Chapter 28
Seeing Drescher standing so close to her, Ralphine was lost for words. There wasn’t much she could do at the moment because it seemed like every chance she got to escape this man and everything he came with, would always have her at the same point again. It was a toxic cycle and if she wasn’t careful she would lose more than she had already lost.
–
“I see you’re a stalker now,” Ralphine said as he looked at her ex who was staring at her softly. It was strange to her but she wasn’t going to give in to the soft stare. She wouldn’t give him another chance, not when she had found someone who truly cared for her.
In the first few weeks, Ralphine had assumed that the Lycan king was being kind to her because she was his chance at a stable kingship. Sure, King Miroslav could run Astoria Kingdom as he saw fit, but having a queen by his side to take care of his people was something else. It was more important, but then over time Ralph came to realize that the Lycan King cared for her, he was busy most of the time, but he had her in mind. That was enough to keep her going regardless of the
circumstances.
“Am I now?? Drescher asked, before complimenting her, like she was everything to him.
“You look so beautiful, Ralph. So, so beautiful.”
Ralph stared blankly at the Koslov beta. This man wasn’t being serious now. If the deadly king found out that they met, it wouldn’t be pretty and Ralph already knew that. She wasn’t in the mood for a fight with Miroslav, not when he s busy with making life better for his Lycans. She didn’t want to be the reason the King was distracted, because then there would be losses. Losses that could have been avoided
“Don’t you
have someone else to bother?” Ralph asked boredly at the beta who was staring at her with fond eyes. You would think that she was the best thing that happened to him, or even that he was finally accepting her as his mate. He had broken her and left her for the dead, unbothered like it was the woman’s fault he had a shaky ego.
“Ralph- Beta Drescher called out when he realized that her attention was not on him. He desperately wanted to be at the centre of her world. He wanted to be the one she relied on, and he wanted to be there for her no matter what happened. Perhaps that was why he had come to this place.
But then again, what were the odds that he would come and run into her like this? There was no telling if this was a coincidence or not Especially given Ralphine had come here, in the company of Polina – the same woman who wanted her King of a mate. However, Ralph didn’t think in that direction, and even if she did, there was no telling that she had her suspicions.
Ralph looked in the direction of the washrooms and hoped that Polina could come sooner. She couldn’t handle being in the same space as Drescher. It made her uncomfortable and got her thinking of so many things. It was like Drescher was the worst bout of flu that Ralphine ever had. The bastard couldn’t stay away from her. It was quite hilarious seeing as she had left home so she wouldn’t read the damn letters he had written for her, and now here she was, face–to–face with the same man she had been avoiding. Perhaps the universe was planning shit but why wouldn’t Ralph have her peace!
and figured I could come to say hi. I know we didn’t go our separate ways in the “I didn’t come to bother you. I saw you kindest of ways and I wanted to apologize for being a dick” Dresher said, the sincerity in his voice making Ralph let out a scoff. There was just no way this man was being honest with her. What the hell did he want her to do with that?
“Good for you. As you can see, I’m running errands. It’s best for you to leave before the warriors hound you for disturbing their queen,” Ralphine said confidently, not daring to look away. She would use that privilege to the best of her knowledge. because that was the one card that even Drescher couldn’t win against. He had abandoned her and she had become the queen. Perhaps he wasn’t as bad for her as she thought, yeah?
“I don’t see them… And you’re looking in the direction of the washrooms, which means that you came with someone, and escaped your guards,” Dreschermused like he had finally connected the dots. However, Ralph didn’t even flinch at his realization. It was like she was never going to give him the time of the day. He could figure out everything as much as he wanted to, but at the end of the day, she would always find a way
Oh yeah? How intelligent of you. Be on your way, Drescher. Your presence is not needed here, Ralph said and Drescher

smirked at her knowingly
“You’re alone here, Belyaeva. No one is coming for you. Also, leme guess, you came here with Polina, no?” Drescher said and Ralph felt her stomach churning in disgust. She hadn’t wanted to trust Polina but she had needed an escape. She had wanted to leave but not her she was, probably alone just like Dreicher had said, with no one to come for her. What the hell was he going to even do to her?
“I’m warning you, stay away from me.” Ralphine said, her voice shaking at the betrayal she felt.
Now that she thought about it, not coming with Kara had to be the worst mistake of her life. She shouldn’t have let Polina convince her to let Kara have a break. The woman was bound to protect her, but now, there was no one. Not even the damning Polina who had brought her to this place. It didn’t help that she had no clue of the way back home. She was screwed and she knew it.
“Oh, but you are coming with me sweetheart,” Drescher said before adding, “if you scream, I will just let them know you’re my mentally deranged sister who failed to take her medication despite being promised a tour of the grand Moscow mall. You don’t want to know what I would do to have you back, little Belyaeva,” Drescher said, his voice changing from the gentle one earlier, to a more sinister one.
Staring at Drescher, Ralphine wanted to disappear, but then she looked around the crowded mall that was so busy with activities, given it was some holiday season. She knew people would just think that there was a harmless ruckus, especially with all the authorities walking around with their batons. No one would pay too much heed to a man dragging her to wherever which scared her. This right here was the second time this man was trying to fuck with her and she wasn’t sure if she could win against this monster ever.
“You can’t do that,” Ralphine said and Drescher just chuckled darkly.
“Well then, try running, little love,” Drescher warned as he looked at the endless shopping bags that Ralph had surrounded herself with. They were too much, a little too much for a young woman like her. It would have made sense if she were with Polina because everyone could assume that the goods belonged to the both of them. but right now, there was nothing. Nothing to hold her back, nothing to keep her steady and nothing to keep her safe from dark thoughts that had crossed her mind two months ago when she watched her parents be burnt to ashes at the Koslov square.
“I know it’s pointless. But just know, Miroslav will kill you if he finds out what you are doing right now,” Ralphine said, accepting her fate a little too easily. Even after all the months of training, she couldn’t fight back. Maybe because she had checked the odds and realized that no one was ever going to come for her. Even if she fought, he would just hurt her more and Ralph couldn’t try to heal herself like the last time.
“You’re right, Belyaeva. He will definitely kill me, IF he finds out Drescher drawled darkly as he stared at the woman sitting before him. he wouldn’t be letting her go anytime soon and he wanted her to come to terms with that, because only then would he be able to take her with him and fade off into a sunset of his liking. He didn’t hate her, right?
“What?” Ralphine asked as she listened to the confidence in Drescher’s voice.
Polina had really betrayed her, damn.
“You heard me right, sweetheart. IF. However, he won’t, because Polina will just tell him that you ran away with me. She saw the unopened letters I sent you on your bed, that’s why she called me to come. You poor thing, wherever you go, no one wants you, love. But you’re lucky, because I still want you. I will always want you, Belyaeva Always. So don’t bother fighting. because you won’t win.
put in place for any mishaps, and I know most of the people here so they don’t think that I’m kidnapping “I have measures your–or as 1 would like to call it, mutual agreement to leave with me,” Drescher said and Ralphine felt her Lycan whimper
Ralphine was no longer a rogue or even a werewolf. If anything, he was a Lycan, but one that was still too young and didn’t know the first thing about being herself. The Lycan hadn’t matured yet and knew it would be futile to go against a well- trained beta wolf. In the end, Ralphine was always going to be the broken girl, the one people stepped on, despite having risen to the most powerful position in the realm, way too powerful than even the lycan king himself
The people around her would always betray her regardless and that was a truth that hurt her so bad she couldn’t breathe.
Chapter 28
Maybe this was her fate, to–be tossed around like a rag doll, to be played by the same man who had broken her, to be seen as a nuisance by everyone else. It was like her entire life would revolve around being a nuisance, one that couldn’t even save
herself.
“Then I’ll kill you myself.” Ralphine said, a newfound rage finding itself in her. She was done being bossed around and being told what to do. She refused to let herself go with this bastard just because he knew the right people and had the best connections she would fight, even if that was the last thing she did.
So, she stretched out her baby Lycan claws and struck at Drescher, shocking the beta who clearly hadn’t been expecting it. Taking advantage of the Koslov beta’s momentary shock, the Lycan queen rushed in the direction of the women’s washroom, hoping that she would get out of there before he caught up with her. She knew she wasn’t strong enough so she would find a way out in the only way she could think of
“Sorry, Miss,” someone said before Ralphine felt her body hitting the ground.
Someone had intentionally tripped her.
“Fuck.” was the only thing Ralph could let out as she heard her bones break and darkness hit her a little too fast
