“Alright, sure. I’ll come along. I could use the distraction and break from all the training, Ralph said as she looked at the excited lycan before her
It was a terrible idea and Ralphine knew it.
Going with Polina unsupervised was not the best of things that she could have considered, but the Lycan queen needed a distraction. She needed to forget her past and the fact that Drescher Volkov was still hounding her left and right. If the man had managed to get through the barriers and even get her letters, then there was no telling what he could do to her. She didn’t want to think of what could happen.
“We’ll go to neutral locations just so you know,” Polina said as she led the way out of the Asmoria kingdom.
No one could suspect her, because they trusted her as one of the king’s best friends. They knew she wouldn’t do anything to harm their new queen because then hell would break loose. So, ber crossing the border with Ralphine was just one of the most normal things the Lycans of Asmoria could have witnessed and none of them paid too much heed to it
Unknown to the Lycan queen, Polina had not been completely truthful with her. If anything, Polina had lied to Ralphine that she had asked for the king’s permission when in reality there wasn’t a thing that she had done. She hadn’t asked shit and right now, as they made their way out, Ralphine looked strangely relaxed for the company she was keeping. She knew Polina was bad news for her, but what did she care about right now!
“What locations are those?” Ralphine asked once they were out of Asmoria and on the highway. She shouldn’t have trusted Polina given she understood the woman’s jealousy, but this time, Ralph was choosing to trust the friendship that King Miroslav and Polina had. Granted it wasn’t much to go by, and it was a terrible risk, but then it wasn’t like Polina would ever beret the Lycan king, right?
“You’ll see. Come, let’s get going, the bus is here,” Polina said and Ralphine looked at her skeptically, she had only ever heard of buses in stories that she listened to when the older wolves spoke. She had never set foot out of Koslow and was easily the most naive wolf out there, so she was right to stare at the woman beside her.
“Is it safe for us? We’re wolves – sorry, Lycans at the moment. Wouldn’t it make more sense to shift and run towards our destination, wherever that is?” Ralphine asked and Polina snorted when the bus pulled over. Instead of answering the woman, she just grabbed her hand gently and helped her into the bus. It was a new experience for Ralphine, even as Polina paid the driver to get them to the human lands.
“Relax. I don’t want us to get there all sweaty and fucked up. Trust me, this will get your mind off whatever was bothering you earlier,” Polina said reassuringly and Ralphine just nodded as she took her seat on the bus. She watched as the trees went by with every mile that the bus covered. It was a new experience and while she loved it, she knew she would always prefer to run in her natural form.
She would always love the feeling of air brushing against her furs, not to mention the happiness and freedom that came with shifting into her truest form. It was the perfect way for her though she wasn’t about to complain to the woman who had gotten her out of her misery. Thirty minutes later, the bus from Asmoria came to a stop in Moscow, a huge capital, a city so beautiful and tainted with the sins of the non–compliant
“Wow, this place is so beautiful,” Ralphine explained when they got off. She had never seen such a palace and was wondering what was going on there. Of course, Polina just let out a light laugh at her queen’s statement, before she began leading them to the nearest coffee shop. She could tell that Ralph hadn’t had breakfast earlier that day and wanted to get her in the mood for the long day ahead.
“What will we be doing here?” Ralphine asked when they were done with their coffee. She was all for adventure and being out with the permission of the king; but she needed to know what they had come to do. Perhaps this wasn’t the best of times to be asking that, but she wouldn’t be blamed.
“Shopping. Hhave the king’s unlimited card and today we will use it on getting you a new wardrobe seeing as the ones you’re always wearing doesn’t exactly seem like your style,” Polina said, her voice so innocent you would think that she was doing this from the kindness of her heart. Even if she was, she wasn’t the kind to be trusted with such, but Ralph was yet to learn

“Oh.. – Ralph began but Polina stopped her.

“It’s alright, Your Highness. We just have to get you new clothes. Besides, I figured you could use a little girl–time, out here. without Kara hovering over you in the name of protecting you and the king keeping his focus elsewhere. Unless you didn’t need the fresh air,” Polina teased even though she knew that she was right. Ralphine Belyaeva was never one to be kept indoors. Even when she was just a rankless wolf in Koslov, she always felt free.
Granted in Asmoria she was their queen and waiting, but she feltrapped in that little cage, especially with everything that was going on. There was no telling when she would ever be able to be out of there like this again. So, she would enjoy this moment. And so, she followed Polina to the malls, buying whatever she wanted. It was an innocent shopping spree that got her wondering how much the price of everything was.
However, Polina just told her that the king was being billed that, and that the king had endless cash flow and wouldn’t be worried about that. They explored the beautiful city of Moscow, going to different spots and having the time of their lives. By the time they were done exploring, the two women were way too tired. They looked like they could lose their minds from the amount of walling and the bags they had gotten from the endless shopping today.
“Today was beautiful,” Ralphine said as they took a break. Ralphe looked happier like there was nothing wrong. She smiled with Polina more than she should have and in that moment, she let herself trust the woman who wanted to mate her husband.
Perhaps it was a lapse in her judgment, but then whatever it was, it was already happening, because one moment, they were at the last mall, taking a break, and in the next, Drescher Volkov was walking towards Ralphine. The same man she had been avoiding thinking of, was making his way towards her and there was nothing she could do.
“Yup, it really is. Please wait for me here, I’ll go to the washroom really quick. Don’t move from here because this place is huge and it would really be a hassle trying to find each other, yeah?” Polina said innocently, and Ralphine assumed that the women hadn’t seen the Koslov beta.
She assumed that Polina, the most careful warrior and one of the best trackers of Asmoria, wouldn’t really leave her with the man who had caused her so much pain, that too, in a world that she had just been introduced to. This would feel like another trap, but Polina’s face hadn’t changed. If anything, it was the same happy face the woman had been wearing the whole day, so Ralph figured there was nothing for her to worry about. Besides, if the Koslov beta tried anything with her, she was certain that Polina would come to her rescue. But after how long?
“Okay, sure. Take your time,” Ralphine said understandingly. They had both had a long day and had been holding it all in. She wouldn’t fault the woman who had been kind to her the entire day, for wanting a release from the madness they had been exploring, right?
With Polina gone, Ralphine looked again in the direction she had seen Drescher and was relieved when she no longer saw him. Maybe he didn’t see her and she hoped for that because she couldn’t really be seen with the man who had hurt her in the worst of ways.
However, just like every ungranted wish, Ralphine’s wish went unanswered, because just as she was catching her breath, she heard the devil speak next to her.
“Hello, Ralphine Belyaeva.”
