Chapter 16
The wind was strong on the roof of the teaching building, and Olivia’s hair was disheveled in the gusts.
Her eyes were swollen and red, her posture slumped in defeat.
I couldn’t care less, walking toward her.
As I approached, I asked, “Do you know my mother?”
She shot me a sideways glance before turning her hollow eyes toward the horizon. Slowly, she spoke:
ch, Zoe, your whole family are bad seeds.”
I froze in place, unable to understand why she was saying this to me, someone with no connection to her.
Then she burst into tears:
“Your mother cheated on my father when you were little! She made my mother commit suicide!”
“I will never forget the moment my mother jumped in front of me, her eyes filled with despair!!!”
“I was crying so hard I couldn’t breathe, clutching her pants and begging her not to leave, but she was so heartless…
A sharp pain shot through my chest.
But I had suffered just as much injustice!
She went on:
“Then, she and my father moved abroad, leaving me behind.”
“One day, I heard the news of my father’s death in a car accident, and all his assets were taken by your mother!”
“From that day on, I swore to get revenge on her!”
“That’s why I found you, to make your boyfriend my puppet!”
The funny thing is, I ended up falling in love with him…”
“It makes me so jealous to see you living your life, while you love him so much… shouldn’t you be in pain?”
“After falling for him, I realized he was still pining for you… for the ten years you had together.”
She paused, then took me into her arms, her voice turning icy:
“Do you think he would let you go if you killed me and my child?”
Before I could respond, she shoved me backward, closed her eyes, and let herself fall straight back…
My eyes widened in horror! This was the sixth floor!
“No!”
I screamed, reaching out to catch her…
