Chapter 112
Chapter 112
Meanwhile, at the capital of Riverstone.
“Is this what you call foolproof?” Samuel yelled, shoving Samantha onto the sofa.
She hit the corner hard, wincing in pain as tears filled her eyes. “Samuel, this was an accident-

His gaze was icy as he stepped closer, gripping her neck. “An accident? Really? Then why did you promise me it would be foolproof?”
“It’s not that! Just listen to me. I didn’t expect her to contact anyone. I’m sorry, Samuel. They don’t know it’s us. Trust me, we still have a chance. They won’t find out,” Samantha pleaded, her hands clasped together in desperation.
Samuel shot her a mocking glance, his expression twisting with anger. “They won’t know? Do you even realize who that guy is? If this gets out, you might as well start planning your funeral.”
He suddenly let go, and Samantha tumbled off the sofa, hitting her forehead on the coffee table. Blood started gushing out.
Fresh red blood trickled down her forehead. She touched the wound, her face paling in shock. “Can you… take me to the hospital please?” she asked, her voice shaky.
“Hospitals? For a little scrape? What are you thinking?” Samuel snapped. “There’s a first aid kit over there. Clean yourself up. I don’t want to see any blood, especially not on the carpet!”
He tugged at his bow tie, his expression dark and menacing. The prey he had in his grasp had slipped away, and at that moment, he felt like strangling Samantha.
Samantha, choking back tears, clutched his leg. “Samuel, it really was an accident. They won’t know, I promise! If anything goes wrong, I’ll handle it myself. Didn’t you say you love me the most?” Her blood–streaked face was a mix of desperation and fear as she looked up at him with her beautiful almond–shaped eyes, pleading for his understanding.
Samuel looked down at the woman half–slumped on the carpet, then casually moved his legs away. He shot her a cold look. “Love you? Are you dreaming? If you behave, I might keep supporting you. But if you screw up again, you’re in a serious trouble.”
With that, Samuel tossed out his words like trash and turned to leave, completely unconcerned about her injuries.
Samantha clenched the carpet, biting her lip as anger bubbled up inside her. She was in this position because of Ash.
If it weren’t for that woman, she and Tristan would be fine. They wouldn’t be in this mess, and she wouldn’t have to shamelessly beg another man for help.
Now, at the Moreno family’s house.
“What on earth happened to you?” Lorelei asked, still putting on a facial mask, but her shock was clear as she took in Samantha’s state.
In the end, Samantha skipped the idea of going to the hospital, finding a disinfectant in the villa to clean her wound and wrapping it in gauze. Blood still stained her face.
Glaring at Lorelei, resentment was all over Samantha’s face. “Do you even care what happened to me?”
“Sweetheart, why would you think that? I’m your mother,” Lorelei replied, peeling off her mask and stepping closer. “Where did you hurt yourself?”
When Lorelei reached to check Samantha’s injury, she swatted her hand away. “Where were you when this happened?”

Chapter 112
“I had no idea you were hurt! Why are you so mad at me?” Lorelei said, confused.
Just then, Dexter, who had been down and out lately, stormed out of his study. He shouted, “What’s all the noise? Can’t you keep it down?”
Samantha rolled her eyes, her voice dripping with sarcasm. “Dad, aren’t you even going to ask what happened? You don’t care at all?”
“What should I ask? Are you going to be fine just because I ask?” Dexter replied, missing Ash more than ever. At least Ash had never caused them any trouble all these years.
Dexter looked down at Samantha, his patience wearing thin. “It’s just a little scratch. Stop acting like it’s the end of the world. Go wash up; you look like a mess.”
“Am I really that much of an eyesore to you?” Samantha shot back, feeling a chill in her heart. To Dexter, she wasn’t his daughter–just a tool.
Now that she wasn’t bringing any benefits, his true colors were showing. “Oh, and by the way, a friend of mine wanted to invest a million dollars a while ago. But I guess our family doesn’t need it anymore,” she added, deliberately trying to jab at
Dexter.
Sure enough, his expression shifted a bit, and his tone softened. “Samantha, I know you’ve been through a lot lately. But we’re family, and things are tough right now. Let’s work together. I’ll call a doctor to check your wound later. Just let us know next time something happens.”
Samantha Moreno’s eyes were filled with sarcasm. The speed at which his expression changed was terrifying.
Samantha couldn’t help but scoff at the speed of his change in attitude. She looked at her parents standing in front of her. “Thanks, but there’s really no need. This tiny cut isn’t going to kill me, right? Didn’t you just say so? Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to rest.
With that, she turned and headed upstairs, leaving her parents behind. Lorelei glanced at Dexter, feeling a nagging worry. “Honey, don’t you think something’s off with her?”
Dexter noticed, but he wasn’t in the mood for that. He waved her off. “Does it even matter right now? You always worry about this kind of thing all the time.”
Lorelei was caught off guard. She wanted to snap back, but Dexter was already turning away, leaving her feeling both frustrated and hurt.
Meanwhile, Calvert was dropping Ash off at home. “Thanks for today,” she said as she hopped out of the car, clearly not looking to invite him in. “Just head back and get some rest.”
Calvert stepped out and leaned against the car, one hand in his pocket. His sharp eyes narrowed slightly. “Are you really that scared I’ll come inside?”
Ash blinked, momentarily speechless. After a beat, she shot back, “So you actually want to come in?”
It was a standoff, both of them trying to find the right comeback. Just then, Brooke popped up like she had a sixth sense for timing.
“Calvert, is that you?” she chimed in, lightening the mood a bit. “What are you doing out here? Come on in and make yourself at home!”
Calvert flashed a smug grin, which was a little out of character for him. “Alright, guess I’ll have to bother you, Mrs. Turner.”
“Dear, you don’t have to be so formal. We’re family here, and I really appreciate you bringing Ash back today,” Brooke said, completely missing the eye–roll Ash shot her way.
