Love Story6–Chapter 1
At 2:30 a.m., I suddenly received a message from John:
[Zoe, I love you.]
[Miss you so much, really miss you…]
I was half asleep, but the corners of my mouth still curled into a smile.
John rarely expressed his love for me, so it warmed my heart.
as about to reply, “John, I miss you too.”
But then I noticed an unread message from my best friend, Hannah.
I clicked on it and saw that she had sent me several messages two hours earlier:
[Zoe, is this your boyfriend?]
Timmediately woke up, rubbed my sleepy eyes, and stared at the photo on the screen.
The man in the photo was wearing the familiar blue jacket- the same one I had bought with my part–time job earnings not long ago!
There was a video below, so I clicked on it.
In the video, John was standing next to a woman, her arm wrapped intimately around his. She looked back at the camera with a flirtatious smile.
I recognized her immediately. She was John’s department “flower,” Olivia Garcia.
I had seen a group photo of them in John’s social circle.
He and Olivia were standing at the center, both handsome and enviable.
I had even asked him privately:
Who’s this?”
And I had circled Olivia in the photo.
[She’s from the department, what’s up?]
[Nothing…]
The next day, John asked me to meet him at a handmade store.
We made rings together, and he slid the one he crafted onto my right middle finger.
His beautiful eyes stared deeply into mine as he gently said:
“Zoe, stop overthinking things, there’s really nothing between me and her.”
I was confused, “What?”
He quickly waved his hand, “Nothing, nothing at all.”
Looking back now, it’s clear that his wandering heart had been showing signs for a long time.
And now, thinking about it, it’s like the proverbial “there’s no silver in this place” – he practically gave it all away!
It’s just that I was too blinded at the time to see it.
