Chapter 56
The next morning. As soon as Samantha woke up, she anxiously opened WhatsApp and sent a message to Jade: [Ms. Turner, do you know who is backing Jewel?]
Jade looked at the message, surprised. ‘Does Samantha not realize that Jewel is part of the Turner family?‘ she thought.
Recalling how Vania was stopped from revealing the truth, Jade carefully replied: [After you told me she was being kept by someone, I did some digging. Her patron is from Shadow Ventures.]
When there was no immediate reply, Jade smirked. If Vania couldn’t expose Ash’s true face, she’d find someone else to do it. Jade was determined to make sure Jewel would no longer dare to stay within the Turner family.
As she walked out of her room, Jade bumped into Ash. Noticing a servant nearby, Jade greeted Ash warmly. “Good morning.”
Ash gave her a brief glance but said nothing.
In the living room, Lachlan and Caspian wore heavy expressions.
As the two ladies descended the stairs, Caspian was the first to speak. “Yesterday at the auction, a nourishing pill from the renowned healer Prunella appeared. Did you both see it?”
“I saw it,” Ash said.
“Do you not know how crucial that pill is for Mom’s health? If you saw it, why didn’t you bid for it?” Caspian questioned.
Ash frowned slightly, her gaze cold as if staring at an unreasonable fool.
“What’s with that look?” Caspian snapped, displeased.
“Caspian, don’t get upset. I saw the nourishing pill too, but before that, I had already bought a gift for Mom. I didn’t have enough money left. I really tried my best, but 25 million dollars was all I had. I couldn’t offer more,” Jade explained, lowering her head in guilt. “It’s all my fault for not being able to help Mom.”
At Prime Oasis, there was no such thing as paying on credit. If she didn’t bring enough money, she would be blacklisted unless someone delivered the funds within half an hour of the auction’s end.
Jade knew this well and had intentionally held back, not wanting to spend all of her assets, especially since she had already spent 15 million dollars on an ancient painting.
“This isn’t your fault. You did your best.” Caspian comforted her, but then his gaze turned to Ash. “What about you? What’s your excuse?”
Everyone knew that before Ash left, their parents had given her 60 million dollars. The nourishing pill sold for only 30 million dollars. She could easily have bought it.
Seeing Ash remain silent, Caspian raised his voice. “You only needed to spend half of the allowance our parents gave you to ease Mom’s pain, and you’d still have 30 million dollars left. Yet you refused.”
Before Ash could respond, Jade interjected, “Caspian, don’t blame her. Ash has been through a lot, and it’s understandable she hesitated after finally having some money.”
Ash shot Jade a cold glance. This pretender was seemingly defending her, but in reality, she was painting Ash as ungrateful. After all, Aash had taken the family’s money yet was unwilling to spend even half to buy medicine for Brooke.
Predictably, Caspian grew angrier. “Mom and Dad treat you so well, and this is how you repay them?”
Even Lachlan, standing nearby, showed some disapproval in his gaze, though his usual calm demeanor kept him from

speaking up.
“Idiot,” Ash muttered in annoyance before calmly walking to the dining table and starting to cat breakfast, completely ignoring Caspian’s outburst.
Enraged at being both insulted and ignored, Caspian shouted, “You don’t deserve to be one of us, you heartless thing!”
“Caspian, shut your mouth!” Josh’s stern voice interrupted as he descended the stairs, followed by Brooke.
“How could you say such a thing to Ash?” Brooke’s normally gentle face was now filled with anger. “If you speak like that again, you can get out.”

With his parents scolding him, Caspian grew even more agitated. He pointed at Ash, his voice full of resentment. “She had the money but wouldn’t buy the medicine for Mom.”
“Who said I wouldn’t?” Ash’s eyes fixed firmly on him, her voice calm but direct.
“You’re still denying it! That was Prunella’s medicine, rare and precious! If I had been there, I would’ve secured it for Mom!” Caspian said.
Lachlan stepped in to mediate. “It’s my fault. I didn’t get to the auction in time.”
By the time he arrived, the nourishing pill had already been sold.
“Enough.” Brooke said, exasperated, her voice softening. “It’s just a pill. Stop blaming each other. I know my own health. This has nothing to do with Ash, so leave her out of it.”
She directed her last words at Caspian.
Though Josh also felt regret, there was nothing he could do now to retrieve the pill.
*If you want to make your mother happy, behave well. That will do more than any medicine,” Josh said in an even tone before turning to the butler. “Keep an eye on auction houses. If anything similar comes up, have someone buy it immediately.”
“Yes, sir,” the butler replied dutifully, preparing to leave when Ash stopped him.
“No need,” she said.
Reaching into her pocket, Ash pulled out a small silver bottle. “I have a two–month supply here. If it’s not enough, let me
know.”
“Are you joking? That’s Prunella’s medicine! Not just any random stuff can replace it,” Caspian snapped, unable to contain himself.
“Shut up.” Ash’s eyes turned cold, and with a swift motion, she pressed a pressure point on his body, silencing him instantly.
The move was so quick that no one else even had time to react before Caspian found himself unable to speak.
“How could you do that to Caspian? What did you just do?” Jade demanded loudly.
Ash’s gaze was icy. “Keep talking, and you’ll be next.”
Under her sharp stare, Jade froze, immediately falling silent.
Seeing this, Brooke looked at Ash with worry. “Ash…”
Ash’s tone softened instantly. “Don’t worry, I just stopped him from making noise. He’ll be fine in two hours.”

She then held up the silver bottle and explained seriously to Brooke, “This is Prunella’s nourishing pill. For the first three days, take one pill a day. After that, switch to one pill every five days. It will help alleviate chest pain and nightmares.”
Josh strode over, barely containing his joy. “Is this for real? Wonderful! Ash, you’re amazing!”
Brooke, too, looked at Ash with pride, taking the bottle from her. “I never imagined you would be so capable, not only skilled in medicine but able to find such a miraculous cure.”
Beside them, Jade bit her lip, stepping forward reluctantly. “Ash, Prunella travels the world and is hard to track. How did you manage to find so much of her medicine? Shouldn’t we double–check it to make sure it’s safe for Mom?”
