Chapter 8
Not long after I posted the video, public opinion began to shift. Netizens started siding with
- me.
“I knew it! Lydia comes from a reputable family; she’d never do something like that!”
“Harrison seemed like a decent guy, but who knew he’d be so disgusting?”
“I heard he used to change girlfriends all the time back when he was in school!”
Sipping my coffee, I scrolled through the comments with satisfaction. Just then, my phone rang–it was Cali.
“Lydia, what do you mean by this? Isn’t the mess big enough already?”
It was actually Harrison’s voice. Were they not even hiding their relationship now?
A slight smile crept up my lips.
“Oh, you startled me! For a second, I thought Cali had turned into a man.”
My comment made Harrison panic, and he quickly tried to explain.
“It’s because you blocked me!”
“Ha! Great excuse, Harrison. I blocked you, so you went running to my best friend?”
Frustrated, he demanded that I take down the video immediately. I found it laughable. Who did he think he was? He’d been the one to start all this, yet now he wanted to blame me for the fallout.
Harrison and I had met in high school, back when I was the quiet one everyone pushed around. My parents were busy with work, and I kept a low profile, dressing modestly. No one knew I was a wealthy heiress, as I wanted to prove myself without relying on my family. They bullied me, insulted me, and made me do all the dirty work. During lunch breaks, they’d deny me food and make me scrub floors, refusing to let me rest or go to class until I was done.

Chapter 8
The teachers knew that only students from prestigious families studied at this school, but since they’d never seen my parents, they didn’t take my side. It was Harrison who poured
the mop water over the bullies in front of everyone.
“If you want it done, do it yourselves! And if you’ve got a problem with me, come at me!”
He even scolded me in front of everyone.
“You’re here to study. You’re so smart–why don’t you have any self–respect?”
“If you don’t even have the courage to stand up for yourself, how will you survive in the
real world?”
From that day on, Harrison took root in my heart. I made it a point to learn all his preferences and drew closer to him on purpose. When we entered the workforce, I even invited him to join my family’s company.
Looking back now, I realize that our “chance encounter” was nothing more than a carefully planned scheme. Harrison never approached me out of love. He was only ever interested in my status as my family’s heiress.
