Chapter 60
Calvert’s eyes narrowed suddenly. He thought, ‘Does this mean that I had some connection with the woman five years ago when Jade found me?‘
“The intelligence department says these two silver needles are likely part of Prunella’s set. If we can find the owner of these needles, we might be able to track down Prunella,” Shane reported, revealing all the information he had gathered.
As for other issues, they had already been documented on the computer.
“Mr. Snider, whose are these new silver needles?” Shane asked. Horton asked.
“They belong to Ash, the newly re–discovered young lady of the Turner family.” Calvert’s cold voice held a hint of suspicion.
Calvert thought, ‘I crossed paths with her five years ago, yet I have no recollection of it. Now, she happened to collapse in front of my car and became my fiancée. Is this just a coincidence, or was it all premeditated?‘
Things were getting more and more interesting.
“In that case, you can ask her directly to find Prunella,” Shane suggested, pleased to discover that Ash had such capabilities.
However, seeing Calvert’s still icy expression, Shane closed his mouth and thought, ‘Did I say something wrong?‘
“She is unwilling to disclose any information about Prunella,” Calvert replied flatly. “Continue your investigation into the events from five years ago to see if there’s a connection between the people who tried to kill me and her.”
If everything was indeed part of Ash’s scheme, he had to admit she was exceptionally convincing.
Shane’s expression grew serious, his tone weighted with concern. “Mr. Snider, are you suggesting that your fiancée might have been the one who tried to harm you five years ago?”
“Aside from these two identical silver needles, there’s no other evidence,” Calvert said, his face darkening. This new revelation soured his mood.
If Ash was indeed the one who plotted against him, then her scheme exceeded his imagination.
When he heard this, Shane’s impression of Ash also deteriorated. Calvert was not one to wrongfully accuse others, but with the current evidence, Shane couldn’t easily trust Ash.
At that moment, the door to the private room slowly opened, and Ash stepped out in a stunning red mermaid gown.
Her chestnut curls cascaded elegantly down her back, and the braided portion was adorned with white luminous pearls. Her naturally beautiful face, enhanced with subtle makeup, appeared even more radiant and enchanting.
The pearl softened Ash’s sharp aura, making her both alluring and approachable, while adding a touch of elegance and purity. The red gown contrasted beautifully with her fair skin, creating a dazzling, breathtaking effect that made others unable to look away.
Calvert turned to look at her, and a flicker of surprise crossed his calm eyes. Accustomed to her bare–faced appearance, he found himself deeply captivated by her beauty.
Madeline followed her out and noticed Calvert’s gaze lingering on Ash. She smirked, deciding to give the stylist a bonus for today’s look.
Shane felt a surge of wariness. Calvert had seen many beautiful women, but it was the first time he had seen Calvert stare at one for so long, especially a woman with potential suspicions.
‘Has he been waiting for me outside?‘ Ash spotted Calvert sitting by the window and gracefully walked over.

“You look beautiful,” Calvert complimented sincerely, his mood unaffected by Shane’s earlier remarks.
It had to be said that her beauty was extraordinary, unlike any other woman he had encountered.
Ash smiled, her mood elevated. “Thank you for the compliment.”
Everyone loved to be praised, especially by someone as strikingly handsome as Calvert, and it was rare for him to be so complimentary.
“Madeline, could you help me see if this outfit matches his?” Ash asked, looking up at the tailored black suit he wore.

“Stand together, and I’ll take a photo to compare,” Madeline suggested, pulling out her phone. She clicked the shutter as the two posed perfectly together.
“You’re a perfect match!” Madeline found it hard to look away. Ash, in her striking red gown, and Calvert, in his sharp black suit, looked like a stunning pair from a timeless masterpiece.
Both the outfits and the people were a delight to behold.
Ash said lightly, “Then you should just keep this outfit on. No need to change.”
Since she needed to put on a show to convince his family, she would go all out.
Madeline was thrilled, certain that Ash would be the center of attention at tonight’s party.
Having completed her task, Madeline discreetly found an excuse to leave, taking Shane with her.
Now, only Ash and Calvert remained in the car.
At that moment, Dorothy called to urge Calvert to hurry. Not wanting to retake photos, he simply asked Madeline to send the pictures she had just taken.
After Dorothy received the photos, there was no immediate response from her.
Seeing this, Ash thought, ‘Should I send my mother a picture too? If she saw us together, she would surely be delighted.‘
But thinking about going home later, Ash decided against it and sat quietly in the car.
Wearing her gown, she could no longer lean back as before, so she sat upright, her long, pale neck gracefully extended.
Calvert couldn’t imagine that Ash could be the kind of woman who would compromise herself for money.
He thought, ‘Could there be some misunderstanding?”
He lowered his gaze, choosing not to think further.
In the sprawling villa halfway up the mountain, luxury cars arrived one after another.
Brooke and Josh stood at the entrance, beaming as they welcomed the guests to the banquet.
Since this was a private dinner hosted at home, the guest list was limited, the guest list was kept small, mostly consisting of close business partners and personal friends. Brooke and Josh also hoped to introduce their daughter to these individuals.
As the time for the party approached, the main attraction had yet to appear. Brooke and Josh exchanged glances and
decided to wait at the door.

Josh’s excitement was palpable. The sight of the two together reminded him of when he and Brooke had gotten engaged in their youth. Even the color scheme of their outfits was similar.
“Ladies and gentlemen, this is my daughter and her fiancé!” Josh excitedly introduced, glancing at Brooke with misty eyes.

The guests seated in the living room turned in unison, their expressions filled with astonishment. Calvert’s and Ash’s beauty exceeded their wildest expectations.
The stage lights fell upon them just in time as Calvert wrapped his arm around Ash, and they elegantly walked forward together.
Gasps of admiration echoed throughout the hall.
