Chapter 64
The King being awake wasn’t surprising anymore, even though he had almost had the best night of his life. He had been drained by the magic he used, and while it hadn’t taken a significant toll on his body, it reminded him of the times he had used his magic as much. He had never had to use it unless he needed to, but today, it felt like someone was testing the limits of the great Lycan King’s magical boundaries. Maybe there was more to it than what was seen, right?
“Of course we are. Drescher is a little too conceited to do it all to be faux. Besides he stands to lose nothing or even gain. nothing with his words,” Helon said, reminding his brothers of the mess that was in their Kingdom. They all despised Drescher Volkov, it was no secret. But the fact that all of this was happening at the same time was just not making any sense. Perhaps there was an easier way out of this right?
“I think you shouldn’t take this lightly, Miro. The man has been suspicious from day one. He couldn’t change the Queen’s mind about him and he doesn’t seem to be giving up anytime soon. We need to make sure that Drescher’s claims are investigated.” Viktor added but then the King had long made up his mind. If anything, he was already checking everyone’s mind to see if there was anyone who knew Bashir from before.
There was a lot that they needed to be wary of, but of them all, the alpha was the brightest of the red flags. He seemed a little too content with the way things were currently, and if anything, Bashir was determined to see the treaty through. He was willing to do whatever it took and while it was something expected from Alpha entering their first treaty with Asmoria. His excitement avas a little too much. It was suspicious.
“there’s nothing in the mind links about him. I think he already Sgured that we would suspect his enthusiasm, but the client had a problem. Tomorrow we will welcome him to the place. Actually, Ralph will do that. I’ll find a way to make her believe that Bashir being in the place is good and he will slip up. Whether intentional or not, that is what we need. For now, let’s get some rest,” King Miroslav said and his friend agreed in silence.
By morning, the stage was set and they just had to let Ralph recall he rode for the alpha to be in the weird guesthouses. Of course, it would be sudden but they could only hope that Ralph wasn’t going to ask so many questions. Perhaps they were trying to leverage the impossible but it was for the benefit of Asmoria right! If anything, they would be fine eventually,

Staying in his arms was something Ralph had gotten used to and frankly even as Miro greeted her with kisses on her forehead, she didn’t think too much of it. If anything, she just held onto him a little tighter like she wasn’t ever going to let him go.
“Morning… Why are you up so early?” Ralph asked as she lifted her head to look at the King,
His purple eyes were shining with love, something that she had gotten used to and loved watching. He was smiling down at her like she was the very centerpiece of his world. His hands wrapping around her, were pulling her closer like she was scared he would lose her if he didn’t hold onto her a little brighter. It was just the two of them, in their own world and eight even then, the King wanted to mute out everything and everyone. Unfortunately, it wasn’t always going to be that simple
with them.
“I wanted to ask something of you, love,” the King said and Ralph’s eyes lit up with excitement. She wasn’t sure what Miro. would ask of her, but the fact that he was even considering it. Made her feel like she was a part of his life. Of course, he never let her forget that she was his other half, but this was something else.
“Sure, what is it?” Ralph asked as she stared at him softly.
“I need you to tell Bashir he can come to live in the palace guest rooms for safety reasons. Tell him it’s part of the protocol for the fire that took place last night,” the King said and Ralph stared at him. This time, she sat up, almost like there was something stopping her. It should’ve been an easy thing for her, but then with everything she was slowly learning about Bashir, she wasn’t sure having the woman under the same roof as them was a good idea. It was probably the brightest of the ged flags, but what else was there?
“I don’t think that’s a good idea, Ibrahim,” Ralph said. Her voice was distant and the King instantly picked up on that. He had never heard her talk like that and he was worried for her. that she wouldn’t be alone in this. It was kind and considerate of him., but would he still remain the same if he knew what was in her mind?
“What’s wrong“” Miro asked.
“I don’t think you will want him in the palace once you know what I have to say,” Ralph said and Miro just stared in silence as he waited for her to start talking. He was curious, but at the same time, he was a patient man. This woman was everything to him and he would always listen to whatever came out of her mouth, even if there was a chance that it would be poison to his heart. He was more than ready to accept whatever was coming his way because of her, and he could only hope that it wouldn’t be as bad.

She loved this man and she hated that there were so many things popping up each time they were almost happy and carefree. However, she had to remind herself that whatever happened was because of work and they were a King and a Queen. Such things were bound to be expected from friends and foes alike. It was that easy, right?
“No, he didn’t.. last night, I saw him. He was there before we were and he had a burnt mark on his shirt. It was like only I could see him while the rest of you were blind to it. I didn’t want to pay too much attention, but when I saw the scars on his back. I knew he wasn’t here for any good. I know this isn’t what you expect of me, and trust me, this isn’t what I planned for either. But what if Drescher is right about Bashir? What if the only reason Bashir came to Asmoria was to seek revenge? He had no reason to go to the Amsonia dungeons that early when the treaty was finalized. I read the rules of law in Asmoria and
potential partner visiting the dungeons of the most dangerous Kingdom in the realm in the name of a treaty is not anywhere there.
“What if the bastard in the dungeons was right, Ibrahim? What if there is more to Bashir than meets the eye? For someone running a pack of delinquents and rogues who were banished from different factions, his acceptance of the treaty was a liule too fast. Of course, there’s the chance that he is doing this in the name of friendship. But then you and I both know that Mirza is one of the strongest packs. Bashir had been leading it for over four years. In all these years… Did they know about me in Koslov or even the conditions? Why wait until Drescher did what he did and then show up? Why wait until I was your erasthai for him to suddenly begin showing interest in me? Everything about him screams more suspicions,” Ralph explained and the King looked at her in awe.
“The Lycan King had been certain he fell in love with the right woman when he heard her talk the first time when he had seen her. He had been so adamant in hoping that she chose him and when she did, he was over the moon with it. However, hearing her talk about things that he hadn’t quite noticed, made him want to kiss her a hundred times over. However, he couldn’t because they still had more things to work out. Maybe when all of this was done and dusted and when they were sure they weren’t about to be pulled into a faux treaty, then they would be able to relax and enjoy all the time they had in the world.
“Which is all the more reason we need to have him close. The treaty is closing in three days, well two, if we don’t count today. And I would hate to sign a treaty with someone who’s got ulterior motives. We don’t know much about him, and we can’t judge him based on just Drescher’s words, given the man himself isn’t exactly the pinnacle of truth and the bastion of good vibes. Maybe his request for the treaty, and maybe it’s not. We have only three days to figure that out, and we need to do it as soon as possible,” King Miroslav explained to his erastha He understood her possible limitations but this was something that had to be done.
“You realize he will know that we are setting him up, right Ralph asked and Miro chuckled darkly, almost like he knew something.

“You were talking as the King to your Queen. And now that it’s sorted, could you please let me have my husband back if you don’t mind?” Ralph pouted, and Miro laughed heartily at how cle she was. She looked like someone had taken her candy and she needed it back before he called for reinforcements.
“Yes ma’am,” the King said as he pulled her back to bed, gently kissing her lips like they were everything to him. He loved the taste of Ralphine’s lips and he loved how responsive her body was to him. He loved how she made his world brighten and maybe that was also why as they went under the sheets, they both knew what would happen, and they didn’t bother stopping. After all, they had physicians in the Kingdom to fix whatever mess would come out of this, right?
“I love you,” someone whispered in between, as their hearts entwined and their marks were settled, not to mention their fates were bound to each other. It had been long overdue, but nothing would ever stop the feeling they both had. This was what happiness and new beginnings felt like right?
“As you live, so shall 1,” the king swore softly.
“Always, and forever, came another promise as the sheets witnessed what the Lycans could only describe as utmost excitement and happiness. Perhaps at the end of the day, they were more than just a broken couple, right?
