Chapter 32
Ethan agreed to take me into the palace, but I was only allowed to observe. That was fine since I had achieved my goal
I nodded absentmindedly, still embarrassed about what had happened earlier. Walking
head quickly, I felt a wave of dizziness,

Thinking Ethan was far behind me, I turned suddenly and collided straight into his firm
chest.
“Hiss!” I stepped back, annoyed.
“You’re like a homeless person now, shirking your responsibilities. I’m so disappointed in you, Alpha Ethan!” I joked, putting extra emphasis on *Alpha* to remind him of his old, careless ways.
“I’m on vacation. What’s wrong with that?” he replied, as relaxed as ever.
I frowned in frustration. “How can you do this? You’re supposed to lead your pack, not follow an omega around.”
Ethan raised an eyebrow and casually rested his hands on my shoulders. “If I said I was protecting you, would you pay me a protection fee?”
I stared at him, stunned. “You? If you’d just stop teasing me, I’d already be thanking the
Moon Goddess.”
Our voices might have been too loud because, suddenly, a window opened barely ten centimeters from Ethan’s ear.
The harsh metallic screech made him wince, and before I could say anything, he punched
the window frame.
From inside, someone shouted, “What the hell?!”
Chapter 32
With Ethan’s Alpha strength, that punch could’ve knocked out someone’s teeth. I almost felt bad for whoever it was.
The alley we were in was so narrow that it was impossible to avoid hearing every little sound. Even the neighbors‘… activities were audible.
The thought of Ethan and me at the restaurant flashed through my mind, making my
cheeks burn.
The person inside, startled at first, quickly turned aggressive. But before he could say much, Ethan cut him off coldly. “Let it go.”
No matter how bold a werewolf was, they had to submit to an Alpha’s authority, especially
Ethan’s.
Meanwhile, I couldn’t see over Ethan’s broad shoulders, so I stood on tiptoe, desperately searching for a foothold.
A crack in the wall, where a tree had grown, served as my savior. Just as I managed to peek in, a firm hand pressed against my back, helping me up.. albeit a little too forcefully.
Finally, I got a good look. My face pressed to the windowsill, I saw a shirtless beta inside. He had tattoos on his arm that read something absurd, like “couple lung yummy“.
The beta, clearly drunk, raised his hand and yelled, “You wanna bet I’ll punch you?!”
My wolf growled loudly, aided by the thunder and rain, making him stagger back in fear.
“Don’t hurt him,” another man inside slurred. “He’s just an omega. All he’s got is his looks, tricking women into spending money on him. Sometimes I even rely on him to survive. If you kill him, what will I do?”
Tears welled in my eyes, though they were more from laughter than anything else. The beta cursed a bit more before passing out, snoring loudly on the floor.
As the alley quieted down, Ethan turned to me, amused. “Real tears or fake?”
I slid down the wall, my heart still racing. This alley wasn’t just random; I’d noticed it when
Chapter 32
we arrived.
According to Kai’s intel, this place was linked to suspects spreading the virus and mutilating
werewolves.
No wonder they talked about “taking thighs“…
“You knew about this place, didn’t you?” I accused, leaning against the wall.
Ethan squatted down in front of me, his face so close I could feel his breath.
“It was an accident,” he said innocently.
“If I believe that, even the Moon Goddess would cry for justice.”
Ethan chuckled. “Fine. I came to check on the case.”
“I knew it!” I glared. “Didn’t Nick tell you to stay with Kate? This case isn’t serious enough for an Alpha to step in.”
“I’m just taking a look,” he said lightly.
“Really?” I frowned, uneasy. Something felt off. But looking at Ethan, all I saw was his usual impatience with the rain–nothing suspicious.
Still, I couldn’t shake the thought that his charm had won over Kate, Jane, and anyone else in his pack. His perfect body and easy smile probably kept him in power despite his irresponsibility.
“No. 207, Fire Street, Area B, Fire Phantom Forest”
Since I couldn’t get rid of Ethan, I let him follow me.
Before we entered, I warned him, “Don’t ask questions, don’t look around, and… don’t make “that” face.”
Chapter 12
Ethan raised an eyebrow but nodded.
I took a deep breath, plastered on a smile, and said, “By the way, this place is a… gay bar.
Ethan: “…”
