Chapter 55
Samantha and Lorelei were stunned, their faces showing disbelief.
After a long silence, Samantha broke the tense atmosphere. “No way. There’s absolutely no way I’m apologizing to her. If you want to do it, go ahead yourself.”
“The company is on the brink of collapse, and you’re still being so arrogant. You’re acting so irresponsibly!” Dexter scolded sternly, his eyes filled with disappointment.
He had his suspicions before, like the one million dollars Jewel gave to the Moreno family, the incident where they were kicked out of the Turner family’s banquet while Jewel was welcomed in, and the golden invitation Samantha mentioned just now. Everything pointed to one thing, which was Jewel wasn’t as powerless as they had thought.
Now, Dexter was almost certain. Shadow Ventures pulling out and other companies cutting ties with the Moreno family had everything to do with Jewel.
But Samantha didn’t believe any of it. “Dad, you’re just not managing the company well. How is that my fault? I won’t apologize.”
“You… you ungrateful daughter!” Dexter was furious, glaring at her. For a moment, he found himself missing Ash, who respected him and was well–mannered.
Lorelei stood up as well. “Samantha, that’s too much! If it weren’t for your father, we won’t be living this luxurious life. Apologize to him immediately.”
Lorelei shot Samantha a meaningful look.
Seeing Dexter’s enraged expression, Samantha finally gave in. “Dad, I’m sorry, I was just too angry. But seriously, isn’t Jewel just being kept by some rich man? What kind of background is that?”
Dexter was completely disheartened. He sighed. “In business, you have to understand there’s always someone better and richer. Our family may be decent, but in Riverstone, where wealthy families are everywhere, we barely rank as third–rate.”
“If you offend someone like the four major families, we wouldn’t even know what trouble we have brought us,” he said gravely. Then he turned to Lorelei, his face darkening. “If she refuses to apologize, that’s fine. We’ll pack up and head back to the countryside.”
Lorelei was stunned by this, her voice trembling slightly. “What do you mean?”
“Without Shadow Ventures‘ support, the company will go bankrupt.” He closed his eyes. “So, it’s either apologize or return to the countryside. You choose.”
Samantha and Lorelei exchanged uneasy glances, neither of them looking happy.
Suddenly, Lorelei seemed to remember something. “Samantha, aren’t you back together with Tristan? Did he say anything about the company?”
“Mom, he’s totally dependent on his parents. He can’t help. He’s even gone back to that tramp, saying he needs to use her to reach out to Shadow Ventures,” Samantha said.
Hearing this, Dexter was sure of it now. Everything happening to the company was because of Ash.
Seeing her parents‘ grim expressions, Samantha bit her lip in frustration before finally saying slowly, “I have a friend who’s connected to the Turner family. I’ll ask her if she can help. If all else fails, I’ll apologize for the sake of our family.”
Hearing this, Lorelei and Dexter looked better,

She quickly stood up, applied a bit of makeup, changed her clothes, and rushed out the door.

Ash narrowed her eyes slightly, recalling the strange attitude the Snider family had shown her recently. She thought, ‘Could their goodwill have something to do with Jade
Ash didn’t trust a woman ruthless enough to turn on even herself. After a brief moment of thought, she made a phone call. “Send someone to follow Jade. I want to know where she’s going.”
“Yes, ma’am,” came the respectful voice from the other end.
Jade drove to the Snider family, and not long after, Vania came out.
“Jade, there you are.” Vania rushed into Jade’s arms like she had found her only source of comfort.
Without revealing her true thoughts, Jade took a step forward and said in a gentle, concerned tone, “Tell me what’s bothering you, sweetie. I’ll be here for you.”
Once they were in the car, Vania’s emotions gradually calmed. She spoke in a listless tone. “Jade, I don’t know what kind of spell Ash cast on my family. Not only is Grandma biased toward her, but even my brother is standing up for her. He even yelled at me because of her
“Ever since she returned to the Turner family, even my parents have started to dislike me.” Jade showed a sympathetic expression. “That woman is incredibly cunning. She’s not someone you can easily deal with. You should be careful.”
“I understand.” Vania said, her mood still low. “I don’t know why my Grandma is so determined to have Calvert engaged to Ash. It’s driving me crazy. How could his fiancée be someone who’s low?”
Jade raised her eyebrows. “Did you tell your family about her being kept by someone?”
“I was just about to, but Grandma scolded me before I could even finish. Calvert didn’t let me continue either,” Vania said.
Jade asked, “Did you say it in front of your Grandma?”
“Yeah, but neither of them let me finish, and Ash was just sitting there, enjoying the show.”
Jade thought for a moment before speaking slowly. “I see. Calvert is smart. He must’ve found out the truth, but he’s keeping quiet because your grandma’s health is fragile. He probably doesn’t want to upset her, which is why he had to scold you. I’m sure he didn’t mean to yell at you.”
The Snider family cared deeply about their reputation. There was no way they’d tolerate this. It was the only explanation that made sense.
Vania suddenly realized. “That woman is so manipulative, using Grandma to control Calvert. This isn’t fair to him at all
Jade glanced at the angry Vania and decided to play along. “Don’t worry. I’ll always be on your side. If she ever bullies you after marrying Calvert, you can come to me anytime.”
‘Marry Calvert? Not a chance, Vania thought.
Vania’s face hardened with determination. “You want to marry Calvert? Over my dead body! I won’t let her succeed.”
Hearing this, Jade smirked slightly. Coming here was worth it after all.
Meanwhile, Ash received a message: [Boss, Jade went to see Vania.]
Attached to the message was a photo of the two women embracing, looking very close,
