Chapter 37
Koslov had known peace for the longest time. They took pride in it, especially since they never provoked any race, and made sure not to upset the Lycans. It was like second nature to them, so when they heard the Lycans shouting angrily in the name of their queen, their werewolves knew they were fucked. This had never happened to them and honestly, it was unsettling.
“Alpha!! The Lycans are here with their dark warriors,” one of the wolves rushed to Rykar who had been in his study. He had felt the shift in the air but he assumed that this was Drescher just being Drescher again. His best friend had been making trips to Moscow and Rykar hadn’t once asked what they were about, especially since nothing that he was doing was causing harm in Koslov. That was a long stretch but it was the simple truth that kept Rykar sane.
“The dark warriors? Are you sure?” the young alpha asked as he got up and looked outside the window. He couldn’t see anyone, but he could see the chaos in his pack. He had promised his father, the former alpha, that he wouldn’t trigger a war especially when his father retired and went to live in the human lands. His father had wanted him to create a legacy on his own, but barely three months since the lead alpha had left, they were having Lycans in their backyard. What the hell was he going to do to get out of this?
“Yes, alpha. They are here for their queen. The Lycan king came last week and he is back again. Alpha, does it mean that we have the Belyaeva girl within our walls?” the wolf asked worriedly. They knew what it meant to take something from a Lycan. The last time someone had attacked the Lycans, the poor family had ended up being burnt at the stake for crimes that they hadn’t committed. It was not the time for them to be playing games with the Lycans really, and everyone knew that
“That is what I need to figure out. Have you seen Drescher, Roman” Rykar asked the wolf, Roman who had shown up to him, Roman was a simple wolf, one that the alpha had taken a liking to. It wasn’t strange to see that but then right now, the only thing that mattered to the alpha was that he knew where Drescher Volkov was. If he was within the Koslov walls, then he needed to produce the Lycan queen. That was not negotiable, especially with the lives of the Koslov wolves at stake.
Everyone knew of the dark Lycan warriors or as the Lycans referred to them, the queen’s royal guards. That was one part of their history books that they had hoped to never witness, given their mentioned fury that got even kings to bend the knee. It was a hopeless one for Koslov now because the dark warriors they had been warned about were at their doors and were behaving like the angels of death to the people of Koslov.
The worst part about all of this was the fact that Rykar was aware the pack could be flattened if the beta didn’t come out and say where their queen was. All of this was making Rykar an incompetent alpha and that could cost their pack if it wasn’t already.
“Drescher Volkov!!” the king shouted, even though his voice was too loud, that his words came out as growls. He was still on his horse while the queen’s high guards were already slaughtering any and all wolves they could set their eyes on.
When it came to their queen, there were things that were not negotiable, especially the safety of her highness. And if they had to slaughter the entire Koslov just to get their queen, then that was what they would do. It was that simple and yet it was complicated at the same time. There were repercussions for the attack, but then Drescher knew better than to ally with Polina Rostova and take the first woman that Miroslav Ibrahimovich ever liked away from his dead mother. It was a dangerous and stupid play by Drescher and he would learn that
“They won’t stop the killing unless she comes out and stops them. She is their commander, so, what is going to be, Dresher Volkov? Are you going to let your wolves be slaughtered, or will you bring me my queen?” Miroslav asked, even though there was no question in his voice. It was a demand and a reminder that Drescher Volkov needed to step out or the entire pack would pay the price for it.
Alpha Rykar was still trying to think of a way out of this. He knew his people were depending on him and his beta, but then he couldn’t even get a hold of the beta himself. It was like the man had made a run for it, which was a pathetic move. especially after triggering the worst of wars. This was easily considered a betrayal but then Rykar couldn’t stay put within the safety of his pack house, or even tell the Lycan king that he wasnt sure his queen was here, right? Or maybe that would just buy them the time they needed? Oh, but this was a tense moment, and if the blood wasn’t already being shed, perhaps Rykar would have considered talks, yeah?
She is not here, King Miroslav. Your queen wouldn’t be here for any reason. Besides, the last time, she left this place on her

own volition. If she comes back to the nothingness here, it would just make her a rogue and we would banish her. You know the rules already. If she was here, I would have known,” Rykar said as she finally stepped out of his office only to meet the raging Lycan king and his deadly warriors. He knew that this was not going to be enough for them but what else could Rykar do when he didn’t have a proper answer for the king of kings? How was he to explain to this man that there was nothing they could help with?
“Are you sure about that? Because the tracking bond puts her here, in your damned pack even as you speak to me. We both know that Lycan magic is not something to be toyed with. It is the most accurate of them all, so you might want to reconsider what you are talking about, Rykar. Bring out your beth and tell him to let my queen out otherwise, the warriors will bring Koslov to its knees to the point that no one will ever remember what it once meant to be a part of this pack,” the Lycan king said and the werewolf alpha sighed.
If the tracker pointed to their home then there was something he could do other than try to reach out to Drescher again. So, he tried the mind links, telling his best friend of the madness that was going on, of the wolves that were being slain because of his selfishness. Rykar hoped that this was going to make the beta come out, but then he was met with nothing again.
“Please, Miroslav,” Alpha Kykar pleaded, but then the king was beyond that point of mercy.
“Burn them all.”
