Chapter 11: A Broke Romantic
Blood ties are strange.
Among the dozen or so teenagers detained, including four or five girls, Lily instantly recognized. her daughter, her curly hair partially visible.
The boy with auburn hair and pale skin in a black T–shirt was likely Hanson, the one Amy was buying a car for.
Lily had pieced together the story.
Hanson’s father owed a gambling debt, and the collectors targeted Hanson, learning that Amy
liked him.
They tried to force Amy to pay the debt.
Hanson refused, and they grabbed his phone to call Amy.
Upon arriving at the restaurant, Amy saw Hanson’s bruised face and offered to pay the debt but demanded revenge.
She picked up a bottle, ready to fight, leading the restaurant owner to call the police. They feared.

Hanson’s mother was frail; she could have a medical emergency from the stress!
“Yes, come quickly.” The officer urged.
Amy looked at Hanson, whispering, “Wait, I’ll get you out too!”
Lily saw Amy’s concern for Hanson, who looked dejected and didn’t even bother looking up. Lily narrowed her eyes.
After Amy mentioned Hanson on the phone, she’d investigated him.
He was Amy’s classmate, from an ordinary family, academically gifted, and a popular student. Amy had been very kind to him, claiming he was her best friend, though her feelings were
obvious.
It was impossible to hide her crush; everyone knew she liked him, but no one had broken the ice.
Chapter 11. A Broke Romantic
Unfortunately, the romance of high school was largely fiction.
In Lily’s opinion, Hanson wasn’t as simple as he appeared.
But that needed further investigation.
Having experienced youth, Lily knew that interfering with a relationship was unwise. Especially
as
a suddenly–appearing mother with little emotional connection to her daughter.
“Butler, what about Hanson?”
Leaving the room, Amy urged the butler to bail Hanson out.
“What are you hesitating for? Can’t you hear me?!”
She stamped her foot, noticing the butler looking behind her.
She turned and saw Lily.
Amy’s memories of her mother were hazy, and her facial recognition was blurred by time. Shet didn’t recognize Lily, assuming she was the relative of one of the delinquents.
Lily had remarkable presence and beauty.
After a brief appraisal, Amy dismissed her and turned back to the butler, only to hear him. respectfully address the woman as “Ma’am.”
Amy’s face cracked.
Ma’am? This wasn’t what she thought!
Lily nodded to the butler, indicating they could leave.
She wasn’t about to bail out another child–Hanson.
As Lily and the butler left, Amy rushed after her.
Damn it, why was “she” here?!
Feeling humiliated, Amy was furious.
She was already at a disadvantage!
Seeing Lily enter John’s usual limousine, she followed,
“You married my dad?!”
The title “Ma’am” had been a shock.

After Vivian’s call, Amy thought her father just had a girlfriend.
She hadn’t expected him to remarry so quickly.
But the butler calling her “Ma’am” proved her wrong!
“You returned unexpectedly. There’s no food prepared. Shall we go to a nearby restaurant?”
“Who wants to eat with you?”
Amy’s stomach growled before she could retort.
“Oh! Hanson is still at the station! Stop the car!”
because of this woman!
She slapped her leg, realizing she’d forgotten him because
The driver didn’t stop, glancing at Lily.
Chapter 11. A Brake Romantic
Everyone in the mansion knew that Lily was now in charge.
John had made it very clear.
The butler had also warned that anyone trying to exert authority in front of Ma’am based on seniority would be fired immediately.
This knowledge made everyone incredibly attentive to Lily.
The treatment of Janson family was so good that they didn’t want to leave… Amy noticed the driver’s behavior and stared, eyes wide, wondering what had happened. Why were they so obedient to this woman?!
“The police contacted Hanson’s mother before we arrived. There’s no need to bail him out.” Lily explained.
Amy remembered
“Oh.”

It didn’t matter if she bailed him out or not.
Lily smiled.
Amy’s shock had made her forget Hanson, showing he wasn’t that important; not a life–or–death t
situation.
She was a bit romantically naive, but salvageable.
Knowing Hanson didn’t need bailing out, Amy no longer dwelled on this, but pursued the topic just now.
You and
my dad got married? Legally?”
Lily didn’t answer, changing the subject.
“I stopped honey from sending you the eight million. I also sent your aunt away. Your allowance will be capped; any additional spending needs justification…”
Amy felt struck by lightning.
Stepmothers were indeed vicious, even worse than what her friends had described!
