Chapter 3
At that moment, I fully realized that Rosalie had never truly disappeared from our
marriage.
After marrying Nico, I learned that Nico had a childhood sweetheart, Rosalic. Nico had
always been her protector, inviting her to dinner on various holidays, and would drop everything to be with her, ignoring me completely.
Whenever I questioned him about it, Nico was never patient with me.
“What more do you want? You’re married to me, so what else do you expect? Rosalie has
lost her parents, shouldn’t I be looking after her?”
Looking after her? Is that what you call abandoning me to care for her without boundaries?
The sharp pain around my neck jolted me back to reality. The kidnapper had grown
impatient and lightly sliced my neck.
“Done? Call again!”
Just then, the door to the small room was suddenly opened, and Johnny walked in, a cold expression on his face.
“Don’t get worked up,” he said disdainfully, covering his nose, “Mr. Turner sent me to see
how your little act is going.”
How did Nico know I was kidnapped?
But there was no time to think about it now. I had to scream at the top of my lungs.
“The kidnappers are from Nico’s competitor. They want to meet with him about the recent project he acquired. Johnny, you know about this, right? This is something that can be
negotiated.”
The kidnapper glared at Johnny and coldly spoke.
“I don’t know anything about a project. All I was told was that either the project gets abandoned, or I get three billion. Otherwise-”
He sliced my cheek, and blood instantly started dripping down.
At the sight of my pleading gaze, Johnny suddenly laughed.
His laughter grew louder, and he began clapping his hands.
“Madam, madam, Mr. Turner was right after all. You’re really trying hard to get his
attention, even going as far as getting someone to help you with this act. You’ve truly put a
dot into it.”
“Too bad, Mr. Turner won’t come.”
Johnny’s relentless mocking made my heart freeze in an instant.
Why? Why couldn’t he just believe me?
Johnny laughed so hard he could hardly stand up. It took him a while to catch his breath before speaking again.
“Alright, alright, madam. Let’s wrap up the show, shall we? You must be tired, huh? Oh, and
you even tied your hands and feet to make it look real, huh? Nice touch, very convincing.”
He then sat down casually and began chatting with the kidnapper.
“Buddy, you know who you’re helping with this act? It’s not worth it.”
The kidnapper, probably encountering something like this for the first time, stared at him blankly.
“What do you mean?”
Johnny seemed to enjoy himself.
“You don’t know? Let me tell you. Our CEO’s wife was the same when she wanted to marry Mr. Turner. She knew Mr. Turner was sentimental, so she pretended to save Mr. Turner’s father when he had a stroke and rushed him to the hospital.”
“Old Mr. Turner said he wanted to repay her, and she even asked to marry Mr. Turner, taking away the person Mr. Turner held most dear. Don’t you think that’s too much?”
