Chapter 90
Chapter 90
“Pass down the order. Tell the people who previously dealt with Shadow Ventures to retreat. Vocus on that land in Riverstone,” Calvert’s unfriendly voice sounded in the room.
“I’ll do it right away.” Shane turned around and walked out.
Upon hearing the news that Calvert had returned home, Dorothy walked over and saw him sitting alone at the desk. Her tone was a little reproachful. “You rascal, didn’t you say you would pick up Ash? Why did you come back alone again?”
Calvert frowned and did not say anything.
“I heard the two of you fought?” Dorothy looked at her grandson inquisitively.
“You promised not to rush me about this matter for a year,” Calvert looked up and said coldly.
“You still have the cheek to say that? Are you two breaking up? If not, why haven’t you contacted each other for a few days? You didn’t even do what you promised and still want to shut me up?” Dorothy didn’t bother sounding, polite.
She felt powerless and spoke her mind, panting slightly.
Vania walked in from the back. She hurriedly picked up a glass of water on the table beside her and handed it to Dorothy. “Grandma, don’t be anxious. The doctor said you can’t get agitated.”
Dorothy retorted, “It’s all your brother’s fault. He’s terrible at courting women. All he’s good at is opening a company and earning money. We must be careful because he might even run away from his fiancée one day.”
Dorothy was anxious. She had never seen any other woman by her grandson’s side for many years except the scheming Jade.
“When your parents were Calvert’s age, he already knew how to walk,” Dorothy looked slightly heartbroken as she said this.
Dorothy thought, ‘His parents were successful with courtship, so what’s wrong with Calvert…
Vania was excited to hear Calvert and Dorothy’s relationship was not going well. She knew her grandmother liked Ash very muc hand she did not refute it.
“Grandma, Calvert is amazing. Since he doesn’t like Ash, let’s find another woman for him.” Vania tried her best to suppress her excited tone and pretended to comfort Dorothy.
“How can you say such a thing?” Dorothy was disappointed. “Our family has been on good terms with the Turner family for generations. Their engagement was decided when they were in their mother’s wombs. How can we go back on our word?”
Once Dorothy became a little agitated, Vania hurriedly calmed her down and did not dare to say anything else to make her grandmother restless..
“I understand.” Calvert’s barely moved his lips. He had an idea of what he truly wanted to do. “I’ll handle this matter.”
He wondered why a fuss was made over a woman and decided to bring Ash home and have her spend more time with his grandma. But, only after he destroyed Shadow Ventures.
Dorothy believed Calvert had thought it through, and she looked more satisfied. “You have to get along with Ash and do your best to try and give me a great–grandchild as soon as possible.”
Calvert did not comment.
After Dorothy left, Vania ran to Calvert’s room. “Calvert, Ash has a history of bad behavior. She can’t compare to Jade at all. Why did you choose Ash?”

Chapter 90
Upon hearing the name Jade, Calvert frowned slightly. “It’s a serious matter. Kids like you should not have to care adran the?
Jade not only lied to him but also drugged him.
On the other hand, Ash was in a committed relationship but seemed to be doing very well in other aspects of her life.
Not only did she help him detoxify the drugs Jade gave him, but she also gave Dorothy a nourishing pill to make her lite more comfortable…
Calvert thought. ‘Damn! What was I thinking? I can’t be entangled with these two women forever!
Calvert retracted his thoughts, but he could not stop thinking of Ash.
Now that Eleanor would accompany Ash, she would leave home and move around often. Without Jade, that conniving bitch, by her side, Ash would feel more free.
Ash would be even happier if the Snider Group did not pursue Shadow Ventures relentlessly.
“Ash,” Lachlan called out as she was about to leave. “Please come and look at the Arcade Enterprise you gave me when you’re
free.”
“I’ve been very busy recently,” Ash rejected immediately.
Ash was not in the mood to think about anything else until she obtained the plot of land in the Riverstone Commercial Area
Lachlan noticed Ash had been leaving home early and returning late these past few days. He looked at her and slowly said, “If there’s anything you need help with, you can tell me.”
Upon hearing this, Ash’s eyes lit up. She might not necessarily be able to defeat Calvert using Shadow Ventures‘ power and influence. However, if the Turner family helped, that might not be the case.
A hint of surprise appeared in Ash’s eyes. She turned around to confirm, “Can you help me?”
Besides the occasional guidance from her mentor, Ash had always worked hard alone and rarely sought help from others, so she was a little unaccustomed to it.
However, this was her brother, who was related to her by blood.
Lachlan looked at his sister’s huge, innocent eyes, and old memories suddenly overlapped with reality. He remembered how she used to chase him around when they were younger.
Ash was his biological sister. She should have been pampered until she had grown up. He couldn’t believe how hesitant she was to ask for help.
“I’ll definitely do what you ask of me,” Lachlan said firmly.
“I happen to have a presumptuous request.” Ash thought for a moment. “Do you mind stalling Calvert for a while so he doesn’t have time to meddle in Shadow Ventures‘ matters?”
She recalled how heartless Calvert had been, so he shouldn’t blame her for being cruel.
After Ash finished speaking, she looked at Lachlan and waited for his answer.
“This…” Lachlan hesitated. He did not expect his sister to ask him to help her with her fiancé.
During this period, Shadow Ventures and the Snider family were engaged in attacks against each other. Lachlan, who was in the business world, had long noticed this but did not expect Ash to be involved.

Chapter 90
After a while, he asked, “Do Mom and Dad know about this?”
Ash shook her head. Her parents liked Calvert very much. If they knew that the two of them were planting pane car other, they would probably be disappointed again.
Ash warned, “This secret stays between us. If you’re willing to help, you can’t tell Mom and Dad
“Alright,” Lachlan agreed. Those familiar words brought him back to his childhood
During their childhood, Ash had always been indifferent. She had been doser to her parents and always had nothing so say to him. After so many years of separation, they finally became a little more comfortable with each other
However, something seemed different when she explained her problem to him this time. She had brukes the inte them, and he no longer felt conflicted or guilty.
She thanked him, “Thank you, Lachlan.”
When he saw a smile finally appear on Ash’s sweet face, Lachlan’s expression softened a little the used to thank him and smile when he bought her candy during their childhood.
Ash’s worry dissipated now that Lachlan was helping her.
Calvert was indeed influential in the business world. He was not inferior to her and even showed signs of surpassing ter Ash turned around and left. She headed to Shadow Ventures for a meeting to adjust her plan to grab the land
At the same time, a picture and a sentence appeared on Calvert’s phone: [Your fiancée goes to Shadow Tenures every day to meet her old lover. Aren’t you angry?]
The photo attached was of Ash entering Shadow Ventures.
