Chapter 1
Heavy snow fell over Quino City through the night, covering the entire city with a layer of white snow that reflected the morning sun as it rose.
The morning after a night of heavy snow was every child’s dream Many children came running from all directions, clumsily building snowmen together. Their innocent childlike expressions stood out against the cold dreariness of the city. Whitney Zinke stood by a window on the second story of a European style bungalow. As the sun rose higher in the sky and shone on her face, she instinctively put her hand up to shield her eyes from the brightness.
It had been so long since she last saw sunshine.
She finally came to terms with reality. She had really been reborn.
Just then, someone knocked on the door. That was definitely a real knock. But before she could respond, the door was opened from the outside.
None of the people who came in looked at her. They quickly put down the things in their hands and shuffled out again. Only a slightly older woman remained in the room.
“Ms. Zinke, Mr. Julius instructed me to make this soup for you. Do drink it while it’s hot,” said the older woman as she politely held the bowl out to Whitney.
Whitney looked at the soup that had clearly taken a long time to boil and sniffled as she felt tears come to her eyes.
“Ms. Zinke, I know you’re in a bad mood, but your own health is more important. You should take care of yourself,” said May concernedly as she looked at the frail and pitiful girl before her
This was now the third month into Whitney and Julius Latreille’s marriage. Whitney had refused to go through any wedding ceremony of sorts and insisted that she liked someone else, so even if Julius forced her to marry him, she would never fall in love with him.
Julius had ignored what she said until she raised the topic of divorce a few days ago.
He became so distressed that he locked her up in this bungalow and refused to let her go anywhere.
Whitney looked at May’s concerned face, pursed her lips, then took the bowl from May and started sipping the soup slowly. After she finished the soup, she said quietly, “Thanks, Auntie May
May immediately stared back at Whitney in surprise. This was the first time Whitney was speaking so calmly to her. “N–no problem, r–rest well…” May looked really shocked.
“Did she drink it?” A voice suddenly resounded from behind May, immediately after she had closed the room door behind
her.
She got a shock and spun around to come face to face with Julius deadpan expression. He was clearly so worried about Whitney but refused to let it show on his face.
She sighed inwardly and replied to him, “Yes, she drank the soup She finished the entire bowl.”
The tension surrounding the ever–elegant Julius instantly relaxed. He nodded and said, “You may
leave.”
After taking two steps, May couldn’t help but stop and turn back to look at the man, just standing in front of the door. “Mr. Latreille, aren’t you going in to see her?”
Chapter 1
He shot May a cold look before looking at the floor disappointedly. I don’t think she wants to see me
Meanwhile, Whitney was going through her memories to confic which point in her life she had returned to. She eventually confirmed that this was the third day after she raised the topic of divorce with Julius.
In her previous life, she had gone on a hunger strike in the hope of forcing Julius to divorce her. But Julius was concerned about Whitney’s refusal to eat. So, he decided to boil some nutritious soup for her and informed May not to tell Whitney that he was the one who boiled it.
And what did she do the last time? She had flung the bowl to the floor and screamed at May,
She figured that God had given her a second chance at life because Julius had suffered so much for her sake in her previous life and he wanted her to love him this time.
Speaking of Julius… she suddenly thought of something and ran out to look for him, only to run into two bodyguards at the door who refused to let her out of the roomt.
“Ms. Zinke, please go back in,” said the two of them stifly.
She sighed regretfully to herself. How could she have forgotten? She was now a prisoner in her own house. Initially, Julius didn’t restrict her movements this much. But she had tried to run away, so he eventually restricted her to just this room.
In fact, in her previous lifetime, Julius had a metal chain specially made so that he could restrict her movements to an even smaller area.
Where’s Julius?” Whitney figured that if she became too agitated, the bodyguards might lock her in and not allow her to look for Julius. But before the two of them could answer her, a low voice came from outside the door, “Is anything the matter?”
Tears immediately filled her eyes when she heard his voice.
In her previous life, she had set the whole place on fire to kill herself. The last thing she heard before she breathed her last was this voice.
Julius had jumped into the fire so that he could die with her back then. Just thinking about it made her tears roll down her cheeks uncontrollably.
“Don’t cry,” said Julius as he pulled a handkerchief out from his expensive bespoke jacket and gently wiped away her tears. He walked into the room and looked at how inconsolable Whitney was and said a little hoarsely, “Did marrying me cause you this much pain and misery?”
She shook her head vigorously. That wasn’t what she wanted to tell him. She wasn’t crying because she felt miserable. But she was crying so inconsolably that she couldn’t utter a single word.
“Don’t cry anymore. No matter what you do, I will not let you go Julius was patting her back very gently, but his words were firm and resolute.

She didn’t know how to tell him how she felt, so she decided to leap into his arms instead.
He didn’t expect her to do that at all. His back instantly straightened up and his entire body stiffened.
He raised his arms to embrace her, but he remembered how she didn’t like him to touch her, so he just hugged her very lightly and put his arms back down again.
“I don’t want a divorce anymore,” said Whitney in a stuffy and nasal voice as she leaned her head against his chest.

Chapter 1
Julius had no idea how to react. His voice was still and serious as he asked, “Say that again?”
“I don’t want a divorce anymore.” She lifted her head to look straight at him with her innocent eyes.
He looked back at her for a long time before finally managing to find the words to speak. His voice began to tremble slightly as he said, “Whitney Zinke, if you’re lying to me, you’d better make sure you can keep up this lie for the rest of your life.”
“Trus
serious. Julius, I really don’t want a divorce anymore,” said Whitney resolutely.
“If you’re trying to fool me into believing you, I’d say you’ve done a really good job.” His eyes drooped sadly.
Why was she behaving like this now?
What did she want from him?
He simply couldn’t figure out what she was trying to do, so he finally decided to ask, “What do you want?”
