Chapter 32
Kara looked at her king, the man who had been nothing but good to them all. Sure, Miroslav had his psychotic episodes, but he knew how to take care of them. He had stood for them regardless of what happened and he had given the Lycans a sense of belonging, in a time when people weren’t sure what to make of the strongest creatures in the realm. The king had been there, to hold the fort for them and encourage them when they felt low.
There was a certain kind of pressure that came with being at the top of the food chain and yet King Miroslav had made them feel like they were just a normal bunch of people. This man had done everything possible to make sure life was worth living, so watching him get betrayed and that too by someone the king considered important wasn’t something that Kara would take lightly. She would speak up, even if it could earn her an enemy in Polina Rostova.
Besides, the worst that could happen was her rank being changed. However, that didn’t bother Kara as much, and it was clear with how she was glaring at Polina Rostova,
“Pardon me your majesty, but I am just trying to make things make sense here. Warrior Polina should have been more careful,” Kara began and Polina growled at her, however that didn’t surprise Kara because she had been expecting it. The woman in their midst was a traitor and she wasn’t going to sit idly and watch someone ruin the kingdom they had worked so hard to build. If this didn’t mean shit to Polina, then she had to leave.
“All you have done is point fingers at a high–ranking warrior, Kara. You more than anyone should know that being emotional on the job never gets anything done. Or have you forgotten that Viktor said and Kara stared at the Lycan beta, kwing so well what was at stake. She wasn’t going to relent though. The woman was a traitor and she would prove it to then… Either that or she was desperate to climb the social ladder fast and with different motives.
“Maybe I am right, but yeah, hear me out, okay?” Kara said as she looked at the king. This time she would try to gauge and reason with them. Maybe she was in over her head because of her loyalty to Ralphine, but what if, right?
“Okay, be quick,” the king said as he got off his horse just like everyone else. It seemed like some sort of mini–meeting and he knew that Kara wouldn’t waste his time, especially when he was going out on the most important mission of the day. She wouldn’t drag him behind, and that he trusted.
Thank you, sire. Polina took Queen Ralphine out of the palace to take her shopping, and told me not to come along because the queen would be in good hands, and I let her, Because she is your confidant. Surely there wouldn’t be a reason to suspect the person the king trusted the most, yeah?” Kara began and Poina sighed, while other male Lycans stared at her keenly. They were listening, waiting to hear what Kara would say they could tell she was affected by what had happened and perhaps she was aware of something that they didn’t. Something that would make it easier for them to track the queen.
“Warrior Polina knew the queen had never left the supernatural realm and yet she took her to the human lands. She knew the girl never knew Moscow and had never even gotten on a damn bus, but yet she took her. The Goddess knows what the same person who had taken the queen out of her changers for an happened back in Moscow, but the fact that she adventure–came back home, alone and without the queen, is suspicious enough.
“It just didn’t make any sense for her to leave Queen Ralphine behind, no matter what order she was given by the queen. Assuming there was any. She knows the security protocols and yet she breached all of them,” Kara said, her chest rising at the possible betrayal.
Polia was looking at the warrior, ready to discredit her but then she had to wait and find a possible weakness because otherwise, the king would know what she had done and frankly, that didn’t seem like a good thing for Polina herself, Miroslav Ibrahimovich had the fury of thousands and if he realized Polina betrayed him he would kill her first then ask questions later. That was a risk that Polina couldn’t take.
“So, taking the king out of the stuffed palace is a crime, yeah? How interesting, but hey, continue,” Polina said though she could already feel that she was losing this battle. It was just a matter of time before she was completely screwed and not even the goddess could come to her rescue, Or maybe there would be someone!
with Drescher? As a warrior “None of this makes any sense. How the hell did Polina know that the Lycan queen close to the king, why didn’t she defend the queen? I know you might not trust me because I am just a mere warrior, but this woman should have stood up for the queen. She knew so well that the woman was weak and her Lycan wasn’t mature and

yet she told me she could take care of the queen.

“A fully developed beta against a young Lycan is no match because the beta would definitely win, even if the young Lycan was the queen of Asmoria herself. But Polina is a warrior, and a strong Lycan warrior. She is a royal Lycan warrior, given her lineage, meaning that her aura in itself should have been enough to keep anyone away, even the humans. It’s just strange how the queen conveniently disappeared when Polina expressed her interest, to the palace maidservants, in being your queen, your highness, Kara said as she looked at the three men and Polina whose face was crunched up in anger.
It was clear that Kara had hit a nerve and that much made it harder for her to defend herself. Now that the Lycans thought about it, Kara did have a point. Having Polina around should have been enough protection for the queen but the woman had failed. This in itself called for an investigation, one that wouldn’t end so well, given how high the stakes were, but then it wasn’t like King Miroslav would be sitting idly as he waited for the woman to give him the answers he needed.
“You… Stay here. If you so much as try to make a run for it, I will hunt you down and I will find you, regardless of where you are. You should know that by now, Rostova,” King Miroslav said, referring to Polina by her official name, and that got Heion quietly hopping on his horse.
She
In situations like these, Heion always had something to say, but today, he couldn’t deny that the warrior had messed up. would have to face her truth when they came back. The only thing Polina needed to do was pray and pray hard because if anything happened to the Lycan queen, the entire realm would mourn for Polina.
“You can’t trust her! I am your best friend, Miro! You can’t choose a high guard over me! You can’t replace me a second
paid time!” Polina cried out and the kissing stared at her coldly. He had always known that Polina liked him, but he ne attention to her because he didn’t think it was significant. What he never failed to realize was the possibility that of this would turn into a probable obsession for the woman. He knew the women liked him but he had always been clear with them.
ALL
Polina, of all the people, should have known that best, and not acted like the world was coming down on her like this. This was unacceptable.
you
“Exactly. You should be thankful for that little fact. You being one of my very best friends is the only reason you are not in a dungeon right now, Polina. but don’t test my patience. If you know what’s good for you, you should go back and do the work abandoned when you went on an unsanctioned mission outside of Asmoria. I will come back, Polina, and you best “believe I will need answers. So be ready,” King Miroslav warned, and Polina whined. She hadn’t been threatened by the king like this but it was a turn on for her, perhaps she would dare to defy the dangerous king again? It was a bargain, but with one look at the enforcer and the Lycan beta, Polina knew it wasn’t best to do that right now.
“Fine. you will see for yourself that I didn’t do anything wrong,” Polina said begrudgingly, as she hopped on her horse and saddled back into the kingdom. She was fucked, she knew that already, perhaps she could salvage the situation, right? But how when they were going to Koslov?
Ignoring Polina, Miroslav and his warriors made their way across the borders, and into the Koslov pack. It wasn’t a long journey, but it was one that got everyone knowing that there was trouble finding its way to the kingdom. The Lycan king never came to werewolf packs on his own. He always sent envoys. The only place he never missed was the battlefield. So, for him to cross the realm and into Koslov, it had to mean that war was here. Perhaps that could explain why the wolves were already clearing the pathway for him and his warriors, the deadliest of them all.
“They look so basic,” Kara said as she looked around Koslov.
They were currently in the great opening where the alpha would come to greet them or send them away from Koslov. However, this time, the alpha wouldn’t be sending anyone away because he was Miroslav Ibrahimovich. Anyone who shunned Miroslav was dead, dead and dead. There was just nothing that could be done for that and maybe the alpha knew that too, because he rushed to see for himself what the heck was going on
“Hello, Rykar. Where the fuck is your beta?? King Miroslav asked
