Chapter 2
Whitney was annoyed by Julius question, but when she remembered how insecure he was probably feeling right now, the realized she had to do something about it. She took a step forward and pulled at his tie to make him lower his head.
Julius had no idea what she was trying to do but he bent down anyway.
She leaned towards his ear but turned just before reaching his car to kiss him on the lips.
It was just a light peck on the lips and was nothing like the way had kissed her when she died in that fire.
“That’s what I want. Can you feel it?” She blinked at him.
When he didn’t react, she added, “I really don’t want to divorce you anymore. I just want to stay by your side from now on.”
But the reason why Julius wasn’t reacting was because he felt like his brain had just exploded from that kiss and he couldn’t think straight anymore.
Even if she asked him for the moon now, he would probably promise to get it for her.
“Not enough,” he finally uttered.
“What?” She looked in confusion at his serious expression.
He looked straight at her and said hoarsely, “If you’re hoping to divorce me by pandering to my whims, this isn’t enough” Whitney nearly pulled at her own hair. Didn’t this man understand what she had just said at all?!
“Look…” She was about to say more when he kissed her on the lips again.
“Unghh.. don’t bite me. That was all she managed to say as he kissed her aggressively.
But he was focused on kissing her and wasn’t going to listen to anything she said now,
“That’s the minimum I expect.” Julius had just held his hands up next to her throughout the entire kiss and hadn’t touched her at all.
She had noticed this and glanced at his hands. He immediately put them down again
“Go ahead and tell me what you
want.” He looked down at the floor to hide the hurt look in his eyes.
It was her fault that he didn’t even dare touch her, so she had to suffer the consequences of keeping him at arm’s length all the time.
She wrapped her arms around his waist and said, “Tdon’t want anything else. I just want to be by your side Her voice still sounded as passionate as before.
His straightened back became even stiffer. How was he going to make her stay if she didn’t tell him what she wanted?

He didn’t say anything and just looked intently at her. She wasn’t sure if he believed her or not.
“I’m serious,” she repeated in the most severe tone she could muster.
Her eyes seemed to have the power to enchant him. The more he looked into her eyes, the more they hypnotized him.
“Why don’t we go downstairs and get something to eat?” He decided to stop trying to think about whether she was serious or trying to leave him. It was more important for her to eat well now
Chapter 2
This suggestion came at the right time. Whitney was famished.
She had gone without food for two days when she had been locked up in that basement by Irvin Steed and Rainie Jackson, and this was also the third day of her hunger strike.
“Sure.” She let go of Julius and walked towards the closet to get new change of clothes.
Then, she realized that Julius was still rooted to the spot.
She chuckled and teased him, “So you wanna watch me change
Julius immediately snapped out of his daze and walked swiftly out of the door, slamming it shut behind him.
His somewhat frantic reaction made her laugh. After that, she tuned back to the closet and started choosing what to wear.
Julius had commissioned designers from all over the world to design and tailor clothing especially for her.
Every piece in this closet was enough to amaze the fashion industry, yet Julius had managed to get these world–famous designers to make clothes just for Whitney.
When she thought about how she had cut all these clothes to shreds and threw them out in her previous lifetime, she felt like slapping herself for being such an idiot.
After picking a few rando
pieces, she washed up and combed her hair, then, walked out of the room.
Julius and the two bodyguards qutside were immediately mesmerized by her beauty.
Then, Julius suddenly narrowed his eyes and said sternly to the two bodyguards, “Both of you, turn around.” He didn’t like the idea of someone else being able to see how pretty his wife was.
The two bodyguards quietly turned to face the wall.
“Let’s go. Whitney’s smile was enough to capture a thousand men’s hearts.
Julius instinctively held his hand out to hold hers. A thought hit him and he was about to put his hand down again when Whitney caught it
His legs literally froze and even his breathing became uneven.
“What’s wrong? Aren’t we going downstairs?” Whitney didn’t think his reaction was funny. All she felt was an ache deep within her heart.
She must have broken his heart so badly in the past, she thought. That was why he reacted so strongly to a trivial action like holding hands.
Julius snapped out of his shock and felt like bashing himself. It was so rare for Whitney to take the initiative to hold his hand, and his first reaction was to freeze on the spot instead of taking it in his stride.
These useless legs, he thought as he silently stared at them.
“Let’s go,” he said as he kept his deadpan expression on and continued walking.
But his sweaty palms gave away his excitement and nervousness
When they arrived downstairs, all the servants in the house stuck their heads out to take a peek.
Everyone in the house knew about Whitney’s antics. If she was allowed to come downstairs, every item in the living room was doomed.

But Julius would just watch her smash every single thing without even batting an eyelid, then, he would get everything. cleaned up and replaced.
So, when Whitney came down with Julius this time, everyone’s eyes widened in shock.
They thought they were seeing things. Whitney was actually holding Julius‘ hand!
Whitney could feel their stares and nearly slapped her own forehead in exasperation. She knew that they were all staring suspiciously at her because she gave them so much trouble in the past.
“Y–y–you! You little troublemaker! What are you up to this time A shocked voice rang out.
Whitney looked up and saw Eugene Jagger standing in the living room.
Eugene was Julius personal assistant, the sort who was on standby round the clock.
He was also on very good terms with Julius, so he would often give Julius suggestions and ideas. But when it came to Whitney, Julius refused to take any of Eugene’s advice no matter how Eugene tried to convince him.
Eugene was still here because Julius had rushed over specially to cook for Whitney after hearing that she refused to eat. Whitney knew that everyone had a really bad impression of her so she didn’t get angry even after Eugene criticized her, She was about to reply to Eugene when Julius shot Eugene a warning glance.
Even though Eugene took orders from Julius, there were some matters where he disagreed with Julius. Since he couldn‘ express his opinion, he turned away indignantly.
He didn’t like Whitney, but he wasn’t a bad person at heart. Even though he would slip in a nasty remark now and then, he never did anything to hurt Whitney.
These memories made Whitney smile gently at Eugene.
To her surprise, the large hand that was barely touching her little hand suddenly tightened its grip.
