Ash lay in bed, thinking about what Brooke had said. She even wondered if she should marry Calvert and get divorced by using the excuse that they were incompatible.
Ash suddenly jolted upright. What am I thinking? How could I even consider such an absurd idea? She rolled over, wrapping herself tightly in the blanket.
Just then, her phone rang. She reached out a hand to grab it and answered, “What is it?”
“Ms. Turner, the Moreno family has been trying to reach you all day. What’s your opinion?” came the voice on the other end
“Tell him I have ten minutes at noon tomorrow, Ash said before hanging up.
The next day, Ash arrived at the agreed–upon location on time.

“Jewel, are you here just to mock me?” Dexter hadn’t expected to ever have to humble himself before her. “Don’t think I don’t know what you’ve been doing outside, using others‘ influence to laugh at me. Do you have any conscience left?”

As time ticked away, Dexter clenched his teeth and finally softened his stance. “Jewel, after all these years I’ve taken care of you, can’t you help me out just this once…”
“Your time is up.” Ash’s gaze was resolute. Ten minutes meant exactly ten minutes; she wouldn’t give a second more than promised. She got up to leave.

Ash laughed indifferently, “It seems like the ones being heartless are you guys. Besides, I gave you a chance; it’s your pride that wasted it. What does that have to do with me?”

“You again!” Tristan saw Calvert and the sense of humiliation he had felt last time surged up. He reached out to grab him, but before making contact, Calvert caught his wrist.
Calvert said, “Looks like the last lesson wasn’t enough.”
The intense pain caused Tristan’s face to contort instantly, his legs buckling under him. With a thud, he dropped to his knees. “Do you know who I am? I could make you disappear from Riverstone in three days.”
Calvert smirked disdainfully, remaining calm and collected. “Give you three years, and you still might not manage it.” With the sound of bones breaking. Tristan collapsed on the ground, clutching his wrist and rolling back and forth in agony.
Ash looked at Calvert, her lip twitching slightly as she muttered under her breath, “Always showing off.” Then, without even a glance at Tristan, she turned and left.
Calvert followed closely and pulled her into his car.
Ash glared at him. “Calvert, are you out of your mind?”
Calvert remained cool–headed. “What? My fiancée is cheating on me. I can’t just stand by and let this happen, can I?”
“Are you doing this on purpose?”
Calvert raised his eyebrows. “Did I say anything wrong?”
Ash was speechless, glaring at him angrily. “Why are you here flirting with me instead of being with your lover? It’s as if I stole you from your lover.

Once, she could make anyone cry with her words, but in front of Calvert, she found herself unable to speak.
Calvert looked at her. “Tomorrow, I’ll pick you up at the Turner family. Grandma wants to see you”
