Chapter 9
Chapter 9
Back in the dorm, my roommate pulled me aside, her voice dripping with curiosity.
“Did you go out with John last night?”
I forced an awkward smile. “I broke up with him yesterday.”
“Huh? You broke up with him?!”
Everyone knew how much I adored John.
fore we even started dating, I’d bring him breakfast every morning and wait for him downstairs in his dorm. I’d prepare gifts for every holiday, hd hand me his dirty socks to wash.
Things that seemed unbelievable to outsiders, but to me, they were just little gestures of affection.
So, when my roommates heard about the breakup, they were incredulous.
“He dumped you?” one roommate asked in disbelief.
I sighed, “No, I dumped him.”
“Huh?!”
They all turned to stare at me, eyes wide.
They scrutinized me from head to toe, almost as if I were a stranger.
Then, in unison, they began to praise me.
“Nice, nice! That’s the spirit!”
“Good for you!”
“And why didn’t you come home last night?” my roommate continued, clearly not ready to drop the subject.
Looks like I couldn’t avoid this…
Itold them everything about what happened with Alex.
They all gave me a thumbs–up. “Well done! Let that John guy regret it!”
“Huh? Why would he regret it?” I asked, confused.
“Idiot, you’re such a great person–if he doesn’t regret it, he’s crazy!”
“Sometimes you’re too humble. You can’t just give without expecting something in return. Love means facing everything together…
It was in that moment that I truly understood how miserable I had been before.
