Chapter 5
What can I say? I should have never saved your father back then, nor should I have ever
met you.
Seeing me silent, Johnny seemed intent on making me completely lose hope, so he directly called Nico via video. After ringing for a while, Nico finally answered.
What is it? Didn’t I say not to bother me?”
In the frame, there was Nico’s familiar face. The moment I saw him, the painful memory of
emory him pushing me into the sea in my past life overwhelmed me, making me shiver
– uncontrollably.
Johnny turned the camera toward me and mockingly asked, “Mr. Turner, I did as you instructed, and indeed, your wife is kidnapped.”
Nico looked at me coldly, his expression unchanged.
“What, am I not acting? I’m busy, Evelynn, so stop it already.”
I opened my mouth to explain, but before I could, the kidnapper spoke first.
“Nico, your wife is in my hands now. If you don’t cancel the project or pay me three billion, you’d better watch out for your wife’s life!”
Nico’s expression didn’t change at all, and he even sneered.
“Oh, then go ahead and kill her.”
My head buzzed. I could hardly believe what the man had just said. He was so heartless
toward me.
Even the kidnapper was stunned by Nico’s casual words. “But she’s your wife.”
Nico raised an eyebrow.
S
“So what? Is there anything else? If not, I’m hanging up. If you need something, talk to Johnny; he can handle it.”
Then, he ended the call.
Johnny looked at me in a daze, shaking his head helplessly.
“I told you, Mr. Turner won’t come. Madam, it’s time to give up.”
“Alright, the play’s over. Madam, it’s time for you to exit.”
With that, he walked straight toward the door.
This move instantly enraged the kidnapper. His demands had been repeatedly blocked, and now he couldn’t tolerate any more. He wasn’t listening to anything anymore.
“Leave?! I want to see who dares leave!”
He raised his knife and stabbed it brutally into my abdomen.
In an instant, I could almost hear the sound of my flesh being cut.
The pain overwhelmed me, consuming all my thoughts. The only voice in my mind kept
screaming and echoing.
“It hurts, it hurts!”
I pressed my hand to my stomach, blood pouring out through my fingers, my vision
spinning.
Even Johnny was startled by the sight.
“No way, you’re really doing it? This blood pack effect is just too-”
His words were cut off as blood continued to flow from my lower body.
“How could so much blood be flowing?”
The kidnapper grinned wickedly, pressing the knife against my limp neck, gradually applying more force.
“I don’t mind making it bleed more.”
Johnny’s face turned pale. It seemed like he had just realized everything was real, and he quickly tried to stop it.
“Don’t!”
“There’s a way to talk things out, right? If the madam really dies, I–I won’t escape the consequences either!”
