At his Erasthai’s voice, the king knew something wasn’t right. He wasn’t the kind to overthink, so he just stared at her softly as he helped her take a seat beside him on the grass. He had known over the years that someone speaking like that was one to give up and honestly, Miro couldn’t blame his queen. He would listen to her; he would know what was bothering her and he would find a way to make it all better for her. Whatever it was that she had in mind, he would always support her. After all, they were one and the same, part of a team that had the two of them, right?
“Tell me, askim… what is the matter?” the Lycan king asked as he looked into his mate’s eyes, her black eyes reflecting his purple eyes. They were calling on each other silently, only because his mate’s eyes were tired. Maybe it was because of what had happened earlier or maybe it was because no matter what happened, the decisions made would always be respected by her dear erasthai.
“I don’t think I can keep coming to the trials anymore. I know I promised to be the queen you need. But each time I look at Drescher or even deal with anything relating to him, I feel like my head will explode. I know this isn’t what you want to hear and it’s okay if you look at me differently or think of me as weak, but I just cannot, Ibrahim. I tried to hold on. I tried to keep myself sane through the trial, but each one of them was draining. It was like I was watching my abuser have the time of his life while I was just a prisoner in a queen’s regalia.
“I look at him and remember the pain he caused me, and all that the Koslov wolves did. He is a reminder of everything wrong with my life. Sure, I don’t regret meeting you, but if I keep listening in, hearing Drescher talk like the world is his to conquer, I think I might go insane. She trusted the king to deal with Drescher in his way. She also knew that the king was holding back all sorts of brutality against Drescher because she was always there and he didn’t want to make her feel like she was mated to a monster. Ralph already knew who she was amazed by. She owns the horror stories more than the beautiful stories about the king and even with all that she had stayed with him. She wished he could give Drescher the worst of punishments, and let her know if it
was all over or not
That was her only request even though it was like she had turned up to a match of insanity. Maybe there was a reason, who was she kidding, there was always a reason with King Miroslav and Ralph could tell that he hadn’t wanted her in there but had let her in because he thought it would be the easiest way for her to get her closure. But then it wasn’t working. Perhaps it was time for her to consider watching from a distance. Besides, she had been having a lot of fun interacting with the Lycans on a one–to–one level. It made it easier for her to know what their issues were, right?
“Oh askim. I am proud of you,” Miroslav said, making Ralph look at him like he didn’t know exactly what she had said to him. Which part of her giving up was even supposed to be proud of? She was stepping aside, leaving her role and what she had agreed to and he wasn’t even blaming her or staring at her differently.

“You have come so far, my love. I knew it was hard for you and I wanted you to take a step back, but I saw how determined you were over the past few months. I don’t blame you for this. Instead, I’m so very proud of you for holding on for a while. I’m not letting go of your hand my love, I hope you know that. But I will let you steer clear of the trials. Of course, you are always free to drop by whenever, but there is no pressure askim. Your happiness is my happiness and I hope to make you the happiest woman in the world, all hells be damned,” the king said as he suddenly painted her lips with his.
It was so sudden that Ralph almost shrieked, but as the kiss went on as their mouths blended in and their tongues held each other in a soft embrace, not to mention as the sparks flew in their body, they let themselves enjoy the moment. The king was dominant in the kiss holding her gently, kissing her like she was the only good thing that he could see in the moment. He loved her and he was expressing all his emotions in that kiss.
“I love you, so so much, askim. I don’t care if you want to miss all the trials. As long as you’re happy. AsJong as I get to come home to you. As long as you are not uncomfortable. I will be fine. Miroslav said as he gently upped his mate’s face. And stared into her eyes like he wanted her to understand that she was his world and whatever she wanted, he would give it to her.
“I love you, Ibrahim.” Ralph said as she leaned into the king resting her head on his shoulders before he gently shifted. positions and lay her head on his lap. They were still wearing their crowns out here and while Miro didn’t mind that the queen had hers on, he knew she wouldn’t be comfortable like that. So, he gently got it off from her head and put it to the side, releasing her long puffy hair. Goddess, Ralphine was a beatiful woman in every way. Her beauty was the kind that Miro was certain he would never find anywhere and maybe that why he was holding on to her with both hands to make sure that this wasn’t just a dream.
She was real, and that was his greatest flex.
“How have the Lycans been with you, askim?” Miro asked a few minutes into the silence. He had been staring at her, his tender eyes mastering her face and body like he was scared of losing her. He downed every part of her body and if he were
blind this instant, Miro would never forget the silhouette of the woman he was madly in love with.

“They’ve been okay. I thought they wouldn’t want me around them, especially after what we did to the fake Bashir and his father. I thought they would want me gone if I’m being honest. But they seemned to be on my side, which was so weird,” Ralph mused and Miro stroked her face lovingly, as he held her hand like it was the prettiest hand he’d ever seen. If there was something the Lycan king was good at, then it had to be making his Erasthai feel like she was the center of his world.
“They love you as their queen. It’s not about what you have gone through or what is going on with Drescher and shit. The Lycans always rely on each other. Most of the time other factions come to fight us, but we always win because we trust each other not because of anything we went through or even mercy. If they felt bad for you, they would tell me to not announce you as the queen until you were ready. They love you. Our people chose you and they will do whatever you want them to do. They will even walk on fire for you, because they trust you with their lives, askim” Miro explained earnestly.
