Watching Calvert walk away briskly, Ash felt for the first time that being with him didn’t seem so difficult to accept.
Just then, Madeline approached. “What are you smiling about? You look so happy.”
She leaned in to glance at the empty space ahead.
Ash touched the corner of his lips. “Am I smiling?”
“Yes.” Madeline teased, noticing the radiant smile on her best friend’s face. “It’s like that smile someone has when they see their crush. Have you spotted someone you like?”
Ash thought about the man from earlier and thought, ‘Do I like him? Nonsense.
“No, I just think the moonlight is beautiful tonight. Look at the bright moon and the blooming roses,” Ash said.
Before she could finish, Madeline interrupted her. “Stop. I’m not discussing this anymore. I’m heading home.”
“Take care, I won’t see you off,” a clear voice chimed in.
Madeline was speechless.
Back in the living room, Ash noticed her family sitting neatly on the couch, waiting for her.
“Ash, I’m so proud of you. You’re so amazing.” Brooke was the first to speak, her eyes sparkling with barely concealed joy.
Josh chimed in, “After your performance tonight, things should go a lot smoother when you enter the company.”
“What?” Jade couldn’t help but interject, unable to suppress her surprise.

Seeing the surprised looks from everyone, she quickly adjusted her expression and softened her tone. “Is Ash really going to the company? I’m just a bit worried that she won’t adapt to the environment there.”
Josh looked away and explained, “I plan to have Ash shadow Lachlan at the company to get familiar with things before she gradually joins in.”
The Turner family didn’t tolerate idleness. Each child was meticulously cultivated and excelled in various fields.
For instance, Lachlan primarily handled company affairs, Caspian was a pilot currently on vacation, Jackson was a senior researcher at a national key laboratory, and Jade, having just graduated, was preparing to enter the entertainment industry, where she had already landed some small roles.
Now, Ash was the only one who hadn’t done anything yet.
“Ash, what do you think?” Brooke agreed with the plan, knowing that no matter what happened at her own company, she could protect Ash and provide her with valuable experience.
Jade hung her head, feeling increasingly frustrated and regretting her choice to enter showbiz. Although her family could offer her some resources, they couldn’t guarantee that her projects would be successful.
If she couldn’t make a name for herself in the entertainment industry, Jade feared she would end with nothing.

Ash considered the situation carefully. She already owned several companies and didn’t need to start working for another
one.
Noticing Ash’s silence, Brooke assumed she was reluctant to go and quickly added, “Don’t worry. If you don’t want to go to the company, just tell me. I’ll transfer all my shares to you. You’ll never have to worry about food or clothing for the rest of your life.”
Ash would always have her back.
“Thanks, Mom.” Ash felt a wave of gratitude.
Since her parents hoped she would join the company, Ash decided to go, though she wasn’t used to working under someone
else.
“Are there any less significant small companies? I’d like to practice a bit,” Ash said casually.
“You want to go solo?” Josh’s eyes lit up when he saw her nod. He hadn’t expected Ash to have such ambition. “Of course, there are. What kind are you interested in?”
“Anything works. I’m not picky,” Ash said.
Josh thought it over. Since Ash had aspirations, he naturally wanted to support her. However, he didn’t expect her to accomplish anything significant. She probably wouldn’t be able to handle a big company anyway.
After a moment of reflection, he suddenly remembered that the Moreno family had previously run an internet gaming company. Having spent time with them, Ash should know something about it.
“There’s a game company east of Riverstone worth a million dollars, but it has stagnated in recent years because its games haven’t been innovative enough. They’ve been barely getting by, living off their past successes. What do you think?”
Ash nodded. “Sounds good.”
Upon hearing that it was a small company, Jade felt a bit more balanced. She had heard of that company before. It had earned her family a decent amount of money back in the day. However, after shifting its main business focus to renewable energy, no one bothered with it, leaving it to fend for itself.
Lachlan’s expression relaxed as well. Having started from the ground up, he disliked special treatment, so Ash’s choice made things easier for him.
“If you have any questions, feel free to ask me anytime,” Lachlan said calmly, his tone reassuring.
“Okay, thanks,” Ash said.
“Just be careful. While it’s a small company, it once thrived and was one of our family’s main businesses. Don’t let it collapse and give people a reason to laugh,” Caspian scoffed.
He didn’t believe Ash could manage a company well.
Ash shot him a glance. “If you don’t speak, no one will mistake you for a mute.”
“If the company goes under, don’t come crying to us,” Caspian said with a sinister look. “We won’t have time to help you pick up the pieces.”
“Shut up.” Josh glared at him, exuding an intimidating aura. “You will go back to training tomorrow!”
Caspian glared at Ash resentfully. It was all her fault for getting him scolded. He had merely stated the truth. He was curious to see what would happen when he returned next time and found the company had collapsed. He wondered how Ash would

Brooke shot Caspian a sidelong glance but then turned back to Ash with a gentle tone. “Don’t listen to him. Don’t put too much pressure on yourself. Even if the company fails, your dad and I won’t blame you.”
Ash nodded, her expression calm and serene.
No need to drag the Moreno family and the Ford family into her affairs. She could let others handle her own companies for now. Ash wouldn’t suffer any losses.
In the room, Jade sat on her bed, unable to hold back her tears as she covered her face. This dinner party not only made everyone realize that the real heiress of the Turner family wasn’t her but also revealed that Ash and Calvert were officially engaged.
After being with Calvert for so long and putting so much effort into the Turner family, she ended up with nothing. Jade thought, Why did I deserve this?‘
A moment later, she wiped her tears, took out her phone, and dialed a man’s number. “Do you remember what you said before? I need your help with something now.”
