“Whitney! Why are you sitting here all by yourself?” Cynthia walked over and began to tilt her wine glass towards Whitney while pretending she wasn’t aware.
Whitney noticed that action of hers and quickly moved aside teget herself a glass of champagne from one of the servers. thereby avoiding that glass of wine successfully.
After getting her glass of champagne, Whitney looked at Cynthia with a faint smile and wordlessly swirled the glass in her hand
Cynthia suddenly realized that Whitney wasn’t answering her af ill and her own wine glass was still tilted, so she said apologetically, “Oh dear! I’m so sorry, I didn’t notice that my glass was in such a dangerous position”
Whitney smiled and raised her glass before taking a sip. “It’s alright, you’re like a younger sister to me now, so I won’t hold such things against you.”
It was hard to tell if Whitney knew that Cynthia had done that on purpose.
Also, no matter how much Cynthia hated the idea, she was indeed Whitney’s younger sister–in–law now.
“Why don’t we go over there to have a chat with my cousins? Cynthia dragged Whitney over to a group of young ladies without waiting for her to say yes or no.
Actually, if Whitney didn’t want to go along with Cynthia, there was no way Cynthia could have dragged her there either. If she could kick Rainie to the floor, Cynthia was definitely no match for her.
Whitney intended to follow Cynthia over because she wasn’t sure what other stunt Cynthia might pull if she refused.
“Let me introduce you guys. This is Whitney, Julius‘ wife,” said Cynthia with an unbothered expression on her face. But wha knew what she was really thinking about?
“Hello everyone. Whitney smiled politely at the other three ladies in the group and her flawless skin really stood out. All of them took very good care of their complexion, but some people were just born with it.
“Hello Whitney, I’m Yvette Latreille.”
“Hello Whitney, I’m Misha Latreille
“Hello Whitney, I’m Lara Latreille.”
As the three of them introduced
themselves secretly sized them up,
One of them suddenly asked, “Whitney, are you 21 this year?”
Whitney nodded.
“Wow, that’s amazing! You’re only 21 and you’ve already graduated with a degree?”
Whitney smiled as she took another sip of champagite and said nonchalantly. “It’s nothing to shout about, really, I happened to start school a year earlier than my peers. When I went overseas to study, I got to skip another year at high school level.”
The girl speaking to her sounded genuine, so Whitney didn’t mind talking to her.
“Whitney, I’m actually an artiste who just signed a contract with Roseau Entertainment. Did you s

So she’s also in the entertainment industry, thought Whitney.
“I focused mostly on scriptwriting and production. After Whitney said that, she noticed that Cynthia was staring rather annoyedly at her. But Cynthia wasn’t annoyed. Cynthia was jealous.
Cynthia began regretting her decision to drag Whitney over. Her intention was to force Whitney to listen to her talk with these cousins and make Whitney feel left out, not the other way round.
But once Whitney joined the group, the cousins who were normally friendly with her switched sides and became friendly with Whitney instead.
This put Cynthia in a rather awkward spot.
Cynthia rolled her eyes disdainfully. Whitney was getting attention merely because she was married to Julius, that’s all.
An idea suddenly struck her. She looked at Whimney eagerly and said. “Whitney, I want to enter the entertainment industry

As she hesitated, Cyntitia immediately mumbled disappointedly, I guess you think I won’t make it.”
So that was the trap Cynthia was trying to set for her, thought Whitney.
Whitney didn’t take a stand on whether she thought Cynthia would make it or not and said expressionlessly to her. The entertainment industry is not an easy place to survive.”
Another girl scoffed and said, “What’s so scary about the entertainment industry? My family’s got the money anyway. I can just do whatever I want there.”
Cynthia immediately chimed in nowthat she had found a supporter, “Lara, you’re right! But we can’t blame Whitney for advising us like that. She didn’t grow up in such a family, so she wouldn’t know.” This was essentially implying that Whitney was from a poor and ignorant background,
“So while ordinary people fight tooth and nail to get their hands on good contracts, there would be agencies fighting each other to offer those contracts to us!”
“Exactly! Nobody would dare to offend a Latreille.”
“It wasn’t easy for Whitney to find a husband like Julius, Cynthia She wouldn’t know anything about the lives we live.”
Whitney was about to say something when the girl who said she had signed a contract spoke up rather angrily. “What do any of you know? Besides, Lara, the money your family has is from the bonuses that you get from the company. You don’t work at all, so how could you despise people from the entertainment industry?
It was true that many of such wealthy families despised the entertainment industry and considered it as work for the lower classes of society.
But the Latreilles believed in making sure every member of their family learned to earn their own keep, so they supported their children regardless of what career they chose
“I didn’t say anything wrong,” said Lara rather loudly”
“It’s true, Lara wasn’t wrong. It is true that I will never be able to understand the way. the most enviable either, remarked Whitney sarcastically.

With that, she raised her hand to slap Whitney.
Whitney caught hold of her hand before it could even come down and flung it aside unceremoniously.

“How dare you dodge! How dare you touch me!‘ Lara was clearly someone who acted without thinking first. There was clearly no need for Lara to behave so violently towards Whitney, but her rage got the better of her and she couldn’t think straight at all.
She raised her hand to slap Whitney again, but someone caught her arm again.
This time, it was Julius who caught it.
He flung her arm aside and didn’t even bother chastising her. He looked at Whitney and sounded like he had just run over as he asked her, “Are you hurt?”
Whitney shook her head.
Jacqueline had also noticed the commotion, so she called all of them into the room and asked them to explain what happened.
Cynthia quickly seized the chance to speak up first. She stood in front of Jacqueline and said in an aggrieved voice, “It’s all Whitney’s fault! She said I wasn’t good enough to enter the entertainment industry, so Lara tried to stand up for me and ended up getting into an argument with them.” This “them was referring to both Whitney and Yvette.
Before Whitney could defend herself, Yvette burst out, “That’s not what happened! Whitney said that it wasn’t easy to survive in the entertainment indistry, while Cynthia and Lara said they just wanted to join the entertainment industry for fun. They even implied that Whitney was poor and ignorant.“
Once she had finished saying that, she could sense a sharp increase in the tension in the room. The pressure was almost too much for her to bear.
But she did her best to ignore it and comminued, “I said that they were wrong, but Lara tried to argue. In fact, I almost raised
my
hand to slap Lara because I was so annoyed, but Whitey held me back.”
After Yvette finished speaking, Jacqueline looked intently at each person. Lara looked like she wished she could jump into a hole while Cynthia kept avoiding Jacqueline’s eyes. It was obvious who was telling the truth.
Jacqueline hadn’t been the matriarch of this family for nothing after all. Bernard did pamper her, but she also had her own way of dealing with family matters and disciplining the family.
In summary, this whole thing started because of Whitney, so it was only appropriate to end it with Whitney.
Jacqueline got up and pulled Whitney over to her side as she looked at the rest of the people in the room very seriously .
