Chapter 7
I deleted all of Harrison’s contact information and blocked him completely, thinking that this was the end for us. But to my surprise, Harrison began to harass me endlessly. Just as I was about to fall asleep, a call came in from an unknown number. I picked up, only to hear Harrison’s voice. Before I could hang up, he pleaded, insisting I hear him out.
“Lydia, I know you’re angry!”
“Could you at least meet with me once? Even if you don’t want to be together, just let me
explain!”
I found it laughable and replied in a cold tone.
“Harrison, what more is there to say between us?”
“Let it go. Forced things never work out.”
Then I blocked him again. But the calls from new numbers didn’t stop. Every time he called, I blocked the number until I finally set my phone to intercept unknown calls. Only then did
the calls stop.
After that, I spent a week enjoying Paris, and Harrison didn’t bother me again. I thought he had finally moved on. But as soon as I set foot in New York, people started whispering and pointing at me. Confused, I opened my phone to find that I was trending.
#Lydia’s family scam: wedding prepared, but no bride on the day#
#Lydia’s family canceled the wedding–on the big day, the bride’s family locked the doors, no one in sight, suspected scam#
Only then did I realize that Harrison had stirred up the media. Not satisfied with just this, he even leaked photos from the staged affair in the hotel before the wedding. Below the post, he added a video of himself, and even brought in the man from that night.
In the video, the overweight man claimed we had known each other for a long time and that I had conspired with him to ruin Harrison’s reputation because I was supposedly in love with him. He said I’d planned to run away with him on the wedding day but, when he

refused, I got upset and left home.
I had to admit, with enough money, even the dead could be brought back to life in people’s minds. The comment section exploded, with people tearing me apart.
“Is Lydia crazy? She’s ditching a handsome guy for a fat one?”
“Hah, you don’t get it. Some people just like that type!”
“Unbelievable. She looks so innocent, but in private, she’s wild!”
Reading these comments, my faith in humanity was shaken. In my last life, my downfall had been because I was blinded by love. But now, with my head clear, I knew that if they were so eager to ruin me, I might as well give them a little help.
I posted a video I’d taken from Cali’s hotel party, adding two lines below it:
“The saying goes, catch a thief with evidence and catch a cheater with the act!”
“With just one picture, what can it really prove? For the real story, watch the video!”
I even bought some extra views for good measure.
The night of the bachelorette party, I had gone down to the surveillance room right after leaving the party, paid the security guard fifty thousand dollars to get a copy of the footage, and made him swear to keep it confidential. After knowing Cali for so long, I knew exactly what kind of person she was. I had thought that someday this video might come in handy,
but I never expected them to be so impatient.
Let’s see if they can stay so arrogant once they see this video.
