Chapter 22
Whitney quickly pretended to look all frightened and played along. “My hero! You’ve saved my life, so I must repay this favor by becoming your woman.
Julius dropped this hint on her to make her stop, but since her response was so suggestive, he playfully licked his lips and whispered into her cars again, “Whitney, what do you think about doing it, you know, in the day? That question made Whitney’s face flush instantly.
Just then, a knock on the door ruined the amorous atmosphere in the room.
Julius, are you inside?” Cynthia called out from outside the door
She knew Julius was inside, but she couldn’t stand the idea of Julius spending time alone with Whitney, so she found a reason to interrupt their private time.
After the door was opened, Cynthia was about to speak when she was met with Julius‘ hostile expression as he walked out. He narrowed his eyes and seemed to be trying his best to stop himself from losing his temper, but his tone of voice was terrifying anyway. “What do you want?”
Julius‘ imposing aura made Cynthia tremble, but she took a deep breath and said, “Julius, Mommy said that everyone who doesn’t really have anything urgent to attend to should go to the front yard.”
“Everyone who doesn’t really have anything urgent to attend to Julius sneered. “You mean, someone like yourself?”
Cynthia had a bad feeling about what he was going to say next.
Just then, Whitney walked out of the room elegantly and smiled at Julius while completely ignoring Cynthia as she said. “Let’s go to the front yard.”
“Yes, Julius, let’s go together!” blurted Cynthia before she realized that she had revealed her overexcitement.
She didn’t need to look at the other two to know that they were staring at her. She quickly put on a straight face and said awkwardly, “I mean, let’s go to the front yard together.”
By putting it that way, let’s‘ could still either include or exclude Whitney.
Whitney didn’t know how to respond to that.
She took this chance to look at Cynthia properly and sized her up. Cynthia was wearing a long dress, the latest design from a luxury house. The neckline was very low and while she was wearing a jacket over her dress, the jacket couldn’t be buttoned
- up.
This woman had really gone all out in hopes of seducing Julius. It was 20 degrees out here for crying out loud.
Whitney raised an eyebrow and was about to say something when Julius pulled her into his arms and glared impatiently at Cynthia. “And who said we had to go now?”
Cynthia had no answer to that, so she cursed under her breath and forced herself to Alright then, I’ll head over first.”
Then she reluctantly walked away.
Whitney could sense Cynthia’s indignation as she walked away.
smile. “You don’t want to go over now?
“You don’t like her?” Julius‘ expression had reverted to his gentle self as he looked tenderly at Whitney

Chapter 99
“Huh? How did he know!
you don’t like her, just tell me and I’ll make sure she never appears in front of your again.” Julius spoke as though he was going to literally wipe any person she named off the face of the earth.
“That’s really not necessary” Whitney was touched by his offer hor that wasn’t how things worked in reality
It was very obvious that Cynthia held a torch for Julius, which meant that Whitney had to always keep an eye on her. case she tried anything funny.
Besides, Cynthia was considered part of the Latreille family, so it was impossible for Whitney to never meet her again.
But Julius saw things in a simpler light. As long as it was something or somebody Whitney didn’t like, then he wouldn’t want this thing or person to appear anywhere near Whitney.
At the same time, this answer told Julius that he was right in saying that Whitney didn’t like Cynthia.
“I don’t like her vither,” said Julius as he turned to go back into his room
Whitney was a little stunned by his sudden declaration and her first reaction was to ask, “Why?”
Julius turned to look at his mildly confused wife and asked in a provocative tone, “Why, would you prefer that I like her?” Whitney glared at him and snapped, “Go ahead. Like her, if you dare.”
He was amused by her jealous expression and laughed. Before she could say more, his low and hoarse voice whispered into her ear sweetly, “I don’t like anybody else. I only like you.”
Whitney felt her face grow hot from just listening to his voice. His voice could almost hypnotize her.
She realized that her thoughts had wandered somewhere it shouldn’t, so she raised her arms to push at his shoulders to make him let go of her.
Then, she put on a stern look as if she was about to say something serious. “Aren’t we supposed to gather at the front yard Julius blinked a few times before realizing that Whitney was trying to change the topic.
He didn’t question her about it and answered her, “Let’s go over now.”
Whitney wanted to leave for the front yard mostly because she wanted to calm herself down.
She couldn’t always spend time alone with Julius, she thought to herself.
Ever since she had been reborn, she had spent almost all her time with Julius. Spending time with him made her very happy, but it almost always ended with them getting frisky,
Julius wasn’t worried as he walked next to her and held her hand. He didn’t get any today, but he had fun teasing her. He had more or less figured out what would make her feel shy or embarrassed
“Actually, I didn’t want to let you go to the front yard,” said Julius seriously as he turned to look at her.
“Why?” asked Whitney, even though she could guess why.
“If we were here on a normal day, the house would only have my parents and Cynthia. But we’re having a family gathering today, so other relatives are around as well,” Julius realized that putting it this way might make Whitney misunderstand what he was trying to say, so he added. “It’s good for them to get to know you, but some of them have ulterior motives, so it would have been better if you didn’t have to meet those people.”

Chapter 22
She held his hand tightly and said gently. “Ill be fine. Im not as fragile as you think I am I can handle them
Once they joined the party at the front yard, Julius might not be able to be by her side all the time to protect her from unsavory characters, so that made him worried.
“Tll protect myself just fine. Besides, I’m your wife, remember? Nobody will dare to bully me,” said Whutney as if handling this party was a piece of cake. She just didn’t want Julius to be constantly worried about her
After they arrived at the front yard, Julius was immediately pulled away by some of his uncles and cousins to their side so discuss business projects. Whitney found herself a nice little comer and started to quietly sit down and observe everyo the yard.
Just then, her gaze happened to meet Cynthia’s. Cynthia said a few things to the person next to her, then she started walkin towards Whitney.
Whitney smiled. A good show was about to begin .
