A Maserati parked itself in front of a rather quaint looking gate, which made everyone in the front yard turn to take a look.
“Is it Julius!” a lady’s voice rang out.
“Let’s go take a look.”
A number of them headed out of the gate in time to see the car or open. The first thing they saw was a pair of red high heels followed by a slim and beautiful pair of legs.
Everyone couldn’t help but gasp. These legs alone were enough to drive women mad with jealousy and fill men with
excitement.
“Is that the woman Julius quietly married?”
“Oh? I heard that she’s a real troublemaker, but I didn’t hear anything about her being pretty
As they spoke, Whitney stepped out of the car.
Everyone’s attention was immediately focused on her. Whitney was in a bright red dress and the cinched waist design made her look even slimmer than it really was as if one could encircle her waist with just one hand.
Both her bright red dress and dark long hair that billowed gently in the breeze made her skin seem as fair as the snow that had fallen heavily in the morning. Her facial features were extremely delicate and her long lashes made her look sweet and docile. She didn’t look anything like the tantrum–throwing, furniture–smashing crazy woman that everyone had heard so much about.
And because everyone was focused on Whitney, nobody noticed that Julius had gotten out from the other side of the car. He frowned when he noticed that everyone was staring at Whitney and began to regret bringing her over. He wanted to be the only one who got to see how pretty she was,
But since they were already here, there was nothing else he could do. He walked over to put an arm over her shoulders, which in effect announced to everyone that this woman was his wife.
The crowd quickly sensed Julius‘ glare and jolted back to reality
This young lady was Julius‘ wife.
Even the thought of getting too close to her might possibly cost them their lives.
“Julius, you’re here. This must be Whitney,” said a lady as she walked over.
Whitney glanced puzzledly at Julius and he quietly greeted the lady, “Hello, Aunt Linda”
Whitney quickly echoed him sweetly, “Hello, Aunt Linda.”
“Oh my, you’re so pretty! No wonder Julius likes you’so much! I would fall for you
Whitney lowered her head shyly,
Just then, someone called out to Linda, “Aunt Linda, don’t just keep talking to them at the gate. Since they’re here, let’s go in!”
king at the gate,” said Linda as she reached for
“Oh, dearie me! I was so distracted by her beauty that I just started talking Whitney’s hand so that they could walk to the house together.

But Julius stopped her and said, “It’s alright, Aunt Linda. Fll walk in with comfortable with his aunt.
She was already nervous enough about meeting his parents as it was.
“He was afraid that Whitney might not feel
“Yes, you’re right. It’s better for you to walk in with her since it’s the first time she’s meeting your parents” said Linda as she nodded in agreement.
“We’ll go in first then,” said Whitney to Linda with a sweet smile,
“You don’t have to be nervous about meeting my parents. They’re really nice people, whispered Jolins to Whitney She nodded and tried to remain calm.
After they walked into the living room, they quickly spotted Juliis parents.
“Dad. Mom, this is Whitney,” said Julius as he held Whitney’s clammy hand tightly in an attempt to assure her.
“Hello Dad, hello Mom. I’m Whitney Zinke. She had wanted to get them some gifts since it was the first time she was meeting them, but his parents had specially instructed them not to bring anything since their main purpose was to meet her, and it wasn’t some special occasion anyway.
Whitney could sense a pair of eyes looking at her up and down.
Julius‘ mother, Jacqueline Latreille, was sizing her daughter–in–law up and hadn’t said anything yet, so nobody else dared to speak either.
The entire living room fell into an eerie sort of silence.
Julius wanted to say something but Whitney pulled at his hand to stop him.
Her hand held Julius‘ even more tightly than before as she was very nervous.
The warmth from his larger hand seemed to be telling her, “Don’t be afraid, I’ll be here for you.”
This made her nervousness slowly fade away.
Jacqueline finally broke the silence a little excitedly. “Not bad, not bad. She’s really not bad,”
She exchanged glances with her husband and seemed to get a signal from him, which made her suppress her excitement. She pretended to look serious again as she said, “Whitney, would you mind if I spoke to you in private?”
Bernard Latreille looked like he was sighing inwardly, which made Whitney feel even more confused.
This wasn’t how she remembered Jacqueline at all.
‘Of course, of course, Whitney quickly replied.
Jacqueline came over to take her hand and led Whitney to the back garden.
Julius wanted to follow them out, but his father stopped him.
“You know how your mother is. She won’t make things difficult for your wife,” said Bernard before dragging Julius the other way to play a round of chess with him.

Julius didn’t need to worry about Whitney, Bernard scoffed to himself. Jacqueline was so happy that her son was married.
When Julius called them the day before to say that Whitney had agreed to come for lunch, Jacqueline had actually looked into the mirror worriedly and said to him, “What if Whitney doesn’t like me? I’m so old now and I don’t have any common

conversation topics with her, despite being someone who had always been very confident of herself and her good looks
He had looked back at his wife admingly and consoled her in a gentle voice, “It’s going to be just fine. You’re going to meet your daughter–in–law tomorrow, not make friends with the wife if some important person. Just make sure you put on a stern expression at all times. Remember, don’t reveal your true personality?
Despite telling her to look stern at all times, his wife became overly excited when she laid eyes on Whitney and nearly gor herself away. He really didn’t know what to do with this wife of s
He was pretty sure that Jacqueline had dragged Whitney all the way to the back just to ask the poor young woman about her skincare routine
If it wasn’t that, then she was probably going to drag Whitney to that special storeroom of valuable items she hardly showed anybody to pick a piece of jewelry for Whitney.
Nobody knew that the mother of the famously stern and ruthlessly efficient Julius Latreille was actually so childlike
But her childlike behavior was purely because Bernard had indulged her all these years.
Bernard and Jacqueline were an old couple who really knew each other well. Bernard’s guesses were all correct.
“Whitney, your complexion is really amazing! What skincare products do you use? Why don’t you recommend me something?” said Jacqueline very earnestly as she blinked innocently at Whitney.
