Chapter 4
Whitney remained standing next to Julius, who used his fork to pick up a piece of meat and put it into her mouth.
But she only put half of it into her mouth and bent down to puhe other half into his mouth.
Julius was stunned by her actions but he bit into the other half anyway.
“Would you believe me now if I said I didn’t put any poison in the food?” Whitney smiled she swallowed her half.
Eugene was relieved and happy to see that the food was fine, but Julius did not become any happier.
He narrowed his eyes at her and swallowed the food in his mouth. It was as if his mesmerizing eyes were asking her, “What on earth do you want?”
Whitney looked at his rather unfriendly expression and said, “I don’t want anything. I just want to be with you.”
Julius was taking this whole situation very seriously and so was Whitney.
Since God had given her a second chance, she was going to make sure she treated Julius well and remained by his side no
matter what.
Julius stood up and realized that it was true that he didn’t feel any discomfort in his body at all.
IFWhitney had put laxatives in his food the last time just to keep him away from the house for a night or two, he didn’t really mind. But if she didn’t even bother trying to do that then how was he going to find a reason to keep her by his side?
Thinking about this made him suddenly pull Whitney into his arms and he said through gritted teeth, “You’re mine, so don’t you dare try to run. No matter what you do, I’m not letting you leave.”
Whitney blinked her large eyes as she looked innocently at him. She didn’t resist his sudden embrace but instead just nodded after listening to what he said.
Julius felt his heart melt when he saw the way Whitney reacted. When he thought about how they were officially married, he immediately bent down to kiss her deeply on the lips.
Since Julius seemed perfectly fine, Eugene walked away to tell Tom not to call for the ambulance anymore.
He didn’t care what Whitney was up to. He just hoped that Whitney would be kind enough to spare poor Julius’s life. That was how Eugene viewed Whitney. A person who was basically going to get Julius killed sooner or later. Eventually, everyone who was present in the dining room and the living room had left to attend to their own duties, until only Julius and Whitney were left at the table.
After their lips finally parted. Whitney’s legs felt so weak, they nearly gave way. She never knew Julius could be this passionate. She held onto his shirt and leaned on his chest as she tried to catch her breath while looking up at him with her eyes that grew watery from the long kiss.
Julius was also taking this pause to calm himself down. Before this, he had kissed Whitney too, but she never cooperated. This was the first time she let him kiss her without making any noise or fuss and even returned the kiss.
He still didn’t know what Whitney was trying to do, but she was staring so deeply into his eyes again…
If he still didn’t feel anything at this point, there was definitely something wrong with him.

Julius, it’s okay with me.” Whitney pulled the blanket around her off, got off the bed and walked over to him before tiptoeing to kiss him on the lips.
“You…” Julius looked surprised for a few moinents before he quickly took the lead.
He wasn’t going to make Whitney take the lead in such matters.
As the sun rays shone down, the thick white snow outside slowly weakened, the bedroom on the second story quietened
down once more.
Julius was quietly asleep on the large bed in the room. But even though he was sleeping, his arms were still wrapped around Whitney tightly.
Whitney’s head was heavy and she could hardly keep her eyes open. But she didn’t feel sleepy at all. In fact, her mind was exceptionally alert now.
She didn’t dare to sleep because she was so afraid that she would wake up to find that everything was merely a dream. She was afraid that this second chance at life she had been given would turn out to be nothing but her delusion.
Then she thought about how he had,leaned against her ear earlier and asked, “What exactly do you want?”
That mesmerizing voice of his reminded her of the last thing he said to her in that fiery basement from her previous life. She had tried her best not to think about that moment ever since her new life had started, but those memories flooded her mind and she couldn’t hold her tears batk anymore.
Her tears flowed down her cheeks and wet Julius‘ chest, so her first reaction was to pull herself away from him, which made
up with a start.

“Whitney, what’s wrong?” There was a tinge of contentment in his voice..
But he suddenly pulled his arms away from her as if he remembered something and his voice now sounded a little upset. “Don’t cry, Whitney, I won’t hug you anymore.”
Immediately after he pulled his arms back, she moved closer to him and hugged him.
His body stiffened and he wasn’t sure if he should hold her or not
She could sense this, so she took hold of his arm and pulled it around her waist.
“That’s not why I’m crying. I just regret it so much. Julius’s body tensed up upon hearing these words. “I regret treating you so poorly in the past, and how how I..” She choked up and couldn’t continue speaking.
Julius’s body relaxed again and he gently patted her on the back to comfort her.
Whitney, are you being serious with me?” He could sense that her sadness was genuine, so if she was seriously feeling bad about the way she used to treat him, he was willing to believe her again.
She couldn’t get any words out, so she nodded vigorously at him

Perhaps it was because she felt safe in his arms or maybe it was because he had promised her, but Whitney’s breathing slowly became more even as she fell asleep, hiccupping from time to time because she had cried a little too hard earlier.
Actually, Julius hadn’t fallen asleep at all because he wanted to savor these happy moments with her. But Whitney’s actions had really caused his emotions to go on a rollercoaster ride.
“Do you really want to stay by my side?” He looked at her innocet sleeping face and couldn’t help but lean forward to kiss her. But he didn’t want to wake her up, so he ended up only nuling her very gently.
