It’s said that after that night, Harrison’s family suffered losses in the billions. Cali’s father flew into a rage and threatened to beat her. In desperation, Cali held her stomach and announced she was pregnant with Harrison’s child. Her father was so furious he had a heart attack and didn’t make it to the hospital that night.
Harrison’s family immediately kicked Cali out, removing her from their household registry. With nowhere else to go, Cali went to Harrison.
“Harrison, I’m pregnant with your baby. Let’s get married!”
Harrison was overjoyed; even if he couldn’t have Lydia, he still had Cali. Although Cali’s family wasn’t as powerful as Lydia’s, they still ran a publicly traded company. Holding her hand tightly, he smiled affectionately.
“I’ll talk to my parents about the wedding soon!”
“But, Cali, if we’re going to get married, could you transfer some of your shares to me?”
Cali’s eyes widened. She had helped Harrison try to take my shares and hadn’t succeeded,
but now that it was her turn, she was stunned.
“Harrison, I’ve been disowned by my family. They even removed me from the household
registry. From now on, you’re my only family!”
Harrison’s expression darkened, and he threw her hand aside.
“What did you say?”
“You’ve been kicked out of your family? If that’s the case, why are you coming to me?”
Cali, not yet understanding, continued to plead,
“I’m carrying your child, Harrison. You have to take responsibility!”
Harrison’s true colors finally showed. Grabbing her chin, he coldly replied,
“Cali, from the start, I only got close to you because, like Lydia, you’re beautiful and

wealthy. Even if things didn’t work out with Lydia, at least I had you. But now, you’ve been kicked out of your family!”
“What use do you think you have now? Why should I stay with you?”
Cali’s eyes widened in disbelief. She had thought Harrison was only with me for my family’s
shares and that, after I was gone, he would merge with Lydia’s family business. But it
túrned out that from the beginning, Harrison’s eyes had only been on wealth and shares–he never cared about anyone.
While Cali hadn’t invested as much as I had in the relationship, her losses were devastating.
She’d been disowned, her family ties severed. Yet, Harrison shifted all the blame onto her.
In her despair, Cali picked up a fruit knife from the table and ended Harrison’s life. When
the police found them, she was lying next to him.
Upon hearing this, I felt nothing but a cold sense of irony. They had brought this upon
themselves.
Afterward, I continued to work hard, expanding my company overseas, where it became
one of the top twenty in the Americas. I traveled abroad with my parents to celebrate
together.
It was only then that I realized, without the burdens of love, that the greatest romance in life is truly learning to love yourself.
