Chapter 45
Vania looked up. “What do you mean by that?”
“What else could I mean?” Samantha responded with a mocking one, giving Vania a once–over. “You seem to come from money. I can’t believe you’d admire a woman who sells herself. Or are you just like her?”
She smirked and added, “I never would have guessed.”
Samantha’s harsh words made Vania’s face pale. As the spoiled princess of the Snider family, she had never been insulted openly like that.
“Don’t make baseless accusations. Do you have any proof she’s involved with someone like that?” Vania couldn’t stand Samantha’s slander.
“You probably don’t know about my history with her. Well, listen Samantha said, her voice dripping with condescension. “When I was kidnapped, she swooped in and took my place. And after I returned, she schemed to push me into the water. And this is the kind of woman you’re praising, huh? I can’t stand to watch.”
Seeing Vania’s growing discomfort, Jade subtly curved her lips. This was exactly the reaction she’d hoped for.

“As for proof, that man you saw her with earlier is my boyfriend. She’s been trying to seduce him, making him obsess over her, while playing mistress to some rich guy. Just last week, she got 700 thousand dollars from her sugar daddy to give to her parents,” Samantha continued.
Her story sounded so convincing, and she fully believed it, unaware of Jewel’s true situation.
Vania’s expression darkened further. ‘A woman like that should have no business with someone as outstanding as Calvert!‘ she thought.
“I have to go now.” Vania turned away, visibly upset.
“Weren’t you going to watch the auction?” Jade asked with a smile.
“Not anymore. I’m furious! How could Grandma consider such a woman for Calvert’s fiancée? I need to have a serious talk with her.” Vania stormed off, fuming.
Jade watched, satisfied with how things had unfolded. She had only intended for Samantha to introduce Ash, but the results were even better than expected.
“Ms. Turner, everything I said was true. You won’t hold it against me, right?” Samantha asked, a bit uncertain, trying to stay on Jade’s good side. “If I said anything wrong, should I go and clear things up with her?”
“No need. You told the truth, and that’s all that matters,” Jade replied in a gentle tone, feeling glad she’d decided to keep Samantha close.
“By the way, about your friend that you mentioned introducing me to…” Samantha hesitated.
“Don’t worry. I know a very wealthy man who’s looking for a partner. If your boyfriend isn’t treating you well, you can break up with him and date my friend instead.” Jade quickly sent the man’s WhatsApp contact. “I’ve just sent it to you.”
Samantha checked her phone and saw the name Shelton. Her eyes lit up. “Is he from the Shelton family? One of the four major families?”

“Yes.” Jade nodded. “I’ve made the introduction. Now it’s up to you to make it work.” With that, Jade turned and walked away.
Behind her, Samantha stared at the WhatsApp contact with excitement, eagerly adding him as a friend.
“Samantha, what are you looking at?” Just then, Tristan appeared beside her, his demeanor completely changed from earlier
no longer clingy but composed and polished.
Remembering what he had said before, Samantha was furious. Her expression darkened, and she snapped, “What do you want now?”
Tristan was taken aback for a moment. He had always thought of Samantha as gentle and easygoing, especially in bed – so different from the distant and reserved Jewél.
When he got back together with Samantha, he had intended to use her to get close to Jewel, but he also missed how compliant she was in bed. Still, now that he could no longer rely on Samantha to approach Jewel, he wondered if she was worth keeping around anymore.
As this thought crossed his mind, Tristan’s smile slowly faded. Without another word, he turned and walked away.
Meanwhile, Ash strolled casually down the street, carrying a bag from the gem store.
“Hey, Ash! You’re here as well!” Baz, his bright yellow hair standing out, greeted her casually as he approached with a group of friends. “Let me introduce everyone. This is Ash. She’s my boss.”
“Hi, Ash,” the group chimed in together.
Suddenly, all eyes around turned toward them. Ash’s mouth twitched slightly at the attention. Baz certainly had a unique way of greeting people.
Sensing her discomfort, Baz waved to his friends. “I need to talk to Ash. You guys go on ahead.”
Once they left, Ash asked, “Are you here for the auction?”
“No, just killing time wandering around.” Baz’s eyes lit up. “Are you here alone? I can keep you company. I know the area well. I’ll show you around.”
Without waiting for her response, Baz casually slung his arm over Ash’s shoulders as he did with his buddies earlier.
“She’s not alone.” A cold voice interrupted them.
Ash turned to see Calvert, his face as handsome as ever but hard as stone.
“Well, the three of us can hang out together. I don’t mind. What about you, Ash?” Baz asked, still grinning.
Calvert’s gaze locked onto Ash, though his eyes were fixed icily on Baz’s arm around her.
“I’m fine either way,” Ash said, completely unaware of the tension She wasn’t familiar with the area, so she didn’t mind having extra company.
“Are you sure?” Calvert’s voice grew colder, his face darkening. “Flirting with another man right in front of me, huh? What do you take me for?”
Ash blinked, confused. “Me? Flirting?”
Baz seemed to be enjoying the situation. “Hey, I’m just a friend. Don’t get the wrong idea.”

Calvert’s tone dripped with sarcasm. “I wasn’t aware she had friends like you.”
Without warning, Calvert yanked Baz’s arm off Ash and grabbed her hand instead. “Come with me.”
As Baz stood there with an amused smirk, Ash was pulled away by Calvert, still looking bewildered.

In the distance, Jade witnessed the scene and went pale. ‘What’s going on?‘ she thought, her mind racing. ‘Doesn’t Calvert hate liars? And he’s a germophobe -he barely touches women. Why is he grabbing that bitch’s hand after seeing her with another guy? Has he fallen for her?”
Jade’s eyes narrowed with determination. She couldn’t let Ash take everything from her.
“What are you doing?” Ash tried to free her hand from Calvert’s grip, but his hold was firm, like iron.
“Ms. Turner,” Calvert said icily, “if I remember correctly, you promised to behave yourself this year.”
Calvert’s expression darkened even more as he thought about the head of Shadow Ventures earlier and now this random blond guy. His grip tightened unconsciously. “Just how many men do you have out there?”
