At Shadow Ventures, the Riverstone Commercial Area project was a big win. Things had been pretty hectic lately, but Ash finally felt a sense of relief now that she was running the game company that the Turner family had handed her,
“This project is all about keeping things open and transparent. We need to let the netizens weigh in and really listen to what they have to say,” Ash explained, keeping it short and sweet.
“Don’t forget, we relied on those netizens to pull us through last time, so we can’t just brush off their opinions now. We’re aiming to create the coolest local business district with the citizen. We need to break it up into sections based on type, and make sure there’s a good flow between them.”
As she spoke, Ash tapped her fingers on the table, making her points clear. “And I want three different ideas for the interface design. In the end, we’ll let the netizens vote on it. Of course, we’ll compensate them for their suggestions.”
Everyone nodded along, and Ash wrapped up the meeting with a grin. “Alright, meeting’s over! Also, since you’ve all been working so hard, I’ll treat everyone to some afternoon coffee. Plus, the team working on this project will get bonuses this month!”
Cheers erupted in the room. “Wow!”
“Ms. Turner, you rock! Love you!”
“Thanks, Ms. Turner!”
Ash walked out of the conference room with a small smile on her face. She glanced out the French windows; the sun was shining bright, and everything felt like it was finally falling into place.
William followed her out, looking sharp in his dark blue suit, which made him seem even more grown–up. “Hey, Ms. Turner, haven’t seen much of you around lately. Not involved in this project anymore?”
Ash kept walking but nodded. “I trust you to handle things at Shadow Ventures. I’ve got other stuff to take care of now. If anything comes up, just give me a shout.”
William fell silent, and Ash turned to him, a bit confused. “What’s up? You seem like you’ve got something on your mind. Spit it out.”
“Um, it’s just that… you seem different,” William hesitated, clearly choosing his words carefully
Ash raised an eyebrow, her confusion growing. “How exactly have I changed? Am I just getting even more stunning?”
William paused, almost tripping over his words, then nodded. “Yeah, you’ve definitely gotten prettier, but it’s more than that.”
“Just say it. When did you start hesitating like this?” Ash said, a bit amused, but still calm.
William dropped his gaze and thought for a moment. “Ms. Turner, you just seem… happier. You used to be all about work, never taking a break. Now, you’re more balanced.”
“That’s all?” she asked, raising an eyebrow.
He smiled softly, his eyes flickering. “Yeah, that’s it. Don’t worry, I’ll handle everything here. You can count on me.”
“Alright, your choice. Just don’t say I didn’t give you a chance to come clean later,” she replied with a shrug. Ash wasn’t buying it, but if he didn’t want to talk, she wouldn’t push.
She then headed straight to the Turner family’s gaming company. It was only a three–story building, not very big, but it had a modern, cutting–edge look–definitely gave off gaming vibes. :

Chapter 118
Lachlan had been waiting at the entrance for a while. When he spotted her, he waved. “Ash, over here!”
“Sorry for keeping you waiting. It’s been a crazy day. Is this messing with your schedule?” Ash asked, knowing this whole thing was a bit of a hand–off. Normally, she would dive in herself, but this time, she figured it wouldn’t hurt to take advantage of the help.
Lachlan, dressed casually in a white sweater and dark gray pants, smiled. His sleeves were rolled up, showing off his strong arms. He was hard to miss.
Like a gentleman, he held the door open for her. “No worries, I just got here too. The person in charge will give you the full rundown soon.”
“So, what are the most popular games here?” Ash asked as she walked into the lobby, glancing around and noticing the receptionist in a full–on business suit. For a second, she almost thought she had entered a real estate office.
Lachlan thought for a moment. “Well, it used to be this romance Otome game for girls. But that’s old news. Barely anyone plays it now.”
“That was the big hit? What happened after that? Why didn’t we keep it going? Are we focused on bigger games now?” Ash asked.
He shrugged. “Not really. Honestly, if it weren’t for the Turner Group backing them, this company would’ve closed a while ago.
However, challenges didn’t scare Ash. The fact that they’d had a hit before meant there was potential. She was confident she could revive things.
“Vanessa, this is Ash, my sister. She’s going to take over as the head of Funtime Games.” Lachlan gave Ash a light nudge on the shoulder as he introduced her.
Vanessa had that polished, professional vibe–smart, sharp, and clearly in charge. Ash smiled and offered her hand. “Hi, Ash Turner.
Vanessa gave her a quick look before shaking her hand. “I’m Vanessa Whitney, but just call me Vanessa. I’ll give you a tour in a bit.”
“Nice to meet you. First, I’d like to understand the team setup, what games are currently live, and what projects you’re planning,” Ash said directly, she wasn’t one for small talk.
After all, she was about to take full charge of this company, and she knew she had to step up and lead them all to something bigger and better.
Vanessa just nodded, not saying much, which actually made Ash feel more at ease.
Lachlan, though, still looked worried. “Ash, Vanessa’s really good at her job. She only just got transferred here because of some… things. She’s just a little standoffish.”
Ash waved it off with a grin. “No big deal. We’re here to work, not be best friends. As long as she gets the job done, I’m good.”
Even so, Lachlan couldn’t help but worry. “If you need anything, let me know. The gaming industry’s tough right now. It’s not an easy path.”
Ash smirked. “Kind of like when you didn’t think I could land the Riverstone Commercial deal?”
Lachlan raised an eyebrow, serious now. “Ash, I knew from the start Calvert wasn’t gonna win that. It was always Shadow Ventures’s to take.”
He softened a bit. “I know you’ll do great with the game company, too. I just don’t want you to burn out.”

Ash smiled wider, “Don’t worry. I’ll show you what I’m made of. You’ll see.”
