Dean stood frozen, eyes wide as he watched Calvert catapult out of the car ahead. ‘Am I seeing things?”
Calvert remained silent, shock flickering in his usually calm gaze. ‘How dare she?‘ If he hadn’t reacted so quickly, he might have ended up sitting in the middle of the street.
But before he could say anything, the car sped away, vanishing from sight. A vein throbbed on Calvert’s forehead as his emotions churned. The drugs in his system surged within him at that moment.
In response to Dean’s concerned and probing look, he clenched his fist and finally got into the car.
‘If I find out she has been lying to me, she’d pay dearly for it! A cold glint flashed in Calvert’s eyes.

At the Turner family, Ash returned home to find the house empty of servants, with only a security guard at the door. The vast villa was brightly lit but eerily quiet as if even a pin drop would echo.
Surprised, she greeted the guard gently, “Troy, what happened?”
Troy looked confused. “Miss, I don’t know the details. Please go in. Your parents are waiting for you.”
Ash frowned slightly; something was clearly off.
As soon as she stepped inside, she spotted Caspian, eyes red and filled with anger, glaring at her.
He shouted, “It’s all your fault. Are you satisfied now? Jade never intended to compete with you, but you pushed her to this point. You shouldn’t have come back.”
Ash was taken aback. ‘I just went out for a bit and didn’t do anything. What have I done to cause this?”
Faced with such harsh words right after coming home, she lost her patience. “If you can’t speak properly, then shut up. No one thinks you’re mute.”
“You’ve hurt Jade so badly, and you still have the nerve to come back?” Caspian glared at her, practically itching to hit her.
Ash almost laughed in disbelief. “What did I do to hurt her?”
“If you hadn’t tried to steal Calvert from her, she wouldn’t have made such a reckless mistake.” Caspian shot back, frustration was evident on his face. “Since you came back, you’ve been squeezing her out, even flaunting your relationship with Calvert to provoke her. She’s already been so submissive; what more do you want?”
Ash paused, realizing the implication. ‘So, the drugs affecting Calvert were her doing? Who would’ve thought this innocent- looking girl had such guts? But… why was it my problem?‘
“That’s a heavy burden; I can’t carry it.” Ash turned away, heading for her room. ‘Is he really my brother? He seems a bit slow on the uptake. He is acting just like Jade’s devoted older brother.’
“Shameless brat!” A stern voice cut through the tension. Franklin leaned on his cane. “What nonsense are you spouting? Ash is your real sister.” With that, he struck Caspian with his cane,
Caspian clutched his leg in pain, nearly jumping. “I’m still your grandson. Why are you hitting me for an outsider?”
“Caspian, you’ve gone too far.” Lachlan emerged from somewhere, disapproving.

Franklin frowned at Caspian, explaining seriously. “Calvert has always been Ash’s fiancé. Even if she hadn’t returned, it’s not Jade’s place to take that position. This engagement is based on bloodline.
Caspian stood frozen. Ever since Jade came to their family, he had treated her as his sister, almost forgetting about blood ties.
Seeing Calvert and Jade get along, he accepted Calvert as Jade’s partner, nearly forgetting that the original engagement was between Ash and Calvert.
Caspian’s energy deflated. He had no grounds to defend Jade anymore.
“This time, Jade messed up. It has nothing to do with Ash. Wake up!” Lachlan stood by, looking mature and composed
Hearing someone finally speak sense, Ash stopped at the door and turned around.
“Ash, don’t listen to this brat. You are my real granddaughter.” Franklin looked at her with concern. Tm sorry, it’s my fault that you’ve been wronged.”
Seeing the usually stern Franklin look so pained, Ash’s tone softened. “Grandpa, I’m fine.”
She glanced around and asked the most pressing question, “Where’s Mom?”
With all this chaos, everyone in the Turner family was there except for her parents.
Thinking of Brooke’s serious heart condition, Ash’s expression tightened. “Is she okay?”
Lachlan looked surprised. He hadn’t expected Ash, despite her grievances, to be worried about their sick mother first. “Don’t worry. She’s fine. She went to find a doctor for Jade,” he reassured her.
Upon hearing this, Ash finally relaxed.
Family problems should stay within the family, and finding a skilled, discreet doctor wasn’t easy.
But just then, a loud crash echoed from Jade’s room, followed by some unmentionable sounds.
With the servants sent home and Brooke still out, Ash was the only woman among the men.
Caspian tensed, turning to rush toward Jade’s room. “Something must have happened to Jade. I’m going to check.” Franklin slammed his cane on the floor, his voice heavy with authority. “You dare!”
“But Jade…” Caspian was fraught with worry.
Lachlan listened to the sounds from upstairs, his expression troubled. They were all adults and knew exactly what kind of trouble Jade was in.
In this situation, Lachlan knew it wouldn’t be appropriate for any of them to go; only Ash could, but he couldn’t bring himself to say it.
Ash frowned, listening to the crashing noise above. The drugs Jade had taken seemed far more serious than what Calvert had experienced.
But she was puzzled. ‘Since they are both unmarried, why didn’t they just sleep together to resolve the issue? Why complicate things?‘
Franklin snorted, turning to the Turner brothers. “She made her own mess; she can deal with it. I’ll be watching here today,

and none of you are allowed to go.”
Caspian was anxious, hearing the sounds from Jade’s room, but with Franklin’s orders, he didn’t dare argue.
At that moment, Ash stepped forward, her tone calm. “I’ll go check.”
Franklin paused. “You don’t have to put yourself in a difficult position…”
“I’m worried she might tear our family apart,” Ash replied, walking upstairs.
Seeing this, Franklin fell silent, a thoughtful look in his eyes.
Ash opened Jade’s door and was taken aback by the scene inside.
