As the portal closed on Drescher, Heinn, and Viktor stared at each other like they had been expecting this for Drescher. They looked around the dungeon and could see the fires still burning and everything else just as Drescher had been thrown in here and it was interesting, to say the least. How a man so fickle could pull this off was beyond them, but then they had to remind themselves that the man had managed to stir up a revolution despite being in lockup for months, and with him being out of the dungeons in Astoria now, they were expecting in even larger revolution.
“They are brazen. I must admit, Heion said when he saw the fire was at the same intensity.
“At least we know they are heading back to Mirza. I’m still surprised that he left his family here. Either he has to be the craziest of narcissists or he just doesn’t care anymore.” Viktor said as he put out the fire signs the person it was meant for had managed to escape. It was interesting though, how Drescher had managed to send word out there to his family but Viktor didn’t want to think much of it. Maybe Drescher had just snapped from being alone in this side of the dungeons. Loneliness was bound to drive a man crazy anyway.
“He will come back for them. If I were in his position, I would do the same, regardless of the situation my family would be in.” Heion said once they were done with what they had come to do here.
The Lycan king had sent them earlier to come and check what was causing the waves and the mild ground shakes. The source was pinpointed to these particular dungeons and now that they figured it out, they knew that their mission was officially on, especially now that the queen had stepped back from the investigation and merciless battle of the dead and the undead. It was going to be chaos after chaos subsequently and it was a good thing she wouldn’t see it, or she would be fucked up in the head.
“Well, then that’s going to be interesting given the runt of events, Let’s get out of here,” Viktor said as they walked to the exit on the furthest end of these lonely dungeons. The exit led them to the regular Asmoria dungeon where the prisoners were. Ever since the little fire stunt pulled by the fake Bashir, the Lycan king had made sure that no amount of magic would be used down here, which meant that the torture methods were more brutal and a little too unhinged. It was like they were in some damned episode of the lonely walking dead, only that they had weapons and minds that had seen the best ways of
torture.
The prisoners had gotten more scared of what the Lycan would do to them, seeing as the magic was sometimes used to knock them out so they would get some good rest and forget what they had been through. Without the magic, no one would be able to fix their pain. No one would ever be able to tell what would happen to them no matter where they were in these dungeons. The fact that the Lycan warriors were also training here and could sometimes take a jab at the present didn’t make it any easier on them. These dungeons had become an upgraded hell for many and it was heartbreaking.
“We’ve been training so hard that it scares even me, man,” Heion said as he watched the Lycans play around with swords like they were just spoons. The Asmoria warriors were dangerous to everyone including themselves. Their tactics and antics were so terrifying that there had to be a rule that demanded that the warriors not play games like that when they were home and when there wasn’t a battle that needed them to line up and save their home. It was that simple because, at the end of the day, they were beasts of a kind. Beats that couldn’t be tamed by anyone and they were beats that were led by the devil himself, a devil that got them on their knees without even saying much.
“The border patrol is even scarier and more interesting. They keep reminding us of who we truly are. Just this morning they managed to capture eleven rogue Lycans who had crossed over from Mirza to come to Asmoria again in the name of refuge. They are being held in the border house. We should head there after reporting to Miro about the Drescher situation,” Viktor explained, the excitement in his voice so obvious and expected by his best friend. This was to them what normal looked like, and even after what happened along the way, it would be the best of things that they ever did and they had no regrets for it
anyway.
“Polina would have done so well. Thinking of Drescher escaping, us letting him, and him being out there leaving his family makes me want to ask him why he chose Polina. Surely there had to have been other Lycans,” Heion said sadly as I thought back to the one memory that was too painful for everyone in Asmoria. It was like an unspoken memory because it was too much even for their minds to bear. They Were strong until someone would dare to mention anything related to Polina.

But then that was the thing. There was no way they could avoid talking about Polina because she had been an integral part of their lives. She had been their best friend and they had to figure but the kind of shit that Drescher had on her father to make it so ea
for the Elder Rostova to let his daughter be threatened like that and even blackmailed into high treason. It was never going to be something they forgot, and perhaps the warriors shared that same thought because while they had been done with the Polina and Bashir case, there were still pending answers and the possibility that someone in Astoria was a
traitor.
“It will be fine,” Viktor comforted even though he was feeling the same.
“Beta, enforcer, the king claps for you urgently,” Nikita, the Asmoria messenger warrior said to the video that was watching the passionate warriors train with each other. They were preparing for war anyway, so they had to be at their best, no?
“Is anything the matter?” Heion asked curiously, seeing how disheveled the warrior was.
“A letter came from Koslov. The wolves are demanding their heiress back,” Nikita said and Heion burst out into fits of laughter. Surely the wolves had to be high on shit, right? This couldn’t be real, there was no way anyone in their right mind would believe that was real, especially on the same day that Drescher Volkov had escaped the Asmoria dungeons. It was crazy enough already, but what else was there for them to think over?
“Quite convenient, don’t you think?” Viktor commented with a sigh as he looked at his best friend who was laughing his guts out. The laugh was sarcastic and held some sort of pain and assurance. It was insane and unplanned and that in itself got Viktor reminded of the pain that these dungeons had given them.
“I’m just a messenger. Come, the king is waiting,” Nikita insisted before he led the way out of the dungeons and the two royals followed closely behind with stoic faces.
