Chapter 61 

Hearing Natalie insist on calling the police, Jennifer was truly frightened. She couldn’t understand where Natalie found the nerve to go against Easton and the Simpson family. 

Murray walked over and stood beside Natalie, a wicked smile on his face. “Natalie, don’t worry. I’ll call the police right now.” 

He picked up his phone to dial. Natalie was puzzled. ‘Hasn’t he already called the police?‘ 

Easton’s deep eyes flickered. “Murray, wait. Don’t call the police just yet. Tell me, what do you want?” 

Murray had expected Easton to jump in to defend Jennifer. Natalie, too, was long accustomed to Easton’s ways. She was used to it; her heart had grown numb. 

“Wow, Mr. Garcia, you’re really willing to go to great lengths for your childhood sweetheart,” Murray smiled. “I want fifty percent of the Garcia family shares. That seems fair, doesn’t it, Easton? You’d be using your company to buy her safety.” 

Jennifer and Nick’s eyes widened in shock. 

Jennifer was outraged, feeling that Murray had gone too far. “Murray, you’re being unreasonable! If you take all those shares, what’s Easton supposed to do?” 

She couldn’t believe Murray was making such an outrageous demand. 

Murray sneered, looking at Jennifer’s face with disgust. “And what does his future have to do with me? He’s doing this to save you, isn’t he? You’re his priceless treasure.” 

“Using all the Garcia family’s assets to save you might not be enough. If he were to put his very life on the line for you, then he could really prove his pure devotion,” he laughed mockingly 

Jennifer fell silent. 

She felt a deep fear toward Murray, this self–proclaimed bully from childhood. No one dared cross him. Even Jennifer’s four older brothers stayed out of his way, and Easton was wary of him too. 

Because of his reputation as a ruthless troublemaker, Jennifer had calculated against Emma back then, believing she’d planned everything perfectly. She still couldn’t understand how she had failed. 

Natalie glanced at Murray with a hint of admiration; his sharp tongue did live up to his devilish reputation. 

Easton understood that Murray wasn’t genuinely interested in calling the police but had ulterior motives. 

“Mr. Spencer, you can’t possibly swallow the entire Garcia family. Tell me, what do you really want?” Easton’s deep voice held a seductive allure. 

Murray didn’t waste time. He turned to Natalie. “Natalie, I heard you left the marriage with nothing. Easton really was stingy. How about I negotiate twenty percent of the shares for you?” 

Natalie shot him a cold look. “No, thank you. I find his shares tainted. Hurry up and wrap this up–I can’t breathe here.” 

Easton’s gaze 

darkened as he looked at her intently. ‘She finds me tainted?” 

Easton involuntarily took a step back, distancing himself from Jennifer. 

Seeing Natalie’s rejection, Murray turned to Easton with a smirk “Mr. Garcia, if you’re set on protecting Jennifer, it’s simple -hand over the land you own on the west side.” 

Without a second thought, Easton agreed.

Murray quickly obtained the contract, his eyes gleaming as he looked at Jennifer. “Ms. Simpson, thanks for playing. I just secured a few billion with ease.” 

Jennifer silently shed tears, shooting him a vicious glare. 

A flicker of murderous intent passed through Murray’s eyes. ‘Go ahead, glare all you want–let’s see if you can glare me to death.‘ 

Murray laughed, holding the contract, and then turned to Valerie and Natalie. “Natalie, let’s go. I’ll treat you to dinner. Today has been exceptionally satisfying! When I make profits off this deal, I’ll give you twenty percent.” 

Natalie shook her head. “No, thanks. I don’t want my hands tainted.” 

Without another word or glance back, she left with Valerie and Murray. 

Wendy, watching Natalie’s departing figure, slumped into the sofa. She knew she had truly lost her daughter. 

Jennifer quickly grabbed Easton’s arm, crying in frustration. “Easton, you can’t just let that wretch Natalie get away! They set me up together!” 

Easton’s cold gaze landed on her. “Jennifer, then why were you so afraid to let the police investigate? Don’t think that what they’d uncover is beyond my reach. Enough of this nonsense–there won’t be a next time.” 

“Consider this my last indulgence because you once saved my life. But if anything like this happens again, you’re on your own.” With that, Easton turned and walked away. 

Jennifer stood there, stunned. ‘Does Easton no longer believe me?‘ 

Nick’s face was ashen. He got up, furious, and kicked the two men several times. 

“Useless! You worthless scum can’t even handle this. Get out!” Nick yelled in rage, and the two men scrambled to escape. 

Wendy sat on the sofa, watching the scene unfold, her tears flowing silently. It was too late for regret. 

Just as Easton was about to push open the door, he overheard Murray’s voice. “Natalie, why didn’t you let me bring out the evidence? With it, we could have put Jennifer in prison for at least twenty years.” 

Natalie took a deep breath. “It wouldn’t work. Easton would do everything in his power to protect her. Even if you present the evidence, it won’t have much impact.” 

“There’s someone behind Jennifer who wants control over the entire Spencer family. I don’t know who they are, you should stay cautious,” she warned Murray.

“Natalie, I realize I almost misunderstood you again today,” Murray admitted. “I’ll keep investigating. I suspect Easton and Jennifer are working together to take over my family’s assets.” 

“They both showed up that day, and if they poisoned the pool to ‘save‘ my grandmother, it would be an easy way to get close. to us and gain access to critical business information,” he continued. 

Natalie froze slightly, realizing he’d guessed right. In her previous life, that’s precisely how it all had played out. This time, her presence had already changed the Spencer family’s fate. 

“It’s not Easton,” Natalie replied, shaking her head. “There’s someone else who wants the Garcia family as well. I’ll investigate and let you know if I find anything. As for dinner, I think I’ll pass–I’m tired and just want to go home and rest.” 

As she turned to leave, Murray quickly called out, “Natalie, doesn’t any of this make you sad? You were married to a loser like Easton, after all.”
