Chapter 54
“This should be fun,” Ralph said softly, as she watched Alpha Bashir walk into the dining room in the palace. It was the largest of all and while it was special for the regions, right now with Viktor, Heion, and Kara seated at the table, it felt more like a family dinner. They had gone through the etiquette for the dinner, something that Kara had forced on them because she needed to make sure that outside of the messes that could actually take place, there was an abode that could still be worth fighting for.
The Bashir treaty was a much–needed one by the regions and they all knew it. However, if Miro got angry, then there wouldn’t be a treaty. With him, was the switch that could determine how explosive the dinner would be or how calm it would be given he was at the center of it all. This treaty would serve as an example to the wolves and other creatures like. But then if it was crewed, there was no telling if peace was ever going to be an option in the near future.
Kara had never heard her kind about anyone since time immemorial and yet when he had realized of Bashir and the Queen’s relationship, the King had asked her to do a background check on the Alpha. It was clearly not because the King wanted to get to know the damned Alpha better, and right here and now, Kara hoped that the dinner would be fine.
“Hello, Shehzadi, Alpha Bashir greeted, as he bowed his head fully, and went on one knee as he greeted the Queen. It was some things that their culture did when they loved a woman or appreciated the woman so much. It wasn’t hard to tell what this meant for Ralph, but then Ralphine hoped to the goddess that the Lycan King knew nothing of the customs in the region. However, that was a far stretch, because before she could say anything, she looked at her husband whose jaw was clenching a little too hard.
The King knew.
But would he act on his anger and jealousy at this point?
“Hello, King Miroslav and your high guards,” Alpha Bashir greeted once he got up.
He was wearing a full–on smirk, disguised as a mile, but the entire table could see through him. They knew what his intent was and they were not about to act on it. Kara had told them what would happen, and while it seemed like Kara was the only sensible one in the group, she was feeling the same rage. She just wished that the powers on the table wouldn’t be used because then it would be a full–on war for blood and more blood instead of the dinner that was so simple.
“Welcome, Alpha Bashir. We have been waiting for you for a while. We hope you didn’t get lost in the process. Asmoria just happens to be a big Kingdom and getting lost is nothing new for the visitors of the crown,” the King said casually like he hadn’t tried to kill the man ten times in his head and fucked him up more times than was possible.
Alpha Bashir was not new to history and it wasn’t surprising to him when the Lycan King was here staring at him like he was the first person who had threatened his entire regime. Well, Bashir wasn’t near Asmoria. And even then he was a threat, because he wanted the woman who was not easy to get, a claimed woman, one who would trigger centuries of wars. He wanted someone he couldn’t have, but then he was a determined soul.
“Thank you, your grace. I didn’t get lost. All I had to do was think of what Shehzadi could have done if she were in my situation and I found my way here. My best friend is a good guide and she taught me skills that couldn’t be forgotten in a while. You have yourself a gem beside you,” Alpha Bashir said and Ralph stared at him, wondering what the heck the man was thinking. There were so many ways to greet the King and ye he chose to play with fire.
“Let us eat shall we?” Queen Ralphine said, not leaving any room for discussion. She hoped to the goddess that there were rules that demanded that no political discussions be made at the dinner table. It was a long shot, for her, given this was new to her, but then what else could she do? Thankfully, the diner was silent. The Alpha and the Lycans shared the meal like they were a normal set of people, but when dinner was done, there was bound to be political discussions.
“So, what do you think about the treaty, Shehzadi?” Bashir asked even though he could tell that Ralph didn’t even know that he was coming to the Kingdom until he had shown up. Now that they were seated on the other side of the dining room, relaxing and letting the goof sink into their stomachs, he knew that there was no way that the King could ever get out of this It was a risk, if he didn’t include his Queen in it and as much as that was crazy yet appealing to Bashir, he hoped to the goddess that he wasn’t right.

Chapter 54
Just this once, he didn’t want to win.
“It’s a good one. Your people and our people have the resources needed to keep the realm stable. If the other packs join in, it would be best too. Though I doubt Koslov is going to make it on the list, given the stunt they pulled last time. As it is, there are sixteen packs with the exclusion of Koslov. Someone had to learn the lesson. From the records, your pack is the only one that isn’t with a treaty here. Perhaps that’s why you saw it fit to come and fix that… didn’t you, Alpha Bashir?” Ralph asked and the room was silent. Dead silent.
No one was saying anything and even if they wanted to, who the fuck was to start? Alpha Bashir himself didn’t believe that Ralph had that much knowledge. The Ralphine he knew hated studying and always believed in going to war even though she wasn’t allowed to be a warrior herself. It was a risk for her, but then hearing her now, Bashir was more than shocked. Lie wanted to imagine that the King had shared that in the mind link, but from the shock on the King’s face. This was new to him too. How the fuck was his Queen?
“Ahh… Yes. I came for the treaty. I see you have truly changed, Shehzadi. Last I checked you hated books but it seems like you understood the whole thing so perfectly. If you weren’t the Queen, I wouldn’t have taken you on a horse racing date. I bet you miss them, given we used to sneak out and raise the royal horses in Koslov,” Bashir said, and Kara growled. She wasn’t sure what the Alpha was smiling at, but it couldn’t be because he was disrespectful to their King.
Miroslav was understanding and quiet. He hadn’t done shit the entire night and yet this man was determined to make a fool out of them, he needed to understand that no matter what happened no matter what they were, there were silent rules to be followed. The King had been patient with the Alpha, even when he noticed him stealing glances at his Queen, despite the fact that the entire realm was aware that the King was mated to the Queen with them. It was annoying and frankly, Bashir was risking it.
“Do you think it would be appropriate for me to start talking about how you were a coward most of the time and let me take the bearings because you believe it would make our friendship stronger? Or how you thought I didn’t know you were banging the Alpha’s daughter despite promising you were my best friend? I doubt we all want to explore uncomfortable topics. Bashir. So, you can either focus on the treaty or the treaty will be sent back to Mirza and you can find it there. “Another mention of a past I want to forget and I promise it will be the last you step into Amsonia for the next six months, and you and I know that a lot can happen between packs in six months. You wouldn’t want to risk that, especially with me. now would you?” Ralph asked, her voice so cold that the King stared in shock. He had never heard of a woman that cold *before. She looked like the Alpha before them was suddenly an enemy and while it was exciting to watch, Miro knew he
didn’t want his wife to be in so much pain.
“Ralph… the King tried but his Queen didn’t budge.
“Social standings are there for a reason. You are the Alpha of a strong pack, but you seem to be forgetting that I am the Queen of a powerful Kingdom, the largest and most powerful army of all time. If you want to put that to the test, then you can keep making advances at me in front of my husband, and disrespecting my husband before me. Your words may leave this table and find their way to the servants and the entire kingdom. And suddenly everyone will begin questioning the morals of the Lycan queen.
“As much as I wouldn’t mind it, I would suggest you tread carefully, Alpha Bashir,” Ralph said, before she angrily got up, put her towel on the table, and walked out, her head held high. Kara was quick to go after her, as she was the Queen’s high guard and assigned protector. She knew that Ralph hadn’t liked what was going on at dinner about it to get to that point, she was so done with the man. Maybe this was what happened when life wasn’t letting her move on. They had many chances at a normal life and yet Bashir kept taking her back and forth. It was like he was enjoying the misery of the Lycan Queen. And it wasn’t fair, not at all.
“Careful how you talk to my wife, Alpha Bashir. The meeting can go sideways real fast next time, the King said and the Alpha stared at him before she looked in the direction where Raph had left. He felt like a dick for what he had done and wanted to apologize, but he knew it wasn’t something that he could earn easily. He knows that Ralph was not going to be so forgiving with him and he knows that she would probably carve him out and sell his skin to the traders.
“My sincere apologies, your highness. I was out of line,” the Alpha said and the King stared at him as if to remind him that this wasn’t the time to make advances. So much could go wrong and today, Raph had just gotten up from the table. Next time, she would want his head and the King would give it to her. He was never one to say no to the King

“That’s enough for today. We can talk about the alliance tomorrow, Goodnight, the King said as he got up too, with Heion and Viktor following, shaking their heads in disappointment. This wasn’t how they had imagined things to turn out but when what else could they do? They couldn’t believe the Alpha would stoop so low.
“Miroslav, let me make amends,” the alpha said and the King turned to look at him. It was no news that leaders would call each other and their names. So, this wasn’t a show of disrespect. Where there is nothing that the alpha could do to make the ruined evening better. Maybe if he disappeared it would make things easier for them, right?
“You can’t. You really can’t take the hints, do you? She fucking sent you away from the palace to avoid this shitshow you put us in, but it seems you’re always going to be so blind, aren’t you? Well, you did so great, in disappointing her. I hope you figure it out yourself. Because she might want me to kill you and I won’t say no to her, Bashir. You already know that,” sign said as he walked out of the dining room, leaving the alpha who was staring at the emptiness.
“Fuck,” was all Bashir could manage once he realized that they really were not coming and that he had screwed it up with Ralph too. He was in deep shit.
