As Mindy was speculating about the woman’s identity, Stanley took her hand and stepped forward. “Dad, Mom, this is Mindy.”
Mindy’s mind was buzzing as she paled. She called out in a constrained manner, “Mr. Fuller, Mrs. Fuller.”
She was somewhat anxious as she hoped that Griselda didn’t recognize her.
Griselda was in conversation with Lenora when she noticed Mindy out of the corner of her eye. She gave Mindy a casual glance, hummed in acknowledgment, and then continued her conversation with Lenora.
Mindy’s heart skipped a beat. As she peeked at Lenora’s expression, she felt aggrieved.
It was pretty clear that her mother–in–law didn’t like her
She wouldn’t have minded Griselda not treating her nicely at home, but that was her first visit to the Fuller residence. To receive such cold treatment at that moment made her wonder if anyone would respect her in the future.
Mindy glanced at Stanley, hoping that he would speak up for her.
As if he hadn’t noticed anything, Stanley simply led her to the couch and sat down.
Lenora suddenly felt a sense of relief when she saw Mindy trembling with fear.
Although she was once married, Ronald and Madeline had passed away, and Tamara spent most of her time abroad, so she had never encountered any mother–in–law issues.
Griselda had always been kind to her but appeared to be an evil mother–in–law in front of Mindy.
Griselda was an elder, so she could openly criticize Mindy, but it wasn’t appropriate for Lenora to say anything against Mindy, especially when Mindy came to see her off.
As such, during their conversation, Lenora would occasionally prompt Mindy. However, Mindy felt somewhat embarrassed in front of Lenora and didn’t respond much.
At lunchtime, Mindy mustered the courage to take the initiative and serve Griselda some food. However, Griselda’s expression remained indifferent, not touching the food at all.
In response, Mindy paled.
Lenora thought that if Zachary had not registered everything under Ronald’s name, her mother–in–law would have been Tamara, and she would likely have found herself in a situation similar to Mindy’s.
Once they finished lunch, Stanley escorted Mindy back home.
Mindy didn’t want to spend another moment there. As soon as she entered the car, she scowled in silence.
Stanley reminded her, “Fasten your seatbelt.”
“No. I don’t care if the baby’s dead,” Mindy said defiantly. “It’ll spare us the trouble of getting married. After all, your family didn’t like me, and you just stood by and let them bully me.”

“If that’s what you want, then we can visit the hospital and terminate the pregnancy,” Stanley said calmly, his gaze fixed straight ahead.
Mindy turned to Stanley in surprise, even doubting her own hearing. “What did you say?”
“I said, if you don’t want to get married, then go to the hospital and terminate the pregnancy.”
“I…” Mindy was flabbergasted. “When did I ever say I didn’t want to get married?”
“Just now.”
“I… I was just speaking out of anger! Why didn’t you defend me when you saw your mother treating me coldly?”
“Even if I did this time, I’m normally busy with work and often not at home. What will you do then?”
“What’ll happen in the future can be discussed later.”
“Before you came, you should have known my mother’s stance. I thought you wanted to come because you were confident that you could win my family’s affection, not to bring humiliation upon yourself.”
“You…” Mindy was beyond furious, unable to understand what kind of person Stanley was.
At times, he would fulfill all her requests, but sometimes, he wouldn’t show any mercy.
Stanley continued, “Since you’re here to bid farewell to Lenora, you should’ve focused on that and not allowed your attention to wander. Don’t do things you’re uncertain about, but if you’ve already done them, face them bravely. Don’t dwell on it. Sometimes the more you think about it, the more it hurts, when in fact, others may not even care.”
Mindy came over under the guise of bidding farewell to Lenora, so she should’ve focused on that. Instead, she turned her attention to curry favor with Griselda, yet she couldn’t handle the fallout of her failure. In the end, she embarrassed herself.
Mindy pouted in irritation. He made it sound so easy, but he wasn’t in my shoes. He has no idea about the difficulties I face. “But… I only wanted your mother to like me so that you wouldn’t be caught in the middle and feel awkward.”
Stanley replied, “No need. If you can’t get along with my parents, then don’t force yourself to interact with them. Let’s just keep the peace.”
Mindy glanced at Stanley’s cold expression, seething with anger.
In the Fuller family, she barely knew one person, Lenora. With Lenora gone and Stapley not allowing her to approach his family, she was left waiting for the inevitable moment when she would be cast aside.
Stanley’s expression remained calm and indifferent as if he wasn’t thinking about that at all.
Upon arriving at Mindy’s rented place, Stanley parked the car by the roadside. “I won’t go up. You should rest well and think carefully about what I’ve said.”
With a huff, Mindy turned her head and exited the car
Stanley turned around and drove off to the company.

As he took a right at a certain intersection, a figure suddenly darted across his field of vision. Stanley immediately slammed on the brakes.
The woman, clutching her phone, stumbled and fell to the ground.
When she was crossing the road, her phone slipped from her grasp. Her immediate reaction was to go back and pick it up.
Before she could rise after picking up the cell phone, the woman saw a car heading straight toward her. Her heart leaped into her throat, and she froze. Startled, she ended up sitting right back down on the ground.
Stanley unbuckled his seatbelt and stepped out of the car, looking at the pale woman on the ground. “Did I hit you?”
The woman nodded absently, but when she realized what he was asking, she shook her head.
“Did I hit you or not?”
The woman struggled to her feet, putting her phone back into her pocket. She held her slightly aching stomach and said, “No.”
“Don’t ever do something that dangerous again.” Stanley glanced at her, turned around, and returned to his car.
He started the vehicle again and drove off.
“Madison, you scared me to death just now,” her classmate approached, gripping her arm. “Thank goodness that person stopped their car in time. Otherwise, you would have really been hit.”
Madison’s complexion was still somewhat pale. “I was terrified too.”

“So what if your phone was crushed? There was no need to take such a big risk to retrieve it.”
“I must have been out of my mind back then.” Her initial reaction was that getting a new phone would cost a lot of money, so she rushed forward.
