Chapter 85
Chapter 85
The Turner family.
Ash sat at her desk, looking at the meeting points submitted by William, her brows slightly furrowed.
Since founding Shadow Ventures, she had always avoided direct confrontation with the four major families. Even when seeking partnerships, she purposely avoided projects involving these families. So she didn’t understand why the Snider family suddenly took action against Shadow Ventures.
When she thought of Calvert’s dark expression when she chose to take William’s car that day, she gradually realized that she had likely caused trouble for the company this time.
But it didn’t matter. Shadow Ventures had been developing in Riverstone for so long that it had established deep roots. A minor move from the Snider family wouldn’t be enough to shake the foundation of Shadow Ventures.
Ash was very pleased with how William handled the situation. The current priority was securing Riverstone’s Commercial Area. As long as they acquired that valuable piece of land, Shadow Ventures would remain competitive in its development for the next three years.
Ash instructed in her message, [Have the other departments continue pretending to negotiate projects to distract the Snider Group, while we gather the core team and focus all efforts on securing the land,]
It seemed that Calvert was destined to be an enemy of Shadow Ventures. But it didn’t matter.
In a place where no one could see, Ash’s eyes sparkled with determination, showing no signs of tension despite facing the powerful Snider family.
At the Snider Group.
Calvert stood in front of the large floor–to–ceiling window, his gaze directed outside.
To facilitate taking a helicopter to work or traveling abroad at any time, his office was located on the top floor of the Snider Group building. Being on the 36th floor allowed him to overlook the entire Riverstone, providing a sense of being on top of the world.
His gaze was distant as he looked beyond the nearby skyscrapers.
When Shane entered, he saw Calvert exuding an impressive presence from his elevated position.
“Mr. Snider, the recent collaborations that Shadow Ventures was unable to secure have successfully shifted their intentions and opted to partner with us,” Shane reported.
Calvert took the report, his long fingers flipping through the pages, showing no expression.
After a moment, he looked up from the report in his hands and asked calmly, “What counteractions does Shadow Ventures plan to take regarding the projects they’ve lost?”
“Not at all.” Shane also felt puzzled. “Except for some conflicts between the Shadow Ventures staff and our team on the first day, they all fell silent the next day. Even after we took the project from them, the Shadow Ventures employees didn’t seem angry at all.”
He finally came to a conclusion. “Mr. Snider, I suspect that Shadow Ventures is holding back a big move.”
A large company like Shadow Ventures, which had already established a strong foothold in Riverstone, would not allow itself to be bullied by other companies without taking action. This was not in line with Shadow Ventures‘ style.
Otherwise, Shadow Ventures would never have been able to establish itself in Riverstone in the first place.

Calvert said nothing. He slowly walked to the computer and sat down. His gaze was intently fixed on the business information on the webpage, certain that something had been overlooked.
Not long after, he opened a message about the sale of Riverstone’s Commercial Area and called Shane over beside him. “Look at this.”
When Shane saw the content, his heart instantly skipped a beat. ‘How could I miss this big opportunity?”

More than 20 years ago, Riverstone’s Commercial Area was once the center of the entire city. However, with the shift of the city’s center of gravity and the renewal of the industry, Riverstone’s Commercial Area was replaced by new shopping centers. Gradually, no one remembered it, and that piece of land was completely abandoned.
Most people didn’t even consider a place like this. The four major families had their own emerging businesses and naturally didn’t pay much attention to such areas. However, Shadow Ventures was different. They thrived on turning waste into
treasure.
Previously, there was a company on the verge of bankruptcy. With the keen insight of Shadow Ventures‘ investors, it received funding and business development guidance. Within a few years, it successfully went public internationally. This was just one of many such examples.
So, while others might not be interested in Riverstone’s Commercial Area, Shadow Ventures certainly would be.

Calvert pointed at the message with a calm expression and said coldly, “At all costs, secure this piece of land for me.”
“Yes.” Shane received the order and left.
At Shadow Ventures.
William looked at the report and thought, ‘So it has finally come.
He called Ash and said, “Ms. Turner, the Snider family has taken action regarding the land in Riverstone’s Commercial Area.”
“It doesn’t matter. If he can’t even notice this, then he doesn’t deserve to be the future heir of the Turner family.” This was within Ash’s expectations.
She just didn’t expect it to happen so quickly. In less than two days, Calvert had discovered this blind spot. He really had sharp eyes.
“Gather the company executives. I’ll arrive at the office for a meeting in half an hour.” Ash hung up the phone.
Having long been accustomed to climbing over walls, she turned without a second thought and jumped down from the big tree outside the window, following the familiar old path to sneak out.
Wisley, who had been closely watching this place, quickly noticed the fleeting shadow and dialed Jade’s phone.
“Thank you, Wisley.” After hanging up the phone, Jade glanced at the camera that had long been focused on that spot, a smile spreading across her face.
She retrieved the recording of Ash climbing over the wall from the computer and sent it to a professional for anonymization. After confirming that her information couldn’t be exposed, she had the photos sent to Calvert.
Jade looked at the successful screenshot sent by the other party and smiled slyly. She couldn’t believe that Calvert, whom she held in high regard as a treasure, could truly tolerate a woman who sold her own body.
At Snider Manor.

Chapter 85
Dorothy stared disapprovingly at Calvert. “What about the promise you made to me? What couple apes three days without seeing each other?”
In the past two days, Calvert had been running to the company but hadn’t met with Adh. Even the photos they had agreed to share earlier have gone missing.
Calvert’s gaze was deep, and he didn’t know how to respond to Dorothy. The moment he thought about Ash getting into her lover’s car right in front of him without any hesitation, a surge of agitation rote in his heart
He thought. “Isn’t it just acting? Who can’t do that? Anyway, it’s just a year. If I endure it, it will pass
Dean walked forward and comforted Dorothy. “Madam, absence makes the heart grow fonder. Young people these days are different from our years.”
Upon hearing this, Dorothy’s tense expression eased. “You brat, why didn’t you tell me about this scheme? You made me worry for nothing.”
Calvert maintained a calm expression but remained silent.
A message notification interrupted the silent atmosphere. Everyone’s gaze landed on Calvert’s phone.
Dorothy’s face was filled with anticipation. “Quick, take a look and see if it’s from Ash.”
Calvert picked up his phone. As he read the message, his expression instantly turned cold and serious.
