Ash glanced at the screen, a crack forming in her expression. ‘How can I forget to log in with a different account? More trouble is brewing!
Fortunately, after she placed her bid, no one else followed suit. Aminute later, she successfully bought the ginseng
Then she quickly logged out. But the chatter about her on the site didn’t stop.
A newcomer asked, [Who is Y?]
[You don’t know? That’s embarrassing. Y is a legend in the hacking world. No firewall can stop him.]
[Exactly! I tried multiple times with my buddies, and we couldn’t even break through his outer defenses.] A well–known hacker from Marizieu chimed in, [I declare Y will always be my idol.]
Meanwhile, the subject of their discussion had already shut her laptop and moved on to other things.

At the Snider family estate, in Calvert’s study, Calvert received a call. “Mr. Snider, that ginseng has been purchased
“Do we know who bought it?” asked Calvert.
“Not Prunella,” the voice on the other end replied, sounding disappointed. “It was the infamous hacker–Y.”
Calvert frowned, his handsome face showing signs of deep thought. He had discovered that wild ginseng during a mission in a remote area a few years ago.
He intended to gift it to Dorothy, but her health was too fragile for such a potent remedy.
He planned to find Prunella to treat Dorothy, using the ginseng as bait. But he never expected Y to swoop in and buy it at a low price.
What will a hacker want with medicinal herbs?‘ thought he.
Noticing Calvert’s silence, the caller asked, “Should we still ship the ginseng? Or pretend it got lost?”
Calvert’s tone turned icy. “Once a deal is made, we follow the rules of integrity. Don’t ever suggest such things again.”
“Understood, sir,” the voice on the other end replied respectfully.
After a moment, Calvert said, “Find out which country Y is from
Just then, a knock came at the study door.
Dorothy walked in, followed by a servant carrying medicinal dishes.
Calvert frowned. “I don’t need that.”
Dorothy’s expression instantly turned cold. “You stubborn boy, are you ignoring me? Think you’re too grown up now?”
Calvert hesitated but eventually took the dishes. Seeing Dorothy’s face light up made him suspicious. “Did you poison this?”
“I’m
your Grandma. Why would I harm you?”
“Who knows? I almost thought the Turner family girl was your real granddaughter.” Calvert glanced at the dishes, stirring

the contents with a silver spoon, his movements elegant yet detached.
“From my experience, Ash is a good girl. Don’t worry. I know the Turner family well enough. They won’t let you down Dorothy’s voice was earnest. “I’m doing this for your own good.
“The Turner family is decent, but Ash… you can’t judge a book by its cover. Calvert looked at the dishes but couldn’t help smirking.
Ash was quite the charmer; in just a few days, she had Dorothy wrapped around her finger.
Hearing Calvert’s assessment, Dorothy frowned. ‘Weren’t they pretending to date recently? Why did he suddenly dislike her?‘
“Is there a misunderstanding between you two?” Dorothy asked seriously. “Trust me, even though you haven’t known her long, I can tell she’s your kind of person. You’ll have common ground.”
‘Her?‘ A flicker of distaste crossed Calvert’s eyes. He didn’t think he could relate to a woman who traded her body for money. Seeing Dorothy’s insistence, he took a sip of the medicinal dish and set it aside. “I’ll handle it.”
From his words, Dorothy understood that he wasn’t taking her advice to heart.
Noticing he had no appetite, she stopped pushing. “These dishes are good for your recovery. You were seriously injured, and I can’t help but worry. But if you really don’t want to eat, then forget it.”
A hint of sadness crossed her face. “You know, in this family, you’re the one I worry about the most. According to the doctor, I might only have two years left…”
Before she could finish, Calvert interrupted, “Don’t say that. I’m looking for Prunella. If we find him, he’ll definitely be able to help you.”
“Life and death are natural parts of living. I’m not hung up on how many years I have left,” Dorothy said, taking Calvert’s hand. “What I really hope for is that you find your own happiness.”
‘Back to that topic again!‘ Calvert lowered his gaze, his expression unreadable.
He had consulted several renowned doctors about Dorothy’s condition, and they all gave the same grim diagnosis. He knew that even if he found Prunella, it wouldn’t guarantee Dorothy a long life, but he couldn’t bring himself to give up hope.
After a long silence, he finally said, “Don’t worry. I’ll get along with her.”
At least while Dorothy was still alive, even if it was just for show, he would play the part well.
Hearing his satisfactory answer, Dorothy’s frown disappeared, and she beamed. “I knew you’d always be my good grandson.”
Calvert was at a loss for words.
At the Turner family, Brooke was chatting with Josh. “I went shopping with my friend today, and she didn’t even know what Ash looked like.”
“That’s our oversight. At the last family gathering, Ash didn’t get chance to show up before she… left,” Josh almost slipped up but quickly changed the subject. “Should we hold another gathering?”
“Once was enough. Too many would just make us a laughingstock. Brooke disagreed. “I think it’d be better for Ash to join the company and spend more time with her brother. It’ll keep her safe and help her get known.”

“But what about Jade?” Josh was concerned.

“Jade’s entertainment career has nothing to do with the company Don’t worry about her feelings.” Just thinking about how their adopted daughter was trying to steal Ash’s fiancé with underhanded tactics made Brooke’s expression sour.
Josh sighed, looking at Brooke’s pale face. Finally, he agreed, “Alright, I’ll talk to Ash about it tomorrow.”
