Easton’s expression turned gloomy at Natalie’s words. “Natalie, is getting a divorce all you’ve been thinking about?”
Natalie’s voice was lively with a barely contained excitement. “You’re the one who’s been pushing for a divorce, right? It’s Monday, and the courthouse is open. If you’re ready to file, I’m ready to get up and go.”
He sounded annoyed. “Where’s my silver tie? The one you put away.”
Natalie glanced at her phone, confirming it was Easton calling. “You’ve got to be kidding me. You’re calling your ex–wife about a tie? Ask Jennifer; she’s always in your space. Unless it’s about the divorce, don’t call me again.”
With that, she ended the call, annoyed by the early morning interruption, and flung her phone away, wishing to return to sleep. But her phone rang again. Thinking it was Easton, she snapped upon answering, “What is it now?”
A hearty chuckle resonated through the phone, and Natalie knew it was Maurice.
“Natalie, are you okay? Did I disturb your sleep?” His calming baritone immediately eased her irritation.
Hearing Maurice’s voice, Natalie sat up, her smile reappearing. “Mr. Chambers, no worries at all. How can I assist you?”
“Last night you mentioned you’re multilingual. Do you know Ardonian? I need a translator tomorrow; my partners are from Ardonia.” His soothing tone sent a thrill through her, and she was keen to help.
In a previous life, their encounters had been few, but now, thanks to her grandfather, they were potential soulmates.
“Absolutely, Mr. Chambers, I’m fluent in Ardonian. What time should I be there?” she replied.
Maurice responded, “Six in the afternoon. I’ll pick you up.”
Natalie declined, “That’s not necessary. Just text me the address, and I’ll manage to get there.”
Maurice agreed, “Alright, Natalie. I’ll see you at the entrance.”
After ending her call with Maurice and saving the address he sent, Natalie got ready and went for her morning workout. In recent years, she had been nursing her injuries from rescuing Easton.
Following her workout, Natalie came home, took a shower, and emerged feeling refreshed and full of energy.
Descending the stairs, she found the house quiet, but the butler, Peter, had the staff preparing breakfast.
Peter greeted her with a smile, “Ms. Shawn, breakfast is ready, but Ms. Kline and Mr. Shawn are still resting.” “Here I am.” Lambert’s cheerful voice echoed as he hurried out of his room, looking chipper.
Natalie went over to support him, “Grandpa, take it easy.”
“Wait, why are you still here, girl? Shouldn’t you be on a date?” he asked.
Natalie was taken aback. “Who would I be dating at this hour?”
Lambert gave her a sly look. “Maurice, of course!”
Natalie felt her grandfather had a soft spot for Maurice’s type. To avoid Easton in this life, she was considering getting to know Maurice better. ‘Maybe he’s my knight in shining armor?‘ she thought to herself.
Her eyes twinkled with excitement. “Grandpa, I’ve already made plans with him for the afternoon. I’m going out on a date then.”

With a playful grin, Natalie replied, “Speaking of interests, Grandpa, the one thing I’m most interested in is inheriting your
wealth.”
Lambert gave her a playful glare. “You ungrateful girl, I’m still very much alive. Why show your greed so openly? Haven’t I already promised you my fortune?”
