As soon as William stepped through the door, his face turned pale upon hearing those words. Ash was his highly respected and unattainable boss, yet these people dared to slander her like this.
Before the police could even begin questioning, he voluntarily explained, “The relationship between her and me is completely innocent. There is absolutely no inappropriate relationship.”
As he spoke, he turned his head towards Samantha, his gaze sharp and unfriendly. “Are you the one spreading rumors about me?”
Samantha was stunned when she saw the person in front of her. She thought. ‘Isn’t said Jewel merely a kept mistress? Then why does the chairman of Shadow Venture come in person? Do I get myself into trouble? No! It must be impossible! This person must be fake! How can the chairman of a big company like Shadow Ventures come over with a call? She must have hired someone to put on an act to escape punishment!‘
Samantha deliberately ignored the presence of William and braced herself, saying, “You dare to do it but won’t admit it. Everything I said is true! The man you brought here definitely isn’t the chairman of Shadow Ventures!”
She turned to the interrogator and said loudly, “I want to report them for collaborating to forge evidence!”
At that moment, the interrogator’s phone suddenly rang, it was the chief calling. “You must handle this case meticulously, and not a single clue can be missed. Be respectful towards the chairman of Shadow Ventures. Also, the future heir of the Turner family is waiting outside for the case results. There can’t be
any mistakes!”
Hearing the chief’s voice, the interrogator was almost certain that the man inside was indeed the chairman of Shadow Ventures. After searching for pictures online to confirm once again, his expression darkened. “Mrs. Moreno, there is no doubt about this person’s identity. You should speak based on evidence, not fabricate lies here.”
With the chairman personally clarifying the situation, the interrogator quickly concluded the case regarding Samantha’s false accusations. It was determined that Samantha had initiated the trouble, while Ash’s actions were deemed legitimate self–defense.
Samantha bit her lip in frustration, her eyes fixed on Ash and the wealthy–looking chairman of Shadow Ventures standing next to her.
Suddenly, Samantha pointed to the bruise on her face and rolled up her sleeve to reveal a bruised arm. “Even if the whole thing about her being a mistress is a misunderstanding, she beat me up so badly. Are we just going to let that slide?”
The interrogator looked at her bruises carefully and his face turned solemn. He had to handle this case impartially and strictly. There must not be any mistakes. If this woman was covered in injuries, the defendant might be suspected of excessive self–defense.
However, the examination of injuries was not within his scope of expertise. The interrogator was about to call the other police officer to do the examination, but Samantha hurriedly stopped him. “Look at my injuries. Isn’t this serious? What else do you want to do?”
Ash picked up a piece of paper from the side. Before anyone could react, she quickly rubbed it against Samantha’s face. Then, she showed the interrogator the colored paper. “If wearing makeup counts as an injury, then I think you should be in the entertainment industry instead of the police station. That’s where you really belong.”
Seeing Samantha being taken away by the police to have her injuries examined, Ash smirked coldly. This idiot might think everyone was as easily manipulated as the Moreno family.
With such poor acting skills, Lorelei and Dexter could easily believe Samantha just because Ash was not their biological daughter. Yet, at the police station, Samantha still dared to pull the same stunt.
Not long after, the freshly cleaned–up Samantha was brought back. Aside from the slightly swollen handprint on her face, there were no other visible wounds. As for the bruises on her arm, there were only a few small spots, clearly from falling to

the ground rather than being hit by someone.
In the video, Ash only covered her mouth and threw her to the ground. She did not deliberately beat her up.

Looking at the result which didn’t even qualify as minor injuries, the interrogator gradually figured out the ins and outs of the matter. His already serious face became even more stern.
“Mrs. Moreno, you first spread false rumors and defamed others, then fabricated injuries to deliberately mislead the police. Considering no significant harm was caused, we will sentence you to three days of detention according to the law.” The interrogator’s voice was devoid of any emotion.
Upon hearing this result, Samantha was stunned on the spot. She pointed at Ash and said indignantly, “What about her?”
“She acted in self–defense and bears no responsibility in this case.”
With that, the interrogator stood up and opened the door. “You two may leave now.”

Seeing Samantha standing there, furious to the point of madness, Ash’s lips curled slightly as she added fuel to the fire. “How does it feel to try to gain an advantage only to end up worse off?”
“You b*tch! Just wait, I won’t let you off…”
Before Samantha could finish her words, a nearby officer brought her away. Ash smiled and walked out of the interrogation room alongside William.
“Mrs. Turner, the next time you encounter such a matter, you can look for me in advance. There’s no need to come to the police station personally,” William said softly in the corridor.
He could just send a lawyer to deal with such a person.
Ash replied softly, “I did it on purpose.”
Since Samantha dared to play the game, she had to be prepared to face the consequences.
If she hadn’t come to the police station, this matter would have been classified as an ordinary civil case, subject to mediation, and neither party would bear any responsibility.
But since she came here, she had no intention of letting Samantha leave unscathed.
Detention for three days was not a particularly serious punishment, but if Lorelei, who had always cared about her reputation knew about this, Samantha would not still be so relaxed.
“Of course, you have your reasons for doing this. I apologize for offending you, Mrs. Turner,” William said respectfully.
Ash subconsciously reached out to pat his shoulder. But, recalling the scene when Calvert happened to see her in the office last time, she retracted her hand and said gently, “There’s no need to be so formal. I’m not a strict boss.”
Upon hearing this, a faint smile appeared on William’s originally serious face. He realized that in his boss’s eyes, he was indeed different from the other ordinary subordinates.
In the reception room of the hall, Calvert fixed his curious gaze at the end of the corridor. ‘Ash has been inside for so long, why hasn’t she come out yet?‘
However, in the next second, he saw her and William smiling at each other. Not only were the two of them standing close together but there was also a harmonious atmosphere around them.
When facing him, Ash always looked angry, but with other men, she smiled so happily.
He tightened his grip on the coffee cup, clenching it into a fist. With a crisp sound, the purple clay coffee cup shattered into

pieces in his hand.
Calvert stood up with a dark expression, looking cold.
