Chapter 7
Chapter 7
I stared at Itai’s face, which felt somewhat familiar, but I couldn’t recall who he was.
Itai sighed.
“Leila, you started liking me not when you became Piotr’s girlfriend, but eight years ago. Marrying you has been my life’s goal, and I won’t regret it or change my mind.”
Hearing Itai’s words, I was completely stunned. Before I could process it, Itai continued driving toward the Civil Affairs Bureau.
When we got out of the car, we had just reached the entrance of the Bureau when suddenly, a car stopped in front of us.
instinctively pulled me behind him.

The car door opened, and Piotr got out. When he saw our hands clasped together, his expression turned cold, and he immediately asked,
“What are you two doing here?”
Itai stood in front of me, blocking Piotr’s gaze, and with a tone full of provocation, he answered,
“We’re here to get our marriage certificate. It’s obvious we’re here for the former, not the latter.”
Seeing Piotr’s ugly expression, Itai added,
“Next time, remember to call me ‘uncle‘.”
Piotr glared at Itai.
“Uncle, Leila Hall is my girlfriend. We’ve been together for three years. You can’t marry her.”
Itai raised an eyebrow.
“You’ve broken up with her, so now I can marry her. You don’t deserve her, but I will cherish her.”
Piotr was stunned. He didn’t expect Itai to be so indifferent.
Piotr turned to me, his eyes red, pleading.
“Leila, I misunderstood you before. I was wrong. I’ll make it up to you, please forgive me. Don’t marry someone else.”
Before I could answer, Itai sneered.
“Piotr, you’ve been married to Leela for six years, but now you’re telling me I can’t marry her? Where do you get the face?”
I stepped out from behind Itai.
“Piotr, you’ve lied to me for three years. I don’t want to keep arguing with you. I’m 26 now, and I don’t have many three–year spans left to waste with you. I want my own family. I want to get married and have children.”
Piotr’s eyes were filled with tears as he begged,
“Leila, if I divorce Leela, can we be together?”
I shook my head.
“Piotr, I’ve told you countless times I wanted to get married, but you always refused. Now, I don’t want to marry you anymore. From now on, we have nothing to do with each other.”
With that, I grabbed Itai’s hand and walked into the Civil Affairs Bureau. By the time we got our certificate, Piotr was nowhere to be seen.
