Chapter 90
IMIROSLAVE
Drescher’s disappearance had reminded the Lycan king that cockroaches would always remain to be cockroaches and they would find their way whenever they weren’t needed just to be a nuisance over and over again. King Miroslav was aware that this wasn’t going to be easy no matter how it seemed, especially with Drescher being that bold. The mad King had the upper hand this time, he was aware there would be challenges soon. He was expecting them and yet at the same time, whatever logie had been used here, should have been conflicting like that However, as the king waited for an answer from the intruders, he knew that he was right.
This was the worst distraction that had been sent his way. He contemplated killing them instantly, but that would just be a waste of time and energy for him. They wouldn’t talk. He knew that because they were Lycans and the fact that they had been allowed to come to this side of the realm, meant that their tongues were cut out, their magic drained and their mind- linking abilities stopped. They were shells of who the normal Lycan was and the king knew they wouldn’t be useful to him. However, even then, the Lycan king watched in amusement as he waited for whatever the hell had been said. The initial report would differ and Miroslav was already aware of that so damn well.
“Sire, they haven’t said a word since they captured them. Mhey made a silent oath or something one of the warriors said and Miro shook his head at the warrior, making the man stare at him like there was more than the king needed to say to help them. The ten intruders were too calm for people who had been captured and brought to the deadly King who ate flesh whenever he felt like and rank blood like the animal he was.
“They won’t… Let them be. Release them and close the borders. They won’t try crossing over because they are useless to us and their mission to distract us is complete. I must admit, Drescher was quite handsy with his escape approach, but then it won’t last long,” the king said to the warriors. He had been a royal highborn for over two thousand years. He knew what to expect whenever someone came into his home. Asmoria was his life and everything and he wouldn’t let anyone screw it up for him. He would deal with them accordingly.
“But-” the warrior began and Heion interrupted him.
“If the king says they are useless, then they are useless. We have other things to do than listen to Lycans who don’t have
from mind links. Or even their rogues. They have nothing to show for their appearance here, whatever message you got them is also useless because it probably expired before they got here, seeing as Drescher is gone. Now get back to work and make sure that no one crosses the damn border again. And where are the overwatch warriors? What the fuck were they doing when these useless fucks made it to this side?” Heion asked.
He could see the intruder Lycans were in the air. They had needle marks on their arms, almost like someone was experimenting on them. It was crazy and cruel but then that didn’t matter to Heion at the moment. These Lycans had forfeited their right to be treated as one with the Asmoria Lycans when they ran away and betrayed the crown. The thing about the kingdom of Asmoria was that there were never rogues. The defaulters were always dealt with within the borders. The Lycan rogues were few, but only because they had been corrupted.
Most of them used black magic to make themselves powerful and the universe had fought back and outside them ten girls by making them blokes. Well, at the moment it seemed like the universe wasn’t done with them anyway. So, he, just like their king, wouldn’t bother with them. He knew that there were more important things to work on than this, but then why did it feel like a lot was about to change this time? Why did it feel like their world was about to get a little crazier than they had anticipated? Would it ever be enough for them to make things right? Would it ever count when they are done with the battle with Drescher?
“Let’s get going,” Viktor said and they all began walking swaying, only for Kara to stop in her tracks like she had suddenly realized something.
“Wait… Let me check the warriors,” Kara said and King Miroslav looked at her with a bored face. It was obvious that the warriors were useless but then Kara seemed to have a different idea of all this. The king had been looking at them from his perspective, the one that had been coupled with experience, and if he went with that, then he was right on so many fronts, but not all of them. Maybe they had known that the king would see what could be glanced at with his experience, but perhaps a new set of eyes would do them some justice, right?

“Alright. What is it? Teton eşked and Kara just kept going towards the warriors. They had been released as ordered by the king and yet instead of making a run for it, they were walking away, like they had completed their mission. If anything, they seemed to be happier and siniling like they hadn’t just been kicked out of Asmoria. But what if that was what they wanted? What if they had been sent to come to the borders and check in with the warriors to see how many there were? What if there was more to this than met the eye?
“I’m getting reports that there are more intruders in the entire kingdom. Most of them are in the same state as the ones who are going away. This is getting a little too suspicious,” Viktor said as he sniffed around. He could sense the air change and they all knew that something was amiss. So, while Kara went to take a second look at the warriors who were walking away, the Lycan king raised the Asmoria kingdom dome. It was an impenetrable dome that had three layers on it.
The innermost layer was meant for the people of Astoria to live freely in, while the second dome was for the high guards to make sure that no warrior intruder slipped past the warriors and made it to the Asmira Lycans. The third dome was for the warriors to step into, just in case there was an attack. It was the outer dome, the one that separated Asmoria from the rest of the world.
It was all so sudden, but in the process, the king had made sure to drag the introducers back into the third dome so they could get to understand more of what was happening. Shit wasn’t meant to be like this and no matter what angle they looked at it from, it was a little too suspicious for them to go on and play dumb.
“What is it, Miro?” the enforcer asked as the king’s guards rushed to them and the Asmoria warriors lined up ready to defend the kingdom. It was all too sudden and frankly, it was scary for a moment. The Asmoria domes had never been raised at the same time, not all three of them. The kingdom had always been able to protect itself from everyone and while that was the case for the moment, the Lycan king had to make sure that no one who didn’t have to be inside the kingdom was in there. It was a precautionary step and boy was it dangerous and thrilling at the same time.
“No one leaves, unless we confirm what they came here to do. Tell that to the other warriors and spread the word. Make them understand that not a soul is to leave the done until we are done. I don’t care if we have to do this for a month or more. And tell them that if anyone touches my queen, the realm will burn in ways that no one will ever forgive, not even the deities,” the Lycan king warned and Viktor understood him loud and clear. That right there was a threat, not just to the realm but to Asmoria too. The Lycan king loved Asmoria with all of him, but if he lost his queen, he would go insane and probably kill all of the Lycans if there was less than a day. That was how bad the Lycan rage was, no wonder many people tried their best to remain composed most of the time.
“Yes sire,” Viktor said as he reached out in the mind links. Heion was doing the same, white Kara was checking out the intruders. Other than the visible entry points on their skin, there was a dark mark on their arms, almost like it was a birthmark. But then birthmarks were never the same for more than three people. That right there was a mark that someone had branded on the Lycans and Kara knew it too. So, she stared at them one more time, inspecting them in their state as she looked out for any and all hints as to what could have brought them to Amoria.
She could see their toes were covered in red soil, but then the realm never had any red soil unless they were in the Mirza Pack which was expected. Again, that was a relationship that Kara noted as she kept on inspecting them. She had a feeling there was more, and when she pushed her hand on the side of one of the warrior all the intruders winced in pain. Kara did it again, this time, on purpose and the reaction was the same. They could hear the same cry from all the checking stations in the kingdom, and it was disappointing to some extent. This shouldn’t have happened and yet it had and that was the one thing that would shut them for quite a long time.
“What is it, Kara?” the Lycan king asked as he watched his warrior check the intruders. He was impressed by how quick she was and most of the results that Kara got from them was proof that there was something more. So, Kara pressed on, again. There were ten intruders on this side of the border. It wasn’t clear how many were sound in the kingdom but one thing was certain. They were a lot. That was a disturbing truth but then they were way past comfort at this point anyway. So, they would figure it out together.
“They smell of gunpowder, which doesn’t make any sense since they are supposed to be Lycans. By nature, we are expected to react to the silver bullets and the powder but they are standing there smiling like there isn’t much we can do to them. They have accepted their fate, a little too easily. They could have run away. They could have walked and never looked back and yet when they had their chance to go back home, they didn’t run. They walked home. That was too easy. Maybe I’m being paranoid, but the way they reacted wasn’t the kind of way that anyone would react when their lives were in danger.
“They should have shown the slightest bit of emotion, but then there was none. Whatever it is, we need to be on the lookout

for explosives, Kara satd and the ten intruders stared at her, their faces instantly turning as they looked at the woman who seemed to be foiling their plays. She was a piece of work and they would eventually get to know that anyway.
The king looked at kara and then at the intruder Lycans. He couldn’t still exude whether these men were the explosives themself or not. he couldn’t tell if they were triggers for something, anything. He needed to get the answers but then it wasn’t always that easy and fast sometimes. The intruders were silent now that Kara seemed to be discussing their motive. It was like they were worried about slipping up, but then they hadn’t exactly slipped up. They had reacted to something that was their possible motive and hadn’t still given them any realistic answers. All of this was frustrating and confusing. They didn’t have a chance at maybes.
I am missing something and it’s frustrating me… come on think with me, your majesty. If you were them. If you did have a rogue and the ability they lack and still had to go on a mission, one that didn’t need you to lift so much as a finger in a war, what would you use to communicate with each other? Other than the kidneys that are a little too connected to fool us they are programmed the same. Maybe they were told to flinch when one of them flinched. Maybe they were trained for this.
“Maybe they were yet to get to their target. So, tell me, what would you sue if you were them?” Kara asked her king and King Miroslav stared as he thought of the possibilities and the answer that Kara was hoping he would have. He knew that Kara was somewhat right and with heroin and Viktor occupied, the two of them needed to figure this out. It wasn’t going to be a walk in the park, but they had to decipher it all otherwise they would lose even with the domes high up.
“The strengths of any pack kingdom lies in their Luna or queen. A king can rule and live for long, but if the queen is taken out, the king won’t live anymore as he will lose interest in everything including the kingdom, and have a broken heart. The king will lash out and then the kingdom would eventually fall. Being her like this, they would definitely target the queen. But then from what Drescher had said to Hei and Viktor, he and his team had to have known that Quen Ralphine wouldn’t be involved in the trials anymore.
Which meant that they would have to use the person who would interact with the Lycan queen more than the king himself Someone she trusted, someone the king trusted. Someone who she wouldn’t suspect and someone that had nothing to lose,” the king said as he looked at Kara, his eyes narrowing and splitting into slits as he realized what was there before them the whole time. They had both just solved the worst of riddles, but then why was none of them happy with the realization that that was? Could it really be that bad?
