Chapter 3
I calmly pulled my hand away from his, and he, completely unaware, excitedly told me that his parents wanted to invite me to dinner.
“Even though my parents already consider you like a daughter, we still need to have this pre–wedding dinner, right?”
He looked at me expectantly.
“Are you planning to invite my dad too?” I stared at him. “You know how much I hate Cecilia. I don’t want to walk down the aisle with my father’s arm around mine.” []
“I should be walking down with you…” (
I wanted to say, *with my uncle*, but over the years, I’d never mentioned him.
Although Weston knew I had an uncle, he thought my relationship with him was distant, like that of a stranger. []
He came to take my hand again. “Alright, alright, if you don’t want him there, then we’ll just have a simple dinner with our family tonight.” |
I agreed, and he happily went back to work.
The news of our wedding next month had already been spread far and wide, and many business elites would be attending. I
I was sure we’d meet a lot of influential people. After all, the story of how we stuck together through thick and thin to build our company was famous in the industry. []
Before discovering Weston’s affair, I admired how he always seemed to turn everything into an opportunity for company growth.

But now, I couldn’t help but feel like he was driven solely by greed, even turning our wedding into a business networking
event.
While I was in the bathroom trying to calm down, Cecilia stood beside me, touching up her makeup in the mirror. [
“I really envy you, sis. Brother–in–law is not only handsome, but he also makes so much money.”
She turned to face me, and I could see the smugness in her
eyes.
0
She slept with my man, and now she was working with him to manipulate me–Cecilia had every right to be proud of
herself.
“Then I’ll give him to you, how about that?”
She didn’t expect me to say that, and she hurriedly walked away.
She was so guilty, her nerves getting the best of her despite her bold actions.
Later that evening, Weston drove me to the restaurant, talking all the way about how smoothly the preparations for the IPO were going.
Chapter 3
If he hadn’t betrayed me, I might have felt the same happiness.
When we arrived, he opened the door to the private room just a crack, and I saw my dad sitting directly across from the
door.
I immediately turned and walked away, but Weston reacted quickly, grabbing my arm.
“You promised me he wouldn’t be here!” ]
I almost shouted, my voice loud enough for the people inside to hear. []
Weston saw my eyes brimming with tears, yet he still tried to argue. []
He became unusually cold and stern. “Everlee, we need your father at our wedding. I don’t want the outside world to see my wife as someone who’s broken ties with her family.” []
“Our wedding has to be perfect.” []
Ignoring my resistance, he dragged me into the private room. My dad, the mistress, and her daughter were sitting together, laughing and chatting with his parents.
The sight of their happy faces pierced my heart like a knife. [
Because my mother had died of the stress caused by Cecilia’s mother. Her mother had knelt before my mom, crying that *true love knows no sin*, driving my mom–who already had congenital heart disease–into the hospital. She would often come to apologize, only to further upset my mother. I
How could I forgive my cheating father and the woman who ruined my family? []
“Everlee, it’s been ten years already. You should have forgiven me by now. After all, I’m your father.” ||
I looked at this shameless man and retorted loudly, *I changed my last name a long time ago!*
I don’t share his last name anymore. I’m Everlee Wright! I’m my mother’s and my uncle’s Wright!
Weston said, “Everlee, don’t be so unreasonable. Apologize to your father now.”
Cecilia’s mother added, “Yes, your father has had a hard time too.” [
Weston’s parents said, “All parents suffer for their children, Everlee. You should grow up.”
And Cecilia stood by, watching me crumble with glee.
I pushed Weston away and ran out.
He caught up with me, no longer pretending to be calm, and criticized me without holding back. “Why are you so petty? You won’t even forgive your own father? Look at Cecilia, she’s already forgiven her mom for cheating. Doesn’t their family look happy?”
I wiped the tears from my face and turned to face him.
“She can forgive her mom because she’s going to be a mistress too.” I pulled out my phone and opened the surveillance footage from home. “Just like you sided with my father, because you’ll cheat too.”
Chapter 3
He snatched the phone from my hand and immediately deleted the video.
“You know about this?” He took a deep breath, finally revealing his true face. “The video can’t leak, at least not before the company goes public. Our wedding can’t be canceled either.” []
“You’re despicable. You really think I’ll still marry you?” [
sister.” Weston sneered. “Then let’s just replace the bride with your sister.
