Chapter 24
In the critical moment just before impact, Ash executed a perfect spin, narrowly dodging the oncoming truck.
Ever since her last accident, she had intensified her training to avoid traffic incidents, preventing history from repeating
itself.
Unexpectedly, a similar scenario was playing out once again shortly after.
Seeing her dodge in time, the truck driver slammed on the brakes. After careening into the adjacent green strip, the vehicle came to a stable stop.
Ash instantly stabilized herself, her icy gaze fixed on the truck, eyes filled with a chilling intensity.
If the truck truly lost control, it wouldn’t have stopped so steadily unless the driver’s charge was intentional.
Realizing he hadn’t hit anyone, the driver hastily reversed, intending to return to the road.
As Ash stood on the flowerbed, the driver quickly reversed, hoping to escape down the side street.
“Boom.”
Just then, the driver suddenly heard a loud noise, and the truck began to shake violently.
Standing on the flowerbed, Ash held a silver needle and deftly continued to throw it at the truck’s tires.
Soon, all the tires were flat, and the truck sagged, unable to move forward.
Ash approached the now completely stopped truck, yanked open the door, and her expression turned fierce.
The truck driver didn’t expect that such a seemingly frail young woman could exude such an imposing presence. Although he didn’t know why his tires had suddenly burst, judging by Ash’s actions, he suspected she was involved.
Under her terrifying pressure, the driver felt a cold shiver run down his spine.
Unable to consider the danger of continuing without tires, he could only muster the courage to step on the gas pedal, trying to fling Ash aside.
Ash narrowed her eyes, almost certain that the driver was indeed targeting her.
With a nimble movement, she quickly got into the truck, slipping into the passenger seat while directly clamping her hand around the driver’s neck and pressing hard.
The sensation of choking immediately spread from his neck. Feeling his life threatened, the driver urgently stepped on the brake, leaving the car stranded in the middle of the road.
“Why not run now?” Ash released her grip and sat in the passenger seat.
“Cough… cough…” The driver coughed violently, his eyes filled with terror as he looked at Ash beside him. He took this job just to earn some extra money, never intending to risk his own life.
‘She’s no ordinary woman‘ Once the pain in his neck subsided, the truck driver hurriedly apologized, “I didn’t mean to scare you; I’m sorry.”

“Scare me?”
Seeing the driver nodding. Ash nearly laughed in anger. Had it not been for her quick reflexes, someone else might have become a statistic under the wheels.
Her delicate fingers moved slightly, the silver needle in her hand occasionally reflecting light, her tone calm. “Shall we talk outside?”

Seeing, no reaction from the driver, Ash glanced at the surveillance camera near the road and dialed the emergency number.
“Hello, is this the police station?” Upon receiving a confirmation, she reported her current location.
Just as she hung up, the driver next to her suddenly changed his demeanor. The fear and apology vanished from his face as be pulled out a knife from beside his seat, pointing it at Ash.
“Cancel the call now, or I’ll end you here. The driver’s face twisted into a vicious snarl, his tone extremely hostile.
“Oh, I’m so scared.” Ash’s tone was slightly mocking, a sarcastic smile playing on her lips.
Seeing her like this, the truck driver became furious. “You bitch, you’re unlucky to have met me today. Time to send you on your way… Before he could finish, he raised the knife to strike Ash.
With her fingers moving swiftly, Ash launched the silver needle from her fingertip, accurately hitting several key points on the driver’s hand.
The driver’s hand instantly went numb, and the knife fell from his grasp. The sharp blade sliced through his thigh, bright red blood streaming down his pant leg as a severe pain contorted his face into a grimace and he cried out in agony.
“I thought I might spare you, but it seems you’re eager to rush to your death, Ash said lightly. “Tell me who sent you, and I might give you another chance”
There was no need for her to show mercy to such a desperate criminal, but she wanted to know who hated her so much that they wanted her dead. To her surprise, the truck driver glanced at the road ahead and slammed on the gas pedal.
The flat–tired truck careened forward uncontrollably toward Riverstone’s deepest lake.
The driver had made up his mind to go down with her.
‘He’s not some ordinary kidnapper; he’s a true assassin. Ash realized she had underestimated him.
As the sound of police sirens filled the air, Ash’s gaze turned fierce.
With swift precision, she disarmed and disabled the driver, severing both of his hands and one foot.
His expertise suggested this wasn’t his first time driving into murder; she would ensure he never harmed anyone again.
The truck completely lost control and plunged toward the lake by the roadside.
Ash pressed the button to roll down the window, only to find it useless.
The driver, in agony, bared his teeth at her. “You little beauty, dying alongside you on the road to hell is worth it.”
The truck tilted and crashed into the lake with a loud splash.
“Mr. Snider, that truck is going over; Ms. Turner is still inside…” Dean, who was driving Calvert home, reminded him uncertainly.

Calvert had noticed Ash since the truck appeared. He had intended to help, but then he saw her dodge just in time. Recalling how she had mocked him for trying to show off before, he decided to stay put.
What followed was completely unexpected for him.
Her agile movements, incredible speed, and the way she used silver needles to disable the tires left him stunned.
‘She couldn’t possibly be raised by the Moreno family! Who is she really?‘ For a moment, Calvert even wondered if Ash’s car accident in front of him had been planned in advance.
Seeing her subsequent actions and the lurching truck… all of it overturned his understanding of her.
‘With such skills, why would she choose to stay in the Turner family, and continue being my fiancée? What is her purpose?‘ These questions plunged Calvert into thought, his deep–set eyes fixed on the direction of the truck until Dean’s reminder snapped him back to reality.
By now, the front half of the truck was hanging in mid–air, yet Ash had not emerged from it.
Dean grew anxious. Though he couldn’t understand Calvert’s thoughts, he knew Ash was Dorothy’s approved granddaughter–in–law…
As the truck plunged over the guardrail, Dean’s face turned pale. “Mr. Snider, let me help Ms. Turner.” He stopped the car by the roadside, ready to get out.
Calvert raised his hand to stop him, his voice cold and clear inside the vehicle. “Stop there.”
