Chapter 63
“Why do you keep accusing our visitors, Drescher? If I didn’t know any better, I would be certain you were jealous of the alpha who’s able to go back to his people and face them with a clear mind. The same can’t be said for you when you led a massacre to the doors of Koslov and you can’t even find a way to apologize to the woman you claim to be in love with. That is what a pathetic man looks like. Or maybe you should be giver mirror, huh? Viktor suddenly said, and Heion held back a chuckle. Their friend group was muts but between Drescher and Bashir, they were always going to choose Ralph.
These two men were only doing what was best for them in the same way the alpha was trying to indirectly fuck up the treaty so he would be able to let the world know that the Lycan king wasn’t even a man of his word. Such things were dangerous on extensive scales and with the fire tonight, it was going to be a little difficult to tell what the fuck was happening around them. Someone had tried to ruin the reputation of the Lycan king, especially since the fire in the dungeons would deem Asmoria a dangerous place for them to keep their prisoners, no matter what treaty was signed.
At the same time, it was important to remember that Miroslav Ibrahimovich wasn’t a joke. He was more beast than man for a reason, and soon some would have to learn that the hard way. He was the man who would get to the bottom of all of this and with his anger strangely motivated by the love he had for his Erasthai, he would make sure that whoever tried to screw up their kingdom would pay the price for it, no matter how long it took to get to the bottom of it all. That much was non- negotiable for the daring Lycan king.
“You people choose to be blind, but I know this bastard more than anyone else. I trained with him. I was there with him and even when he was here in these goddamn dungeons years ago. I was there with him too. Don’t tell me the great alpha didn’t tell you the part where he was a prisoner of Miroslav, during those times when your king hated all slaves. No Drescher asked angrily as he looked at the people he deemed incompetent to protect a woman he had caused so much pain,
Lafe was a lot of things but unhinged was the only thing that could be used to describe the current situation. No one had ever imagined that Drescher Volkov would ever be the one to make things right for the kingdom. Hell, he seemed to know more than he was getting on and if what he had said was false, Alpha Bashir should have said something, anything, but then he didn’t. Or maybe that was Bashir’s response to the things that Drescher was saying
“Shut him up. And everyone, go back to bed. We’ve already had one terrible night, let’s not extend it to morning. We can continue all the discussions then,” King Miroslav said, ignoring Drescher once again, which made everyone there staring at him like he was insane. They had all been suspicious of the alpha from day one and now the king was pretending like he didn’t suspect the man? What the fuck was even going on right now? And why was the king nonchalant in the presence of a potential threat to his people?
“Wait… you’re not going to act on that? You just heard him accuse the brooding Alpha of being in the dungeons and of probably conspiring to ruin the kingdom’s reputation and you’re just going to let him go? What the hell? Heion asked Miroslav who was nonchalant the whole time, you would think he didn’t just use a lot of his magic to put out a fire whose source was not known and in a pronoun when everyone except Drescher were unconscious. It was a long gamble, a huge one to be exact, and yet the great king was playing it low.
“Drescher is a poisoner of war. He is there for kidnapping the queen, harassing her, and lashing her back a hundred times. He has committed more crimes than the alpha who’s hopelessly in love with the queen. If I were to choose, I would choose the lover boy. Now finish up here and go to bed. As I said, tomorrow is a new day,” the king said as he left his beta and enforcer to take care of whatever was left there which was probably nothing.
“You don’t have to trust me, Heion. But you should trust that I want this treaty for the benef of both factions. I didn’t mean any harm to Asmoria and I don’t have a reason to hide anything. Like your king David, the only thing I did was to fall for the queen and she obviously won’t choose me. So how about we try to get alone in the remaining three days that I have in your kingdom!” Alpha Bashir said and the best friends rolled their eyes at him.
Alpha Bashir sounded like he had been training for this moment his entire life. His words sounded untrue and for some reason. His explanation for the royal betta and the enforcer is even more suspicious, but they let him be. So silently they watched as everything returned to normal even though the alpha smelled like fire, despite coming there when the fire had been put out. The two friends were speculating and most of the time, their speculations were never wrong. It wasn’t that hard to tell anyway.
“Let’s just go, Viktor said and Heion agreed, as they blocked the dungeon gates and returned to their chambers. That night,

however, none of the brothers slept. The king, the beta, and the enforcer had all been unable to agree on what the alpha was going on there. Even though they didn’t use the mind links with each other their relations were more than obvious. Perhaps they were wrong about Alpha Bashir, but what were the odds that the alpha was this kind because of the treaty?
“Are you guys awake?” the Lycan king asked in the mind link, two hours after they had gone to bed.
