Chapter 89

Samantha did not know the exact value of her family’s company. She thought it was a big regular company that generated a decent annual revenue of over 350 thousand dollars, meaning it cost less than the dress Tristan had given her.
“Samantha, your words are too harsh. Although the company doesn’t make a lot of revenue, it still has an annual income of over 350 million dollars. There’s evidence of this” Lorelei also sounded unhappy.
Shadow Ventures had backed them for nearly ten years. Samantha had no idea how difficult it was to attract outside investments. The Moreno family generally could not make ends meet and had no savings in their companies. If Shadow Ventures stopped making investments, the Moreno family would not be able to cover their losses.
Dexter heard their conversation, leaned over and said in a threatening tone, “Samantha, we didn’t ask Jewel for help because you said you could help get us investments. The company is counting on you now. Don’t let me down.”
Judging by the expressions on her parents‘ faces, Samantha understood for the first time that being the Moreno family’s daughter was not so easy,
However, on second thought, she wondered why Jewel was so lucky.
“If Jewel can do it, so can I.” Samantha gritted her teeth. Jewel had already spent many years with her parents. Samantha reckoned that the Moreno family would welcome Jewel back into their family.
Samantha promised her parents, “Give me another day.”
Samantha took out her phone and agreed to a man’s friend request. Jade shared her contact information with this man. He was indeed rich, but a pervert…
The Turner family home.
Ash climbed over the wall from her usual spot. However, as soon as she returned to her room, she saw her mother anxiously looking for her.
Brooke was stunned when she saw her daughter climbing in through the window. “Ash, what are you doing?”
“I went out for a walk…” Ash was stunned.
This was an awkward situation, and Ash wondered if she had been caught red–handed.
“Then why didn’t you just go through the door?” Brooke was a little puzzled. She walked to the window and looked at the height between the ground floor and the window. She could not help but feel afraid. “What if you fell…
Ash had already jumped down gracefully. Her expression returned to normal. “No, I’m pretty good at this. I used to do this often…”
Before she could finish speaking, she saw Brooke’s worried gaze. “Oh, my precious daughter. Did you have a tough upbringing?”
“Not at all. It’s a hobby of mine,” Ash hurriedly explained. She noticed her mother’s worried and guilty expression and felt slightly uncomfortable. “I only climbed over the wall because the bodyguard I called is not here yet. I didn’t tell you directly because I feared you would be worried.”
“Sweetheart, we’re your parents. We want you to find a bodyguard because we want you to be safe. We’re not restricting your freedom. This is your house as well. You can enter and leave freely at any time. There’s no reason for you to climb over the
wall.”
Brooke’s tone was filled with despair. She was worried about her daughter’s safety but did not expect her actions to force her daughter into doing something even more unsafe.

“It’s alright, Mom. I won’t climb over the wall anymore. Don’t worry,” Ash promised.
Her biological parents would always treat her as a child they never witnessed grow up.
When Josh found out about this, he consented and agreed to let Ash hire a bodyguard.
“Alright,” Ash agreed immediately. If she could only get one bodyguard, she already had one readily available.
She took out her phone and made a call.
Not long after, a lean person arrived at the entrance of the Turner family home.
Brooke and Josh looked at the bodyguard their daughter had found standing at the door. She was wearing a black casual outfit and a black hat and looked very calm.
She didn’t look like a bodyguard but like an ordinary person walking down the streets.
“Eleanor, these are my biological parents,” Ash explained calmly.
Eleanor looked over, but there was no flicker of emotion in her eyes, and neither did she speak.
Ash was already used to this. She turned around and explained to her parents, “This is the bodyguard I found.”
Brooke and Josh looked at each other. It was indeed what their precious daughter preferred. Eleanor just stood there. One could easily ignore her existence.
Brooke and Josh wondered how such a person could protect their daughter. They were yet to find out who had sent that assassin who tried to hit their daughter with his big truck.
“Are you sure she can fight?” Josh sounded doubtful.
Ash said calmly, “Dad, you can call out your bodyguards. If she can’t beat them, I’ll use them instead.”
Brooke did not bother acting formally and waved her hand. The butler quickly responded, calling out the bodyguards responsible for the Turner family’s security.
Josh chose the two most muscular bodyguards and pointed at Eleanor. “Go ahead and spar with her. Be careful not to hurt her. If you win, I’ll double your bonus this month.”
The chosen bodyguards scrutinized the slender woman in front of them, dressed casually. Their eyes revealed a trace of joy as they replied respectfully, “Yes, sir.”
With that, they walked to Eleanor and bowed to her. Then, they began their spar.
Ash had a calm expression as she quietly waited for the sparring to end. However, she could not help but feel optimistic.
The Turner family’s bodyguards lacked combat experience compared to the battle–hardened Eleanor. Yet, they were also hired through a legitimate security company.
As expected, the two bodyguards were huge and strong but couldn’t handle Eleanor’s agile attacks and struggled to fight back.
Eleanor had specialized moves that involved moving around and attacking her opponent’s vital parts. After a while, the two bodyguards were defeated.
Josh watched the fight and heaved a sigh of relief. He promised Ash that she could hire her bodyguard.
Brooke blinked in shock. The Turner family had spent much money on these bodyguards and they could not even last ten rounds against Eleanor. Her precious daughter seemed to have secrets that she did not know about.

Ash calmly looked at her mother’s curious gaze. They were a family now, so some things from her past would be exposent sooner or later. Brooke was so good to her, so Ash did not need to keep things hidden.
Snider Manor.
“Mr. Snider, some of the company’s projects have received crazy backlash from Shadow Ventures. What should we do no Shane stood in front of him with a serious expression.
Calvert looked at the report Shane handed over and frowned slightly.
Shadow Ventures retaliated a little differently from what he had imagined.
The projects under attack were not the ones that had already been developed. Instead, Shadow Ventures went for the projects Calvert had just started to invest in.
In other words, Shadow Ventures severely damaged his newly endorsed investments at a minimal cost.
Shadow Ventures had sharp foresight. Their actions were expected from an investment company that had been in the industry for ten years.
However, if Shadow Ventures thought this was all Calvert had to offer, they were gravely mistaken.
Calvert’s expression turned cold.
