At his friend’s statement. Heion let out a frustrated sigh. The Lycan king didn’t want to take care of himself and as tempting as it was for them to go to the queen and tell her what the king was doing, they both knew that the king needed this. It was strange though; how easy it was for everything to come down on him like this. Maybe he would reconsider tall and actually let them do the heavy lifting for a while before he came back and got them in line again, it wasn’t that hard because Miro was a man who had something to lose this time.

He would do whatever it took to make sure that she didn’t feel unsafe, and overwhelmed by the bastard that had decided to come at her again. It was a cruel thing really but then what else was there for the queen and King? What else would they do when Drescher was like a shadow towering over them and one that brought with him so many terrible memories not to mention one that was so brazen the universe was still taking notes on how to be that cruel and dumb at the same time.
Drescher Volkov had done a number on them and there was no point in denying that. he had single–handedly made the Lycan King question whether being good was a thing or he just needed to be the big bad King that everyone knew. He was honestly at his wits end with Drescher and a little more push from the bastard and the Lycans would be making soup with his bones. Drescher was the one person the King hated more than life itself and Miro hated life for a long time now.
“Yes, I did.” Heion said, seeing as there was nothing that he could talk Miro out of it into this time. He wanted to tell Miro that he didn’t need to do this, but then even he was aware that the King was stuffed in his brain and he needed a break from all the madness. It was something peculiar, but what they could all agree on was the fact that if they weren’t careful, their King would turn off his humanity, which would easily be the worst thing that could ever happen in the entire realm. A devil was already without humanity, but an Ibrahimovich would be worse than the devil with that little switch off.
“Great. We need to leave for the borders this instant,” the king said as he looked at his friends. He could see the wheels turning in their heads and he knew he couldn’t ask, because if he did, then he would be giving them a chance to talk him out of this, which was not something he wanted to do. He would make sure that everything was as he needed it to be and no matter what happened along the way, he would make sure that no one screwed this up for him again.

“Alright, sure. What happened?” Viktor asked, his tone soft and curious yet understanding. The more they stayed with the King, the more they knew him differently and the better they were at understanding him. It was an achievement of sorts even though this was based solely on their friendship. They would eventually get a hold of everything and they would have their peace, right? It wouldn’t be so hard, no?
“There were a few rogue Lycans caught at the border while you were on the other side of the dungeons. We need to go see what they want and why they dared to come back to this side. It couldn’t be a coincidence, especially with the way that Drescher was released. I thought it was a distraction, but then it was pointless. They had to have known that already by now. So, I need to know what they kept at it even with all that in mind. Either they are growing more brazen, or they did something at the border and we have to make sure that no one in the kingdom is hurt,” the king said to his best warriors.
The intruders at the borders were something else. When the report had first come in, the king hadn’t been surprised, But then when another came in and talked of them being covered in wolfsbane, and masked their scents, then it was more than clear that there was some agenda there. No one in their right mind would so willingly cover themselves with wolfsbane and walk that far from Mirza with it. It was dangerous for all the Lycans, not to mention wolves alike. It was almost like they were intending to attack the kingdom indirectly like that. If the warriors at the Asmoria borders hadn’t been so keen, they could have gotten in.
Then again, it raised the question of where they had gotten their confidence from. No one who knew the Lycan king would be that stupid to come and try that shit, especially when his queen was in the kingdom. It made the king wonder what the main intent was and what they aimed at getting out of all this. It wasn’t a coincidence that this was happening to them right after the queen had stepped down for the Drescher trials. It was no coincidence that it also came barely a day after the grand decision to torture the information out of Drescher had been made, not to mention the fact that Drescher’s family was still in Asmoria. All of these were not lucky attacks and the king needed answers.
“That was a daring attempt. I have a feeling they are here for more than just Drescher or his family. Maye they are aiming

for the queen this time, Heion said as he listened to Miro. There was no way that all of this was happening suddenly and no one was even accounting for them. The rebels had long fallen back and were waiting for their master to come home to them. Sure, they would be back up now that Drescher was out of the Asmoria dungeons, but the attacks happening right at the time that Drescher was escaping were also no coincidence. Perhaps Heion was onto something with his assumption too, right?
“The high guards are with Queen Ralphine all the time, so they won’t stand a chance. As for Drescher’s family, they are in the special room meant for isolated patients who experienced shock. So, they don’t have a chance of escaping either. That

He looked weak and fragile but even then, his eyes still held the darkness that could identify him as the deadliest Lycan alive. He was an Ibrahimovich and he would get his vengeance for his wife no matter what the fates sent his way. Perhaps his friends had already deciphered that which was why they weren’t even bothered when he led them out of the throne room. They both knew that they were heading to the border to ask questions in the nice Miroslav kind of way that got the universe on its knees.
“What if he just wants to play games? He already knows the Lycan queen can never be his. He knows that she won’t ever choose whether he turns into a saint today or not. He already is aware that she won’t accept his apology for the carelessness he showed her. What if there is more to this, like triggering a war between Asmoria and the Koslov pack? But that also doesn’t make sense because most of the rebels are from Asmoria, not to mention most of them want the impossible. Also, Nikita also mentioned that we were summoned because the Koslov pack wants their heiress back. What the fuck is that even supposed to mean?” Viktor asked confusedly.
He had tried to make sense of everything but up to this moment, nothing was making any sense to him. It was like the universe was screwing with them over and again, as if to see where their breaking point was and what they would do when they got there. The king was so close to losing his mind and his friends were also on the same road with him. Life was screwing them over once again, but this time, they wouldn’t let it go just like that.
“Yeah. The dumb fucks think this is some shitshow and they’re trying to be the ones with the plot twists and stunts. They fucked my Ralph up and now they are just starting to realize that they lost an heiress. I bet this is just another plan by Drescher. Anyway, let’s get going. We need to be done with the intruders before we can send the first batch of warriors to the regions we will be attacking. This won’t be easy for anyone but we have to do it,” the Lycan king said as they walked the border today. There was a lot of work for them and with their humanity no longer being controlled for the queen, they were bound to be at their worst, and that was what they aimed for.
The fact that Ralph had decided to let Miro do whatever he wanted with her case was something that was very dangerous, because the lucky king was the devil, and his queen would see the first real instance of that, very very soon. This wouldn’t just be about them eating bodies together or even doing the unthinkable before humanity could even count them as one. This would be about the levels that an unhinged king was willing to go for the woman he loved with all of his life. Frankly, there were no limits to him and that made him the scariest of them all.
They would all soon learn that anyway.
