Chapter 278 

Natalie didn’t stay at the hospital. Jacob saw her off to catch a taxi 

Natalie looked at him and said, “Jacob, you just need to focus on your studies for the next few years. Don’t worry about anything else. I will personally prepare the medicine for your grandmother. 

“This medicine is a special drug for this condition, which is not available in other hospitals. Even the medical equipment in our hospital is very advanced and exclusive. 

“I have already established two such hospitals abroad. Your grandmother’s condition will gradually improve.” 

Jacob remembered overhearing her conversation with Chris that day. The medication was incredibly expensive, with just the service fee exceeding 300 thousand dollars, and the ongoing treatment costs were even higher. 

“Natalie, why are you helping me so much?” He couldn’t understand why she was being so nice to him. They were just acquaintances, yet she was offering help that amounted to millions of dollars in medical expenses, something most people wouldn’t do. 

Natalie grinned as she observed his attractive face. “Jacob, by helping you, I’m actually helping myself. I do what I can because I have the ability. I don’t expect anything in return. Your progress in your study is the best return for me.”

She muttered, “Alright, don’t feel burdened by this. Your priority is to focus on your studies. Call me if you need anything.” 

Jacob nodded firmly. “Okay.” 

“Ms. Shawn.” Xavier suddenly appeared in front of Natalie. 

“Xavier, what are you doing here?” Natalie asked in a slightly stern tone. 

Xavier looked apologetic. He smiled sheepishly, “Ms. Shawn, I’m really sorry. If I hadn’t stopped the car today, you wouldn’t have had the accident.” 

Upon reviewing her medical records, he discovered that she had suffered severe injuries. 

Natalie looked at him. Xavier was a nice guy and the most loyal person to Easton. 

“You don’t have to feel sorry. What happened today wasn’t your fault. The culprit was following me all along. Even if nothing went wrong today, it would happen another time.” 

It was nothing personal, and Xavier wasn’t really to blame. 

Xavier looked at her with concern. “Ms. Shawn, your injuries are pretty severe. Why did you get discharged?” 

Natalie didn’t like staying in the hospital much. “My family doctor can give me an IV at home.” 

Xavier was aware that she probably had an extraordinary ability; otherwise, she wouldn’t have been able to save Easton back then. 

“Mr. Garcia is…waiting for you in the car,” Xavier said, lowering his head. 

Easton left the hospital but didn’t drive away; he waited in the car as if he knew Natalie would come out.

A deep hatred flickered in Natalie’s eyes. “Tell him to get lost! Go back and tell him not to come looking for me unless it’s 

about the divorce.” 

Xavier said, “Ms. Shawn, Mr. Garcia also regrets it…” 

“He won’t regret it; he doesn’t care about me. Just tell him exactly what I said, so he won’t trouble you.” After Natalie finished speaking, her ride arrived. She opened the door and got in. 

Jacob quickly followed in. 

“Uh…” Xavier scratched his head. He thought, ‘Why is that brat coming along? 

‘Mr. Garcia is watching from the car in the back. Won’t this just make him angrier?‘ 

Xavier quickly got into the car. 

Easton saw the scene, and a flash of anger crossed his eyes. She dared to leave with another man. 

Easton looked at Xavier, his voice cold and steady while saying, “Follow them.” 

Xavier drove after them without saying a word. 

Natalie looked surprised as Jacob got into the car. “Jacob, why did you come with me? It’ll be a hassle for you to come back. My place is two hours away.” 

Jacob couldn’t stop worrying about her, afraid that the man might bother her again. “Natalie, I’ll take you home. I’m concerned about you.” 

Natalie found his worried handsome face amusing; he really was quite concerned about her. 

She said, “There’s nothing to worry about; he’s not going to eat me alive.” 

She knew Easton was cruel, always cold, and emotionally abusive. He had slapped her twice in anger, but she had retaliated/ 

Jacob hesitated, unable to hold back from asking, “Natalie is he treating you poorly?” 

Natalie smiled. “Not really; but there are a lot of reasons for it. I’ll tell you when I have the chance.” 

Jacob knew she didn’t want to say more, so he didn’t ask further. He really hoped he could grow up quickly to help her. 

Natalie started chatting with him about school. In their previous life, Jacob was a gaming genius, a real pro with computers. 

Jennifer used his skills to steal lots of corporate secrets. 

Once he was no longer useful, Jennifer abandoned him without mercy. 

His ending was pretty tragic. Jennifer loved to use people and then throw them away like trash.

Natalie smiled and said, “Jacob, do you want to come in for a bit?” Looking at the luxurious villa, Jacob shook his head and said, “Thanks, Natalie; maybe another time. You’re too tired today.

Jacob responded, “Okay.” 

After the car left, Natalie went to open the door. 

Suddenly, dazzling lights came through, and Natalie raised her hand to block the glaring lights. 

After the car stopped, Natalie recognized the familiar license plate, and a flicker of anger flashed in her eyes. He just would not stop bothering her. 

Easton got out of the vehicle, his tall frame giving off an intimidating presence. 

Natalie caught his cold gaze and went straight inside without a word. 

But Easton swiftly blocked the door and followed her in. 

Natalie spun around, glaring at him. “Mr. Garcia, are you unhappy that I’m still alive?” 

Easton’s brow furrowed as he listened to her sharp tone, his face darkening. “Natalie, you were the one who made me angry…” 

“So what if I made you angry? It wasn’t the first time you’d left me stranded on the highway. The first time wasn’t such a big deal, it was just a two–hour walk from home. 

“This time I almost died, but I can’t really blame you. If you want to see me dead, now’s not the time. I won’t die before you and Jennifer. 

“I swear you two lovebirds will die before I do.” 

Natalie’s eyes
