The light in he surgery room turned green. The doctor came out.
“He was brought here on time. Now he’s stable, but he’s too weak to leave the hospital.”
I calmed down. Jake’s parents went to pay the bill, Jake and I went to see Grandpa.
Grandpa awoke three days later. He sighed and wiped my tears.
“I’m too old. It was just a fall and I fainted for three days.”
I held his hand.“Grandpa, you’re not old! You’ll live long and watch my baby grow!”
“I’m going to be a great–grandfather? Then I must live longer!”
I was seven months pregnant when I heard about the birth of Wand’s child, who was soon was diagnosed with hemolysis. More shockingly, the child’s blood type was A.
Wanda was O, Grant B. The baby wasn’t his.
Grant’s family left the hospital furiously. Grant only married Wanda for this child, and it turned out that the child wasn’t his.
Wanda went to the hospital where she did her IVF and was told that the whole thing was a mistake. The nurse had given her the wrong sperm.
That nurse was fired, but to Wanda, it was meaningless.
Grant was wheelchair–bound, and he couldn’t operate anymore. He wasn’t that kind to raise another man’s child.
His parents couldn’t accept it, neither could Him. But it gave him hope. Now that the child wasn’t his, was there any chance Rosie would get back together with him?
First, he needed to divorce Wanda.
But it was difficult. Wanda refused to sign the divorce papers, cheated on him. He could only wait.

Six months later, I had a baby girl, and Grant couldn’t wait any longer.
He arrived in Nightfall pack at 8 PM, looking disheveled. I almost didn’t recognize him.
He called my name, and I finally made the connection between the man in front of me and the man I used to be crazy for.
I looked behind him.“You came alone?”
