Chapter 3: The Eldest Son’s Fury
Dr. William, a traditional Chinese medicine practitioner, examined Lily with a serious expression.
After a moment, he withdrew his hand, glancing at the sandalwood incense burning nearby–his own concoction, responsible for Lily’s deep sleep.
“Her pulse is normal, but she shows signs of Qi deficiency, likely stemming from anxiety and
stress…
He chose his words carefully.
From the moment he entered, John’s gaze hadn’t left Lily, the usual sharpness in his eyes. softening only when looking at her.
Dr. William had been warned for even a fleeting glance longer than necessary! He kept his eyes down, avoiding further scrutiny.
Before leaving, he added, “Don’t use the incense too often…”
John usually ignored Dr. William’s instructions.
This time, however, he immediately extinguished the incense.
John’s insomnia was severe; Dr. William had used a strong dose, though it barely affected him.
For someone like Lily, however, the effect was significant.
A single use was fine.
Seeing John so compliant was a surprise for Dr. William.
He,
man who rarely gossiped, found himself curious about this woman. As he left the hotel, he wondered if anyone could finally manage John’s unruly behavior… Assured that Lily was fine, John reviewed the security footage.
He watched every second without fast–forwarding, confirming no one had entered the room during his absence, not even housekeeping.
After Lily’s appearance, despite his elation,
sliver
of
doubt
remained
Over the years, many had tried to exploit his vulnerability, sending women who resembled Lily. Each one more convincing than the last, only to be exposed and dealt with. No one had dared to test him in this way lately, but he couldn’t rule out the possibility of an enemy using this ploy.
John knelt beside the bed, gently tracing Lily’s hand against his face, gazing at the features he’d longed for.
A deep shadow

He’d found no flaws.
his eyes,
blend of
of relief and apprehension.
If this were an elaborate scheme, he’d accept it.
But he preferred to believe his Lily had truly returned. Lily slept soundly.
Chapter 3 The Eldest Son’s Fury
When she awoke, she saw John beside her, his eyes dark with exhaustion.
She stared, unable to imagine what he and their children had endured during her fifteen–year
absence.
“Lily, good morning.”
His eyes widened in panic upon waking, then relaxed as he registered her prese
presence.
A faint smile played on his lips. the first smile she’d seen since the previous night.
–
Remembering his mention of the children’s resentment, the plural “them” meaning more than just Andy… Amy and Ben had issues with their father too…
This weighed on her mind, but she decided to wait until they met.
After a light breakfast, they boarded the flight back to Los Angeles.
John had sensed her concern.
He hadn’t dared to bring it up because the children weren’t just estranged from him; they were estranged from each other.
Lily had three children: Andy was six at the time of the crash, Amy and Ben were toddlers. Before flying back, she considered calling Andy, but the situation was too complex to explain in a short
conversation.
It might lead to misunderstandings, SO she decided to wait until they met.
The thought of her children growing up without a mother ached in her heart. While Lily was struggling with her emotions, Andy was dealing with his own turmoil in their Beverly Hills mansion.
It was, mostly, anger..
Arriving early that morning, he found the courtyard replanted with a field of damask roses. His mother’s favorite flowers!
Had that woman copied that too?
Since his mother’s disappearance, the mansion had remained untouched for fifteen years.
Not a single vase had been changed.
Now, there was a complete overhaul–new sofas, renovated staircases, new rugs, and coffee tables…
Was John insane?!
To erase all traces of his mother for a new love?
His eyes filled with rage.
“Stop! Don’t touch anything!”
The cleaning staff jumped, halting their work, looking to the butler for guidance.
The butler rushed over.“Sir, it was Mr. Janson’s orders.”
“What orders?
Andy’s voice was icy, making the butler shiver.
Knowing the eldest son’s temperament, he wouldn’t dare lie.

“A complete house cleaning, planting damask roses in the garden, cleaning the master bedroom) on the third floor…”
His voice trailed off as Andy’s expression darkened.
Everyone knew the master bedroom was off–limits.
Jニト
It was where his mother had lived; only John had been allowed in for years, personally handling. the cleaning.
Now John had assigned the work to them.
The implication was clear.
-There’s a new woman in the house!
The butler signaled for the staff to continue.
He thought Andy wouldn’t object.
“I said stop! Can you not hear me?!”
Andy wasn’t as understanding.
He could accept his father moving on, but not “this“.
If there was a new woman, move her out!
Why erase his mother’s life?
And that woman clearly resembled his mother–attempting to usurp her place?
Never!
The butler ultimately prevented them from continuing cleaning.
knot of apprehension.
Seeing Andy’s furious expression, the butler felt
The eldest son would likely throw a tantrum when his father brought home the new wife. The butler desperately tried to contact John, but his calls went unanswered until he heard the sound of car approaching.
The butler’s lips trembled.
Mr. Janson was back!
The staff fell silent, the tension in the house palpable.
The butler went out to greet them, his eyes widening upon seeing the new wife in a pale green dress.
He’d only seen Mrs. Janson in photos, but this woman Was ΠΠ exact replica. He’d thought it commendable that John had mourned his wife for fifteen years. Now, looking at the new wife, it was clear he hadn’t moved on at all.
Sir, Master Andy is inside. He…”
Before he could finish, the new wife’s face lit up.“Andy’s home?!”
Lily hadn’t expected to see her son so soon.
She broke free from John’s arm and rushed inside.
